Did I? Not sure if I did or not - been so long. Why do you think I did?

See, that term "hybrid" gets tossed around a lot, but quite frankly, the Devs don't define what the difference b/t a hybrid and an elite class is. WE do. And we give rationale over rationale as to why one of those types should be better than the other. And so, for 3 months, no resolution has been arrived at, and many different camps exist as to what a hybrid vs an elite should be. The simple answer is, folks, we don't know. As it stands now, Hybrid and Elite classes are simply names tacked onto a class by the Developers and left to ferment (or stagnate) in the midst of endless argument.

Holocron implies that a heavy point-invested profession should have an edge over those professions that don't invest as much.

Dan, the combat developer, implies the exact opposite, in some instances.

The point is, folks, we can argue until we're blue in the face. Until the developers:

1) KNOW their vision for each class, and can compare those visions against one another; and

2) HAVE THE COURAGE TO STATE THOSE VISIONS in a public forum

we're never going to have any idea as to whether we should be Jacks of All Trades, the Bar-None 1v1 combat class, or glorified scouts. Yet we'll continue to argue about it all day and all night based upon OUR OWN PERSONAL VISION. It doesn't work like that, unfortunately. We can say what we think we should be until we flop on the ground, breathless. But it is in the Dev Team's hands to make that distinction.

And they haven't been up to that job, yet - maybe they're content in the ambiguity.

Problem #4:

Bounty Hunter power curve ends before easier master classes. They aren’t as powerful as a pistoleer/carbineer/etc.

Solution #4:

I’m not 100% convinced that bounty hunter should be more powerful than a pistoleer in all situations. That being said, I think they need some more class specific functionality and abilities as opposed to borrowing existing moves/mods from pistoleer/carbineer. I’ll investigate this and see what I can come up with to improve the class.

People are making way too much of that quote. Dan is absolutely right and the BH community needs to accept that. A BH should not win vs a Pistoleer in every situation. For instance a Pistoleer stumbles out of a Cloning center to find a BH laying incapped on the ground. In that case a Pistoleer should win (not guaranteed but should). Other then that the BH should own the pistoleer. So as you can now obviously see a BH should not beat a pistoleer in all situations.

Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at an Elingsh uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht frist and lsat ltteer is at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae we do not raed ervey lteter by it slef but the wrod as a wlohe.

One reason that people are making a big deal about Dan's quote is due to the absolute absence of communication b/t the Devs and the BH community. Such a lack of dialogue creates a lovely miasma of rampant speculation and paranoia. We have contradictory hints as to what SOE thinks about the Bounty Hunter class, but hints is all we have. There is no direct answer to any of our inquiries - that includes our FIRST feedback form months ago. All we have is guesses, and past history. Judging by the amount of "nerf" threads aimed at this class, the severe lack of answers from anyone in a position of authority, and a lack of identity amongst the class in the first place, is it any wonder that ANY mention of the BH by a developer is subject to such scrutiny, speculation, and paranoia?

If they took scout away from BH, there'd be 50 million more BH's running around, and it's already a really popular class.

Bad idea, IMO...

Not really. I wouldn't say 'more' Bounty Hunters. Removing Scout doesn't take away from the Investigation tree factor of Bounty Hunting. However have a pile of extra credits will only mean stronger Bounty Hunters with more skills than you can shake a stick at.

Even if you still trained two lines of Scout can you imagine what you'd do with the remaining 34 extra skill credits? On top of the 33 you already had? You know someone's going to be going Master Smuggler Master Bounty Hunter, Master Commando & M.Bounty Hunter, M.Bounty Hunter & M. Creature Handler.

Anyone else?

I have been told that the new Bounty Hunter Correspondent is coming this week, today or tomorrow maybe.

So have hope, but I seriously doubt we will be able to accomplish much before this next patch-hit.

I think the main issue which negatively effects us with this one is the fact that there seems to be intention on the part of DEV team to lower the experience requirements to max out Investigation. Secondary to this is the perspective of overall power, that Pistoleer should be more powerful in general than Bounty Hunter.

All this may be coming to head soon. So stay focused on the major issues, and we will be pushing to see they are addressed for October's big one.

So if a pistoleer should be better with pistols 1v1 than a bounty hunter, should a master pistoler/master carbineer/master rifleman beat us with all weapons if he has all 3 trained to master?

Blimey, I hope not. All this talk of "should win" and "shouldn't be better than..." concerns me greatly. If a BH is duelling a pistoleer, maybe the advantage (note the uncertainty clause attached to that word) should indeed go to the pistoleer. But in my mind the BH is not a "tally-ho, jolly good show" fair-fighting chap or chapess. Oh no. The BH acceptsthe duel with the pistoleer, and when the pistoleer turns to take his 32 paces, the BH whips out his LLC and frys the unsuspecting pistoleer with LS2.

Sorry, but imho Pistoleers should be one of the wekest ranged combat class around. However you want to place the BH the rest of the gang should pretty much look like this:

Commando > Riflemen > Carbineer > Smuggler > Pistoleer

Just my 2 cents.
