Thread: New /duel fix gives away our missions.

How many of you have had this be an issue for you since it was released? How many of had their element of surprise stripped from them?
Seriously I'm ashamed to be a BH sometimes - especially when other BH's reduce themselves to sniveling the sort of Jedi.
I had this issue affectme this morning at the Rryatt Trail. There was a group of 6 Jedi down there exploiting the wookiees on the Webweaver Path. Usually when I stumble upon my mark I roleplay for a bit, talk a bit, earn the Jedi's trust -- pretend I'm there for the grinding, waiting for the Jedi to show a moment of weakness. But today as soon as I got there I got bombarded with /duel requests, and the Jedi I had the mission on knew I was there for him. There was no roleplaying to be had. There was no challenge of wits. You can't pretend to be grinding. Nothing. He knew I was there for him as such, he stood at alert the entire time, never letting his guard down. Never letting his force get too low.
This might not affect the PvP bounty hunters who always go in guns ablazing without any thoughtand have no concept of what roleplaying is, but to bounty hunters who actually roleplay a bounty hunter, and ACT like a bounty hunter, this bungle totally breaks any opportunity to play a role. It's akin to just announcing that you're there to kill someone upfront. How many people would invite a stranger into his house who told them upfront that he's there to kill him?
Also, why do you think the Jedi who bombard the BH with duel requests do it? It's because it helps them. It lets them know to be on alert or not. If it was no big deal, then the Jedi wouldn't be bombarding the BH with /duel requests.
I don't know why the Devs never even foresaw this happening. It's like none of them are forward thinking.

Sorry to tell you this, but smart Jedi could tell if you had their mission before CU anyway. If you tried to trade with a BH who had your mission, it wouldnt allow you toI guess that trick wasnt passed on to the newer Jedi...

That got changed a few publishes ago with the GCW changes.
Fair enough, that would explain why no new Jedi seemed to know about it. I saw many a BH get busted when trying to earn a Jedi's trust back in the day by a swift /trade
Edit: As you can see, not all Jedi are up to date with this weeks latest exploits/'tricks'

again screen shot and report exploit. If everyone who seen this would do it...maybe it will finally get fixed..imagine being the jedi..who just found out ...its fixed..lol
While I agree that it's a stupid exploit and needs to be fixed.....what are you going to screenshot (As if CSRs actually accepted screenies as evidence)?
Hmmmmm, just out of curiousity, but wasn't it posted somewhere that this was to stop a bh where a /duel request sent out and then attack would keep the jedi from responding back because of the duel request?
Thought I read that somewhere.
Could be wrong
On missions outdoors, away from player characters, your cover is blown as soon as you are in radar range.
And now, you can't hide in a group of people in a city, because they can /duel you.
So SOE, let me ask you - where's the element of suprise that is supposed to help us fight Jedi 1 on 1? I don't feel very suprising. I can stand the radar thing, because they would be suspicious of a person who visits them out in the middle of nowhere. However, this /duel thing needs to be fixed.
And something that could be nice, though I'm not going to battle for it - as I'm sure it's not the best idea for the game, would be if BH's could choose to show up yellow or white to their mark until they are closer within radar range. Maybe at a later date, under different circumstances, that could be worked in.
I love SOE sooo much right now... x_X
