Thread: Bounty Hunter Wars Vision of an improved Player Bounty System (updated 06/09/2005)

Very well written and thought out proposal. Too bad that it is neither practical nor even desirable by BHs.
First, a few questions:
Why do you believe it's not practical of desirable by Bounty Hunters?
Would Bounty Hunters not like to have more content and more of a thrill?
Don't we want to roleplay our Bounty Hunters more like the Bounty Hunters are portrayed in Star Wars?
With these questions asked, thank you for pointing out some flaws of the vision and some of your concerns about it. Especially the one about the static spawn NPC leveling, which really is a problem. I am sure there would be some people that would just sit at those spawns all day and report all Jedi there just for the heck of it. Still, spawn camping is a problem, not only with Jedi, but also with all other classes. Something has to be done, although I don't know how this problem could be solved.
Perhaps it would be better if a Jedi would also gain smaller amounts of visibility (compared to being reported by a player character) when killing non-factioned NPCs, yet again, this wouldn't really solve the issues with spawn camping for all players.
I would also like to mention that if you combine this system with my FRS proposal, your point about Jedi being Special Forces wouldn't weigh in so heavy anymore, as Jedi wouldn't be forced to be special Forces or even GCW factioned and thus not as prominently featured in the same.
Also,I wouldn't mind if you shared your thoughts about my visions of smuggler visibility and bounties as well.
Thanks for the reply!

We'd like to have more content, but not at the expense of our current game play. Nothing in your proposal made hunting bounties more fun or enjoyable, just more difficult. Frankly, trying to catch ahalf-templated Jedi at a time where he couldn't completly kick my ass is hard enough, I don't need a new system to make it even harder.

Has been said before, but why not make Jedi more like the Jedi portrayed in Star Wars: polite, defenders of good, and in hiding.

Then let's solve that problem instead of creating a batch of whole new ones.

And this benefits Bounty Hunters how? Yourideas seem more like you are just trying to give Jedi a break, but sugar-coating it enough to look like you are trying to help us out. Again, post this on the Jedi forums and you'll receive a much warmer welcome.

I think there are enough proposals from the Smuggler community to let Wes handle this.

11.As soon asa Bounty Hunter aborts his mission, all his and his apprentice'smission relatedTEFsare cleared and he fails the mission. If this happens in the middle of the mission, combat is terminated immediately, the instanced duel is endedand all mission specificTEFsare cleared as well (for both the Master Bounty Hunter and his/herApprentice if applicable).
ill be honest, i didnt read all the posts yet, but what if bountys on non-jedi players were set up like this:
first if you are reb you could put a bounty on a reb (reverse for imp)
neutrals can place bounties on both reb and imp but would cost more (opisite faction bounties would cost 100k credits times the number of times a bounty has been taken out on that person... Example: if Shareks is the target and this is the first time a bounty has been taken out on him it would cost you 100k credits to take a bounty on him. The next person to take a bounty on him would have to pay 200k and so on and so on)
you could not take a bounty on a player lower then lvl 80 and if that player drops a lvl after you take the mission thats his problem not yours
this will prevent low lvl noobs from getting whacked every 10mins lol.
Players that reach a certin bounty cost (like lets say 5mill or 50 missions taken on them, should get an advantage like an email when a bounty has been taken out on them and by who)
To do a Non-jedi bounty mission you talk to a NPC bounty hunter and pay for EITHER: a npc to attack your mark OR you tell him you will take care of it (if your bh) OR you give him the name of the bh you want to do it.
Then system will then send the hunter an email with the targets name and give 24hour deadline.
NOW HERES THE GOOD PART
when the target is attacked members in his group can assist him, and members in the bounty hunters group can assist him IF THEY ARE FIRST AGRO'D BY THE TARGET OR A MEMBER IN HIS GROUP, this would allow for great pvp (i know this could be a cause for ganking.. but it would be more fun i think..)
If you succed in killing the target JUST THE TARGET... you can loot his items
end result: eventully a target would become too expensive for most to take a mission on him alone and entire guilds or friends would have to chip in to get his mission. The payout of looting his corpse would be worth the cost of paying the mission. A way to sweeten the pot would be if the target could at anytime bribe the npc bounty hunter to increase his mission cost example... if he is at 500k a mission, he could pay 250k to raise the next mission to 750k.
so sounds like it would suck big time for the guy who is the target? guess again HE KEEPS THE ENTIRE MISSION AMOUNT IF THE BH FAILS TO KILL HIM ![]()
what do u think?
this sounds a great idea i think that non jedi bounty's need to be a lot harded to get vis on but other than that it sounds a really good idea.
