My modded DPS on my Krayt Adv. Laser Rifle is 928. It was made with plus 190 damage tissues and hascapped damage, capped SAC, and after slice i have 2.23 speed, throw on a speed PuP, and well, you see. It's the best rifle on Starsider. Not that DPS matters, what matters is all the individual variables of the weapon ie. damage, SAC, and speed, and the tactics that i use.

what is the base dps on that gun? and considering you can only put one pup on weapon at a time, i still do not understand how you get those kind of stats.

My Base DPS is 374. And thats pretty much all i can do to explain it. Silly me, i forgot to post that i have a + 25 Rifle Speed CA i'm wearing, but i haven't checked my modded DPS while wearing that. In that case, it's probably about 30 points higher.

With MBH / Master Carbs, a Proton Carbine, unsliced, unpupped is 522 DPS. But, one of the other posters is right; the hard caps on speed resulting from the cool-down timers on specials make this stat most useful if you're using the default "ranged attack." With specials, it's the max damage that seems to count more.

DPS means nothing. I have 2 guns that are capped inSAC and Damage...I do not worry about the DPS

i think base dps and speed DO mean something depending on how you play your role in PvP.

You cant discount speed out of the equation now with the onset of so many healer/melee types emerging.

Do you want to hit real hard and slow or meduim damageand reallyfast? dpends on what you are fighting ultimately,

That post you linked was made before the publish 19 doc/cm healer changes,in at that time they were right but now things have changed yet again.

Here is my gun. Please note that in this pic I am not holding it so my DPS is actually higher than that lol. Although the DPS just does not matter.

I still disagree. Speed does matter but I want to take into account my specials not a base DPS formula that is based off a standard attack. I want to be able to fire of my high damage specials fast and not run out of action...Thus SAC and Damage rule. and if your gun is made right and you have the right template you will hit the point of diminishing returns on the speed mods anyway.

i think this is all rather silly, speed on a weapon effects the cooldown of any attack - basic ranged or adv critical. go get a doctor buff and try it out. speed does matter - therefore DPS does matter - just it has to be taken in proportion to the final damage done and not a exact figure.

note all shots are just a multiple of the base range or melee attack. read the following for a better explanation

well, if you could get a modded dps of 900. That is pretty dam stout. If I was being hit at 900 points/sec with a generic ranged attack. WoW! That would hurt. I would take more damage than I could heal.

900 pts x 5 (time between heals for xx2x healer) secs = 4500 damage - 1050 damage = 3450 unmitigated damage.

o course speed matters but the way the game calculates base dps is irrelevant. I can hit the speed caps with mods....I cannot hit a Damage or SAC cap with mods...I would rather have a gun capped on damage and SAC with a 10% critical slice...Trust me I can fire off specials super fast with my gun and with the right food I never run out of action. What good does all that spped do you if your action runs low halfway thru a fight and I can still keep unloading on you?

from a bit of testing - im finishing off (finding the relationship between speed quoted on a weapon and the basic ranged attack) it looks like a speed of 0.9 ona weapon after mods will shoot at about 1.5seconds per shot. your typical uber laser rifle will do about 950 damge vs a level 80 opposition (from staveenos calculator on Game Guides). so i would guess that a damage of 630 per second is expected from the types of nice rifles were talking about here.

630 x 6 sec (jedi heal timer) = 3780 before armor

3780 x 50% armor= 1890 damage done to a jedi every time he heals for 1500.

assuming action doesn't run out and he doesn't run away...etc... death in about60 seconds and he is constantly healing.
