Could you fathom the amount of posts you'd see in that forum after just 1 week?

It comes down to money and fun. Nobody wants to play a character that does nothing in this game but kill animals. Nobody wants to grind nearly 3 combat professions worth of xp for the top box in Initiate and lose it because of 3 deaths. For that matter throw in what the original poster said of 4 4 4 4 to master and you die. Losing over 33million combat xp = I cant even think of how many times you would have to master all combat professions to equal that. And to think someone would say oh well guess I will start over... IS INSANE!
Sony and the Devs have realized Jedi was FUBAR. They are now doing something to make it a playable profession that will reward you for all the hard work to get it. It will be a fun profession to play and a tough one to level in. We will still be hunted down so when those BH droids work you will be running for your life and not saying how easy it is that you have not died yet. I fear that the droids will be working so well you will not be able to level your character because of the constant hunting.
About the new way to unlock I totally agree. It was my thought before holocrons even were setup that quest played an important role of unlocking your character. Thats why I finished several theme parks and did countless quest in game to help me unlock my slot. Then we find out that its nothing more than master 5 random professions and your unlocked. Adding the quest side of it really helps it out. It will force people to play the game and not create a blank character and do 4 holos and grind to the random 5th. That will limit many people from getting FS right there.
This latest move from Sony kept me from stopping my TWO accounts because Jedi was not worth the time to play. Thats $30 a month more for Sony. Lets hope the revamp of Jedi keeps making it a profession worth grinding up. You have to have fun in a game thats #1. Current system is not fun and gives no reward for hard work.

Personally I think that Jedi should keep permadeath. 3-5 deaths is alot for a Jedi if you are careful which as I understood it is the whole frikin point. Obvioulsy I am in the minority which is why Sony is changing it. The long and short of it is that is comes down to one thing which we all knew anyway=)

I stopped reading the threads in this this forum about 2 months ago when the majority of you were whining about how hard it was to get your slots unlocked. And now I come back and you're whining about the revamp? Have any of you read the details? They said all the hard work you have been 'grinding' through will carry over. I cant believe I came back and what a shocker to find thread upon thread of whining. Whining is definately NOT a prerequisite for opening you slots. And lets clarify a few things while I'm hyped up...It said quest oriented, you will still have to master certain professions, and you will in addition have to follow Jedi related quests. I dont know why anyone can bicker that eighty percent of the players will be Jedi, not nearly 10 percent of them will even make it to Jedi Padawan. Valcyn has several guilds that rely on the current professions. I dont know what game you are playing but to my understanding, 80% of the players here enjoy pvp and playing their profession. Just because obtaining a FSCS is a little clearer and obtainable than it is now doesn't mean I am going to throw away months of collecing attachments and building a solid pvp character to play a Jedi. The way I see it, the whining twelve year olds are the ones who want to be Jedi so badly, they will get their chance and they will fail miserably because they lack the attitude and the committment to play a Jedi, which results in population control. The maturer players who obtain Jedi and acutally make it far enough throught the tree, they are controlled via skill loss upon death. I am satisfied with removal of permadeath because if you have already unlocked your slot then you will see the countless amount of exp required make it through. Do you understand how emotionally stressful it would be if say 4-4-4-4 until Jedi Master were to be slain and had to recreate his character? With the revamp, this character would drop to say 2-4-4-4 rather than lose his entire character.
Thank you so much, I love you!!! Someone that agrees with me!

Too late.. they closed it .. (the general forums)
I have to agree with the Fett.. But, what are you gonna do? I try looking up things that are responded to by Devs, but I still don't find anything usefull for info..
I've resolved to wading neck deap in tears and snot.. until I get my FSCS open, then I'll not read the forums anymore.. except the stickied ones up top, they -might- have something usefull in them, but I'll not hold my breath..
As to the perma-death thing, I think it was a mistake to remove it.. and I think changing the unlocking mechanism (while prudent) will cause tons of problems as SOE has proven time and again that it can't handle creating quests.
Ideally, Jedi saber loot would come from decently long quests that have content, but that would cause issues as your saber rots so fast, and SOE can't create enough quests (unless they are semi dynamic, but those suck soooo bad in this game).. if they actually make sabers -repairable- like they said they would, you really only need to do 4 quests (to get your 5th gen saber).. they could make some decent quests then, I'd guess.. I also think 'grinding' to Master is a joke; Espicially with perma-death removed. They -need- to have you do quests at various stages (say to get the top of each tier or every other box, and to get the top box?) or powergamers will all be Masters in less than a month.
Anyway, my whining is about them making things easier so I'm in the minority.. I'll keep grinding away and hope I get my slot before the revamp. If not, I'm sure I'll be furious at their 'compensation' for my grinding, but I'll try to keep an open mind and see what comes (though, I've played EQ for a few years, and I pay attention to what they are doing here, so being hopefull is VERY hard
I suppose you think that women who marched and sacrificed for the right to vote were "whiners."
I suppose you feel that African Americans whofought for equal rights were "whiners."
If you don't stand up for yourself and voice your opinions, nothing will ever change for the better.
I guess what you really think is that anyone who doesnt agree with you and says so is a "whiner."
Too bad you opinion means no more than anyone elses.
The irony here is, you are just whining yourself about having to read posts that bother you.
You sir, are a whiner.
