yeah dude, seriously not a good idea. if you were to say being FS should have been random in the first place but with every character having an equal probability of being FS i would have said yeah, thats how it should have been.

the real problem with you idea is that you can't just take stuff away from people now that they have it. people have played a long time, regardless of their play style, to get where they are and they should not have that taken away from them.

things should have been differant to begin with but they are they way they are and we all have to deal with it, any attempt to change it now is just a bad idea.

We have too many Jedi. That's the problem, right? We should have maybe 2 or 3 in each galaxy. This is kind of like the incredible amount of inflation that Germany experienced after the First World War. They were unsatisfied with what they had, which was reasonable, since they had next to nothing. This is kind of like how everything totally sucked compared to Jedi, when it came to combat.

Germany then produced more paper money. We have hundreds of people who have discarded their previous combat professions to become Jedi.

The "mark" lost its value. Jedi have had their powers stripped from them, to "balance" out the threat that they previously posed to every normal profession.

Germany needed a solution, and fast. Germans were using marks to line bird cages and cover their walls. We need a solution, too. And fast.

The German government abruptly stopped recognizing the mark as its main currency. The marks were still out their, but so was looseleaf paper; marks were now ENTIRELY useless. The German government made a new currency, and rebuilt their crushed and sunken economy, just as we must rebuild this game. We need a new Jedi Order!

My plan is as follows: give the Jedi that are out now a thorough thinning-out. This would be controversial, but effective. We need the better, more established Jedi. They make the game fun, not terrible and unbalanced. These are the Jedi who have been Jedi for years and have explored, mixed and matched and are now almost invincible. This is what a Jedi should be. These "Elite" Jedi should be fixed. They should be buffed up to 1.5x their current uberosity.

The other Jedi should be able to respec. They should have an eight day respec token that does NOT pop up every few minutes. If they choose not to respec, they will be allowed to maintain their current template, but will be worse at what they do. They should have lower Force, and be slower, and overall just be worse. This will dissuade them frome maintaining their template. people who have just unlocked Jedi Initiate will suck at being Jedi. They'll be terrible. However, they will retain all the Force modifiers.

Now. For aspiring Jedi: Upon character creation, most characters will feel little or no sensitivity to the Force. They will not have a /che command. This is whack. They should be strolling through a cantina sometime, and be approached by an NPC (much like the old man). If they have Force potential, the man will tell them so, through riddles and cryptic language, but of course everyone will recognize him for what he is. On a scale of one to ten, ten being the highest Force potential, if they are, say, a nine, they will recieve a visit fairly promptly after creating their character. The man will tell them tat he can feel their presence eminating with the Force. the plaer will ask, what is the Force? The man will reply that he can show you, if it your desire to learn. If you reply, "Yes," you will become his Padawan, instantly, just like that. He will ask you to complete a series of quests with him. They will be ridiculously hard, at first, with level 92 boss mobs ganking you, but he will heal you and fight for your survival, and you will ultimately win every conflict (a las movies).

Now, many would say that the Padawan trials should be hard to complete, but don't worry about that, because only a few Characters from each server will be Force Sensitive. Those that are less Force Sensitive will not become Jedi, but will be approached by the same/a similar NPC who will instead teach them ways to use the Force to bolster their combat abilities, which is congruous to the movies/books, in which players find an unseen, but familiar, hand guiding their arm in a sword duel, or straightening out their aim in combat.

The reason that this plan would work is that it would absolutely make it impossible for players to farm the Jedi profession. We wouldn't have guildies helping some new player turn himself into an uberl33t Jeedai. It would actually make sense.

Overall, I think that the hardest part of dealing with the Jedi problem is the fact that we would have to contend with the process of stripping today's Jedi of their powers. Basically, we need to make about 10 Jedi maximum on a server, and make them kick ass. 10 is pushing it, but hey. We would pick the 5 best on each server, and as for the Jedi who are inbetween templates, tough luck. The other 50 Jedi would suddenly find that they had hardly any of their original Force capability. They would be nerfed like crazy, and it would suddenly become adviseable for them to switch to a regular profession. However, having been a Jedi, they would be CRAZY at whatever profession they picked. They would own any normal player, because their Jedi experience would give them humongous skill mods. This would help to console most Jeedai. They could get a sword that was chrome plated and pretend it was a big, blueish white lightsaber. They would still own, anyway.

The other 5 Jedi on that server would be new players or vets. It wouldn't matter, because it would be random. Two current players, no matter what their template, would have the OPTION to become Jedi. If they didn't agree to drop their crafter profession, for example, the computer would randomly choose another player, who would disover his/her great fortune the next time they passed through a shady neighborhood or cantina. The next three would be randomly chosen new players. Someone would create a character and would find out after a month or so.

I think this would balance everything pretty well. The Jedi should of course, have a seperate faction and be constantly overt, with a five minute covert state after cloning. They should be slightly less powerful, permanently, after every death.

And we should be able to wear cortosis armor when hunting Jedi (which would suddenly kick ass, because we wouldn't have TEF's except on houses, and we'd be able to fight in space.)

Please use my plan, Mr. Devs!!!

But fix all the bugs first

You lost me after "We have too many Jedi. That's the problem, right? We should have maybe 2 or 3 in each galaxy." I just stopped reading... I'll assume the rest of the post was a call to arms about why we should remove the Jedi with similarities to Nazi Germany both Pre and Post WW2.... An attempt to stir up an old argument with a referenceto an obviously nefarious Country isnot really needed here.

We know there are too many Jedi for "canon." But at the same time, there will never BE"canon" as this game is BASED on the movies/books not a direct representation of.

wonderfull idea..... If you have been a jedi for a long time then you "desever" to continue being a jedi. yeah right. On my server there is a problem with one of the oldest Jedi we have.... he is a *******. That being said, he always seems to barely escape banning. Why should he be allowed to keep jedi? The entire opposite faction hates him... and even the majority of his own faction hates him. But we'll let him stay in power because he is a long time jedi and has some skill.

Here's the truth. No one in this game deserves anything more than anyone else. We all pay 15 bucks a month. And if you want to take away what other people have earned, shame on you. People will quit the game and SOE will lose money. On second thought, maybe it would be for the best, then we can all be freed of this bugg ridden game we are addicted to like cheap crack addicts.

IMHO, its sad they did not set at least a 1 year basis timer on being a Jedi. If they had done that, a lot of this issue would be resolved. The players would have to learn the system of combat and play style before becoming a Jedi since there would be a minimum limit. At that point, sure after 1 year of playing the game and having fun playing regular professions you get your chance to unlock Jedi...and now at the 2 year point, how many would have been Jedi if it took close to a year, or even half a year to unlock...well I can tell you nowhere near the amount there are right now. I'm a fan of the pub 9 rollback on Jedi. If you were a Jedi at pub 9 then let them stay a Jedi, if not, roll it all back and make some sort of staggered progression that will slowly infuse more Jedi into the populace, and maybe other people would find that when there aren't so many Jedi screwing up GCW pvp, we can go back to the old days where there were actually other professions playing this game.

agreed, it should be fairly easy to get FS (cause in all reality, it's not that great now that proffessions can cross support with gen ranged acc, etc.) Be easier to to do the FS grind, but have a time limit on Jedi. I've been playing for 18 months before I got it..... cause I decided to do other things in the game.... not everyone is like that.

heres some other WWII analogies for ya:

Your 'reduction' of the jedi population is very similar to another event:The extermination of the jews in WWII.

Nazis saw the jews as a huge problem, and their solution was to kill every last one. You see the jedi as a huge problem, and you want to kill them all.

As much as I would like to see jedi very rare, your 'Jedi Holocaust'would tear this game apart. The other professions would become allies (like the US/Russia/UK) and join with the uprising jedis (poles, jews, etc) against the mighty BH's (Germans) like you andwar would simply end with them winning and so many people dead (cancelled accounts on both sides).

See the ridiculousness here. Leave RL comparions outta these forums.
