Only our PFT is limited to 25 meters. the LBC has a 40 meter range, and my elite carbine has a 50 meter range btw! We dont have one specific range anymore like before (which was 17 meters for our specials only). You can see the ranges on the weapons themselves, most are around 40-64 though (including the Proton Rifle).

Id suggest you try out Commando/Carbineer/Pistoleer as carbineer gives charge shot (KD), crippling shot (slows targets), legshot and pistoleer disarming shot (prevents target from firing for a few seconds), burst shot (stuns), and stopping shot (roots). At least, if you do a MC/MC/0404 Pistoleer template. You can always change it up to get body shot, advanced firearm, and advanced stopping shot if you chose to go MC/MP/0440 Carbineer and still keep charge shot and crippling shot if Im not mistaken. It depends exactly on what type of commando you want to be and if you prefer carbines or pistols to supplement your arsenal.

Or you could remain with BH elements for the ranged tanking abilities, go smuggler for some added crowd control, riflemen for longer range with rifles + snipershot and their concealment special (effectively makes the player go invisible).

I personally prefer fast damage, and the ability to be in command of a situation. I get the damage (legshot rocks btw) and some position control with carbineer, and get the rest of my crowd control with Pistoleer.

Damage dealer would be carbines if you like to run and gun. You can get a big boost from just carbines accuracy. The best damage attack outside of master bounty hunter you can have comes at carbines accuracy 3 with improved led shot. Commando is really good at laying down states. That's something to consider. Being able to root a dozen enemies at once has saved everyone's hide in groups I've been in more than once. For damage dealing, and a bit of control, try master carbines, pistoleer 0/4/0/4. You'll get improved burst shot (stun) improved disarming shot (delay), improved stopping shot ( a 20 sec root), +40 ranged accuracy, and +40 ranged/melee defense.
