Thread: FEEDBACK: Jedi Missions No Longer Showing Player Name, or Bounty Payout
OhBuggah wrote:
By itself, I don't mind anonymizing the Jedi missions. I routinely take missions on 200k+ Jedi. The biggest beef I have with this change is that it does not take into account the legitimate reason for targetting a specific named Jedi: MOST Jedi on the terminals are AFK, locked inside of a private house. One day I took missions on random Jedi all day, and 80% of the time I tracked the Jedi to a locked, private house.
If they go ahead with this change, then the terminals MUST say whether or not the Jedi is inside of a private house. Otherwise it will take 1-2 hours (something non-Power gamers do not have) to actually find a Jedi who is attackable and not in a private structure.
I do not know why all the bounty hunters do not forsee this scenario. It seems they are more concerned with their ability to form up gank squads, than it is to forsee the most negative ramifications of this change: Jedi in privaet structures.

You know, our best chance to get the DEVs to see "reason" is to:
1. Make sure our correspondent knows how we feel
2. Participate on Test Center and communicate to the DEVs how positive or negative a given change affects us.
Whinning and crying will get none of us anywhere. We cant have EVERYTHING we want, but at the same time we dont want to discourage people from being a MBH.
I LIKE:
1. I like having Jedi missions (player missions) only available at MBH.
2. I like having Jedi names removed from the terms **but** only if the name is then given when either you talk to spynet or send a probot (this will help reduce BH gang squads, which whether you agree with it or not, the DEVs dont want). I think having the Jedi faction & rank is necessary.
3. I like having a cool down timer once a BH succeeds or fails when it comes to that particilar mark. *NOTE*, the Jedi in question must still be allowed to get on the terms (so a friend or alt cant sit on his mission) it will just be that the MBH in question cant take the same mission more then once a day or every 3 days at the most.
I DONT like:
1. I dont like making Jedi hunting a crap shoot. The game is suppose to be fun, not work. I dont mind a Jedi being a challenge to find and kill, but not knowing what rank or faction he is means a BH could spends hrs of his/her time only to have to drop the mission because either he isnt going to kill a aligned faction Jedi or he doesnt have the template/tools to kill a high level Knight. That isnt fun or challenging. It is boring.
As you can see I like more then I dont like, but taking the name from the terms needs to be compensated with a guaranteed online status at the time the mission is grabbed, faction alignment, and RANK with the name of the Jedi then provided no later then the probot phase. If SOE does otherwise, it will discourage many BH from hunting Jedi (or even being a BH) while the Jedi population rises higher and higher. That doesnt make sense to me.
Yes, all of us mature BH dont want to grief fellow players and we certaintly dont want to dirve fellow players to quit SWG.However, dont make our profession mundane and boring because SOE doesnt want to be more creative in the way it prevents a BH from causing so much grief to a fellow player that the player has his game ruined.
Being a Jedi means you accepted a PvP lifestyle but it doesnt mean you accepted a class that entitles others to grief you. The easiest solution to all of this is to move the names to the spynet phase or droid phase yet add the faction and rank. Then, to cap it off, a timer of 1 - 3 days is placed on that BH (and only that BH) before he can take that mission again.
Isend my regards tomany honest Bounty-Hunters thinking for both side.
And for those whiners and griefers;
You wanted Jedi to be weak, you got what you wanted, you wanted Jedi to be equal to rest of proffessions, you got what you wanted, now Jedi wanted to be equal 1 on 1, now they got what they wanted. So stop crying just because you can not grief and harrass people in the name of "game mechanics" now.
may I suggest they add to the mission details the penalty for failure be "or else", just to go along with the theme

- All missions on the BH terms (now our black box frogs) will be labeled "Do Something". No further mission details given.
- BH mission payouts will range from 2 to 150 credits, with a 5,000,000 credit penalty for failed missions (EDIT: and now of course put the BH on the terminals themselves).
Bounty Hunter: Great! Who is he, what is his-
Bad Guy: None of that matters.
Bounty Hunter: Um, yeah, I need that info to-
Bad Guy: No you don't.
Bounty Hunter:...
Bad Guy: If you see a yellow light shooting to the sky out of someone's body, you will know it is him.
Bounty Hunter:...
Bad Guy: Go now! I will pay you when you kill him.
The confused Bounty Hunter walks out of the Bad Guys place and sees a wookiee leaning against a wall across the street. The Bounty Hunter proceeds to blow his head off. Bounty Hunter gets out his cell phone.
Bounty Hunter: Was that him?
Bad Guy: Umm, what does he look like?
Bounty Hunter: He's furry-
Bad Guy: No! Now find him and kill him.
The disgruntled Bounty Hunter walks to the nearest cantina for a drink. He steps inside and sees 30 people and a lot of flashing lights. He tells his droid to go to the middle of the room and explode. After the detonation the Bounty Hunter unholsters his pistol, and finishes off the scragglers.
The Bad Guy hears the explosion and comes to check out what happened.
Bad Guy: Wow.
Bounty Hunter: Did I get him?
Bad Guy: No.
Bounty Hunter: Damnit!
It further breaks all role playing aspecs of BH. No more just hunting the opposite faction.
Quite frankly, the notion that BH are consistantly targeting one jedi in particular is a tad far fetched. I have yet to meet a Jedi ingame that claims this is happening. I only see it happening in "whatif" senarios on the forums.
The goal of the Jedi whining about BH terms is to destroy the BH profession. Too many of them can't accept the fact they are hunted. If you impliment this you will cripple BH beyond repair.

I'm sure there are other and better ways to accomplish this. Without breaking the BH proffession. How am I supposed to avoid huntinghigh level paddies now?

Removal of names is kinda good since it prevents the deliberitae greifing of one particular Jedi, and eliminates the ability for Jedi to claim they're being greifed by one BH since mission is luck of the draw.
/fixed
sry lol i couldnt resist
The devs would have to redesign the entire system to keep it functional and also take away the names... Usually any redesigns/changes result in all sorts of things being broken for months.
This is ridiculous, glad I have my token respec on my BH....
Reasons why this is the most idiotic change ever made to the BH profession....
1) Hunting Same Faction Jedi
2) Hunting Same Guild Jedi
3) Hunting low level padawans that have no chance and are not a worthy fight
4) Hunting jedi knights that we have no chance against
5) Not knowing how much we're going to get paid for a mission is ridiculous, why waste the effort if it's a 40k mission?
6) Offline? Online? How do we know till we waste our arakyd?
7) Are our droids going to work on kasshyyk then? Otherwise Kasshyyk is now the jedi playground to level without any fear what so ever. We supposed to go through all 6 of the rryatt trail instances from start to finish constantly mashing tab in the hopes that our target is one of them? And then do the same for the myydrill cave?
8) Where's the Risk/Reward for the Jedi now? No risk, all the reward. If you're going to do this you better beef up bh's even more than a slight increase in dueliststance. Beef up critical shot (fix it so that it actually works for once) and give us a daze in master box since we can no longer have 4000 bh with a dabbler template to hunt.
This is game breaking. I thought we were done finally with the dev's conceding to jedi cries of inadequacies. Having a jedi myself, I'm appauled at this decision. I didn't cry about pub 9 like many jedi did. It's just constant coddling of jedi that's making me sick of this game. Permadeath was removed. Saber TEF was removed. Skillbox loss was removed. Limiting of BH's to go after a jedi to 5 was added. TEF system was completely borked.
Devs, stop concentrating on game systems THAT DONT NEED TWEAKING! The jedi-bh missions were fine. We see a name and a price. If jedi are crying about griefing they can keep their butts off the terminals very easilly. There is no risk now for jedi, none what so ever.
