Thread: New NPC Elite Marks Impossible!! Hardly....

Most of them are, yes.

I've run about maybe 75 of the new missions and all but one has been a piece of cake, even the double gold chevron bosses. But I did have one who was almost impossible to beat, he dealt out massive damage (i wear 6200+ energy battle armour and had duelist running) somewhere in the region of 400-600+ per shot. I was having to heal every 4 of his shots.

His regen was insane I had every DoT and state an MCM can hit with as well as my combat droid hitting him and he was still regening when not being shot.I was using what is probably one of the best high-damage elite carbines (PUP'd for SAC) on our server made by (IMHO) our best weaponsmith on Chimaera, QuikSniper.

Due to food and a nice carbineI was never near to losing mind or action but he still incapped me twice due to me slightly mis-timing my heals. my first incap only lasted about 12 seconds but in that time he had completely healed all of his damage. I only managed to get him down on the last go because i pulled him to some huurons and he area attacked, the huurons managed to negate his regen and I was finally able to take him down.

I guarentee if you went up against a mark like this with medic x2xx you would have lasted less than a minute.

These "super boss" marks are rare but they do exisit and it's probably these that are giving some players the trouble, not the regular 17-33k double gold chevron bosses you've seen. please don't assume you're ub3r and everyone else isa n00b until you've met one of thesebad boys and looted his bugs/warm hat.

When they first announced the changes to the BH missions I thought this was going to be in game. I wanted some hard NPC Jedi, even one that has different templates like MLS/MDefender or MLS/MPowers. As long as the CL does notgo overboard it would be great fun.

But the key is to make it hard, having the NPC do stuff like stasis or Aura/Valor on you would make these missions the best content in game.

Yeah, it would be nice to get some proper lvl 88 black sun missions or other similar high level marks on there. It's a pain when you come across them on Dath becasue they're always in gangs of 4 and it's nearly impossible to pull one without his mates aggroing as well.

I have to agree there are super bosses. I have gone thru some double chevron (gold) bosses without more than a heal. But then some that were alot tougher as to the damage they've dealt. And the health is over 36k with the regen. But I have been gettin a lair positioned between me and the mark and the extra npc damage seems to make the difference in losing and winning. at least for me. Im a mbh, mp, novice doc.

It's just weird, sometimes I get a boss and he seems to do me no damage what so ever and once, like this guy, they give you a real run for your money. TBH unless it's a 17k+ health boss i don't even bother getting my droid out or taking food.I wish the double gold bosses were all super bosses and dropped better stuff than regular elites.

I get all het up when i see it's a boss, neck all my foods and get the droid out, only to find it's a really easy fight and you just get smuggler loots. Maybe they should put the CL of the bosses up to lvl 88 or something with the guarentee that they drop multiple or at least decentloots.

Dude

Im a pre CU BH, Master Pistols, Master marksman

I just started playing yesterday (sunday, before I was having problems downloading hte patches), not having played at all since the CU.

Trust me... my uber composite and my deadly DX2 and old combat tactics are useless now! Go figure!

I need new equipment and a complete revamp on my tactics before I can handle these dudes.

Still... I agree with you, you need a good equipment and food, then you can handle it.

Now... lets see how well I will do next weekend, once I have time to waste all of my remaining credits in refurbishing my stockpiles.

There are, it has been said, two types of people in the world. There are those who, when presented with a glass that is exactly half full, say: this glass is half full. And then there are those who say: this glass is half empty. The world belongs, however, to those who can look at the glass and say: What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!

I'm a CL80 MBH/MRifles/xxx3 Pistoleer/xx2x Medic and have fought more than my share of elite marks (20k HAM - 33k HAM). I have had no problem dropping these marks in a matter of one to two minutes without having to heal myself until after the fight.

I'm not sure if all of the people saying these marks are "impossible" are just not very good, don't have very good armor/weapons, or are low CL, but please....just stop. They aren't impossible...Maybe they are for you if you are a low CL, but hey, instead of complaining why not just go level up and get the skill you need?

Anyways, I feel better now. I'm not trying to flame anyone, but the statements that these marks are "impossible" is just ignorant. In fact, I wouldn't mind if they were made more difficult if loot tables were adjusted. =)

I agree with you, but you just need to keep in mind that not all players are using Rifles. My buddy is a Master Bounty Hunter / Master Pistoleer / with some Carbineer and sucks at these because he cannot avoid getting hit.

You and I can use our range to our advantage, but considering none of the Pistoleer specials work on NPCs (Disarming shot, Intimidate, even Confusiong Shot from BH). So they are forced to trade shot for shot and that is why they lose.

It is VERY similar to Jedi missions, it is mostly about the template: Melee < Pistols < Carbines < Rifles < Healing

It is nice to see that quite a few people agree with my statements. I too feel that there are some things that make these bosses more difficult...template for example. However, in most cases when I fight these marks I only have Blob Candy in me and am using my second rate rifle and wearing 5.6k Chitin. =0

I guess the fact that I can Snipe/KD/Root/Startle/Snare/KD/Startle and Advance Crit all from 60+ meters helps too. =)

I also agree that some marks spawn in the worst possible places, such as hills and valleys. Those make for very annoying alpha strikes since you can't see them from further away and have to attack close up.

It is just crazy seeing all these people post things about being impossible and only for the elite players, blah blah...They really aren't that hard. Just think about the fight before you go in blazing.

Hells yeah when most of the marks use carbs or pistols.

A good high dmg weapon with a SAC pup and lots of specials is a good way to always come out on top.

I am the same temp as your friend- MBH, Master Pistoleer- and have no problem. Yes the shots you mention don't really work, but I can take down any mark, as posted above. Ya I take hits but nothing I can't take care of.

I think the Super Boss theory is a good name for this issue
