i agree. and i can't wait for that day.
i seriously doubt the new frs will be pvp, as that is soooo easy to abuse, no matter how the system is set up. prob something along the lines of taking out hardcore new ai monsters & long (hopefully) cool quests.
There is nothing forced about PvP right now. That's why the GCW factional system WAS changed. To allow players to participate in their own way without having to worry about the possibilty of a SF "Elite" PvPer nailing them.
Jedi vs BH is NOT forced. You know when you get your Jedi that you can/will be attackable anytime, anywhere. By going down the Jedi's path you are in essence signing off that you understand the risks associated with the profession. You're argument that PvP is forced is baseless, since no one forced you to get a Jedi. You did that on your own.
Regardless... that forced/accepted/assigned/ PvP... IMHO is going to go away.
I don't agree. The developers are adding MORE PvP with the Ranger and Smuggler revamps. The rumor mill is that we will be removed from the equation and only Rangers will be able to engage the smugglers on missions. Seems like it's paving the way for more interaction between the different classes, and I like it!
Looks like im going MBH/Ranger then

If this were to occur my prediction would be the complete 50% population reduction of SWG followed by another x% drop when the Jedi realize without BH's they have even less to do. The only thing keeping this turd going is thevery unique BH vs. Jedi element. Something you won'tfind inany other game. Itsa real draw for some players. If they want to remove this element then they had better get hot on some real content....BH vs. Jedi is all thats left right now.
The enclave body would vote for the rank directly above them. For instnace... the padawans would vote for knights, knights for Sentinals, Sentinals for Guardians, and Guardians for Masters.
A voting system would limit the "fight club" nonsense that goes on and FRS points would still be needed to be elligible for a rank.

This would be even easier to abuse than fight clubs. No fighting required, just vote for all your friends and guild members.

I'm afraid i have to come down on the "SOE is carebear" side. I've seen this game go from PvP and PvP to PvE with PvP regarded as some kind of weird cult.
Case in point, used to be, with the TEF, you could get killed if you pranced around like an idiot and farmed faction guards right in acity. If you did that, some guy would come and kill you, as it should be. However, a few people got "griefed", they complained, it gone blown into an enormous problem (In all my years with the TEf in place, never once did I get griefed. In the beggining, if I acted like an idiot, I got attacked, but if you just used common sense, you're perfectly safe) and thenTEF was removed. Even saber TEF was removed!
Now, the only thing that has anything more than a whiff of PvP is BH vs. Jedi. You'd think the GCW would have it, but appearantly they felt not. I'll believe that SOE is going to mvoe away from it's carebear oriented changes when i see it.
Being "old-school" it pisses me off when I see opposing faction combatants killing my faction's npcs and there isn't a damn thing I can do about it.

Well yeah jedi scream about nerfs and oh how they are so much weaker then pre cu. Well yes they were in fact they were very powerfull pre cu very overpowered. However, cu was made tobalance the game and jedi as it was pre cu was very unbalancing. FRS is gonna be fix however it may not be what the jedi think its gonna be.... The way they see it is that they are Full temp padawans right nowandif FRS is fixed they are going to be stronger. However when FRS is fixed they are going to have to make Padawans weaker. Why? Because of "Balance".
That is what taking the devs so long if they put FRS back in the way it was before there goes balance out the door. The only way to go about this is to make what a full temp is now a jedi guardain or knight. Jedi Masters have every right to be stronger however if they just make jedi stronger and not weakerwe are going to haveto balance BH to deal with them, I'm not saying a bh should go toe to toe with jedi Masters but they should at least with a jedi knight or Guardain.
Rember jedi in this time period are the bad guys and should fear BH even when doing trails, I just hope Trails isn't too easy when it comes back or else we are going to have severs full of master jedi....

Interesting post. Another issue here is that EVERY player in the game is less powerful now. Any player with a decent/full template was a god, pre-cu. My character was a MBrawler/MSword/MFencer/Medic. No npc in the game could kill me, and I could kill anything with ease. Sure, I had great equipment.... I have to admit that it was absolutely ridiculous from any viewpoint that my characater could tank 3 Rebel bases worth of npcs while a base bust team took out the base. Or even for factional grinding! I simply could not be killed.
In PvP, I was a god also. Sure, I lost from time to time, but usually not to Jedi. I would usually loss to a CM with some NASTY mind DOTs. Toss 'n Run..... remember that? I would quickly kill the CM that hit me, but I would normally die from a triple incap.
The situation in the game now, is that it's VERY dangerous to go out alone. Which to me, is as it should be. However, I also feel that we could be a little more powerful in PvE. The removal of damage types was key to blowing this for the player base. It used to be that we could /examine a target to find it's weakest stat. Say it was blast damage, then I would switch from my Scythe or Stun Batton, to my PowerHammer and lay waste. Now.... we have Energy, and Kinetic. Elemental is nice, but the damage modifiers just aren't high enough.
On the FRS.... I think there SHOULD be Jedi Masters, but I'm a fan of limiting the number of Jedi Masters, Guardians, Sentinals, etc. I envision a system that required prerequisite numbers of Jedi before a ceratain title became available as follows:
Jedi Knight - Must had 10 players in the enclave
Jedi Sentinal - Must have 25 players in the enclave
Jedi Guardian - Must have 50 players in the enclave
Jedi Master - Must have 100 players in the enclave
The enclave body would vote for the rank directly above them. For instnace... the padawans would vote for knights, knights for Sentinals, Sentinals for Guardians, and Guardians for Masters.
A voting system would limit the "fight club" nonsense that goes on and FRS points would still be needed to be elligible for a rank.
So, if there were 300 Jedi in a the Dark Jedi Enclave....
There would be 30 Knights, 12 Sentinals, 6 Guardians, and 3 Masters
Is this how it's set up now, and I just don't know it!?
You know.... we could debat this all day, and I'm sure this post will get VERY long, but perhaps it's in the wrong forum?
