Does anyone know the range from with the duel/end duel be performed from? I was circling a group where my mark was located....over 65 meters out, and I had a duel/end duel pop up.
65m??
if i get within 80m and he's not already bleeding, and lying on his back from underhand shot then i'm doing something wrong.
Yes...65m. In a heavily populated area situation...like Dantooine, foreign dots are not uncommon and not every Jedi freaks out when one gets within 65 meters of the group, especially if it is a fly by. Besides, in a group of 8 of them, they don't know who the BH is after, and they certainly don't all run.
The problem is that the element of surprise is wiped out with the duel/end duel anyway.

We view every dot we don't know as a hostile. If we see you on radar you've lost the element of surprise.
I am also a Jedi...and I can tell you that the groups I hunt with don't view every dot as hostile. With healer and force run, almost any Jedi can take a KD, root and snare and still get away.
To expand on that...how far out does the dot show up on the radar?

1k meter, I think, but its a real small dot. Anyone who doesn't look at an incoming dot as a hostile is either full temp, or has a LS with good pearls.
Yeah..I have some pretty good pearls.
That is the other issue. The element of surprise...from 1000 meters? If the duel/end duel works from 500m, all a Jedi has to do is hover over your dot to get your name, and then /duel <player> from 500m or closer, right?
Then is 0-500 meters enough for a sneak attack? Doesn't look like it. So, the cyber arms won't matter much I guess.
I try to look at dots like that but it is usually messed up by other dots and wps. It doesn't work that well.
I suppose the easy fix would be for you to be able to accept the duel and still get the kill for the mission.

well jedi that aren't dumbasses (there are at least 5 on my server) have it in a macro like i do
/duel;
/endduel
if devs want an easy fix to this they could attach a timer to the duel command just they have with combat specials
when you dueled someone you'd get a message saying "you have challenged MBHjediPwneR to a duel...please wait 30 seconds for them to consider your challenge"
all other duel-related commands/system messages would be suspended for 30 seconds, but the bh would see the challenge and it would have the opposite affect it currently does...instead of giveing the jedi prior knowledge it would give bh's a head's up virtually saying your mark has spotted you, you have 30 seconds to do something about it.
Not a bad idea, but it would suck for all those who actually use duel how it was SUPPOSED to be used. Punish the many for the idiocy of the few... Anyway, just put a toggle in the Options that allows for the auto-decline of incoming Duel requests. That should help things. =]

Personally, I don't even like using the tactic...just takes part of the fun out of the whole experience.
