Thread: BH Perspective on balanced FRS/BH idea
Hey guys, i posted this in the jedi forums also, but i wanted to gauge the BH response to it also.
And i wanted to keep the repsonses seperate from the Jedis to prevent any possible flame wars.
Jedis seem to respond fairly positively, so i hope the same happens here.
Note that i am a MBH and have been or on my way to being one since launch and have never had a jedi and dont intend to get one.
Note specific BH info regarding this idea:
WHAT DO BOUNTY HUNTERS GET OUT OF THIS?
PVE Jedi who dont complain about being hunted (no skill loss)
Jedi who dont try to get us nerfed to hell (theyre uber, we balance by bringing friends)
Jedi who are willing to fight (They dont lose regular jedi skills, only FRS skill, and can be rapidly regained)
Jedi who arent sitting in houses or other places where we cant attack them (no advancement on FRS planet or in structures, as well as the encouragement to be out and about gathering loot)
Hunt in groups (MMultiplayerORPG)
More cash (Higher rank = bigger payout, bring ur friends, everyone gets cashed up)
Names on Terms back (paddys cant be griefed, jedi become named)
Ability to track jedi on Kashyyk (Regular Jedi can do all the quests they want without losing xp, it is possible they will be hunted, but higher payouts on harder targets discourage this)
In the GCW, everyone gets Jedi who are balanced 1:1 with a regular prof
Smokah and Monkahs FRS EXPANSION PACK!
This post outlines a possible FRS designed to benefit the Jedi population, BHs and SOE all at the same time! WowZeRz!
The first and most important change is the removal of JEDI XP Loss from death for the regular Jedi profession.
Regular Jedi will lose absolutely ZERO JEDI XP if they are killed by a BH, NPC or themselves if they accidently saber themselves in the foot.
This is also a good time to mention the distinction between a regular Jedi and a FRS Jedi.
A normal jedi will be power balanced at a 1:1 ration to any other regular profession, which also allows it to be balanced with PVE.
A normal jedi will be equivalent to the current fully templated Jedi at this point in time.
Those Jedi who yern for a more challenging development of their power can undertake in the FRS.
The force ranking system is a risk vs reward scenario.
REWARD:
Depending on the Jedi's FRS Level, their power will be increased at a significant rate. Lets say there are +4 FRS levels.
A FRS Jedi who has completed the level one rank would be as powerful as 2 regular profession PC combined.
A FRS Jedi who has completed the level two rank woudl be as powerful as 3 regular profession PC combined.
This would continue up to level 4 for example, where the jedi would be as powerful as 5 regular players.
ADVANCEMENT:
You're probably wondering how a FRS jedi will advance their rank.
Well its very simple and very fair, and there is NO GRINDING INVOLVED.
As this system will most likely take a fair chunk of dev time, the system should be based around a FRS EXPANSION.
The expansion can be purchased by those players who have unlocked their Jedi slot.
The expansion will provide a new planet in which to conduct FRS activities, only Jedi will be able to access this planet.
The planet will be fairly small and will provide facilities for a DARK vs LIGHT group battle arena system.
Advancement will be timer based. For each time segment, the FRS XP of all Jedi will count upwards.
The rate of advancement will be subject to certain conditions and player based interaction.
Timer based FRS XP will never count downwards.
On each server, DARK and LIGHT jedi may battle each other in group deathmatchs.
If your JEDI faction wins the match, a +1 score will be awarded to your faction.
The faction with the most overall points will have their FRS XP advancement rate doubled.
The faction with the least overall points will have their FRS XP advancement rate halved.
Each Battle should have an equal number of starting players on each faction.
Every 24 hours, the total faction points of both sides will be reset to 0.
PARTICIPATION ENCOURAGEMENT
If your character participated in a winning battle, your jedi will receive a +1 multiplier for a limited time.
Introduce a new mission board with special NPC marks for Jedi, simliar to the current BH system.
These marks will spawn on all planets bar the FRS planet and will drop Jedi only loot.
The marks will be based upon the Jedi's FRS rank and will range from +1 to +4.
A +4 Mark will be equivalent to a +4 FRS Jedi and should scale for increased number of players grouped with this jedi.
A +4 Mark will drop the most uber jedi loot (insert flawlesspearl here), and this loot should only drop from these marks, and no other NPCs.
Jedi who sucessfully complete a JEDI Mission Mark will recieve a +2 multiplier to their advancement rate for a limited amount of time.
FRS jedi who are killed by a mission mark will not lose any FRS rank.
Death to regular NPCs will result in rank loss, however this should not be a problem due to the power scaling.
(Regular NPC equiv to regular Jedi)
FRS Jedi participating in SF GCW combat will not recieve FRS rank bonuses whilst SF and can not lose FRS rank in GCW combat. (While SF=True, RANK=0)
RISK/BALANCING:
Yes, risk vs reward, includes risk funnily enough. If you want to cut swaths, then the system must be balanced to promote fair play for all.
For each rank that a Jedi increases, this allows for +1 BH to share the same mission.
A BH may take the mission and group with up to 4 other regular profession players.
A level 1 FRS Jedi may face battle with 2x BH (or 1 BH + non BH)
A level 2 FRS Jedi may face battle with 3x BH (or 1 BH + combination)
This would continue up to where a level 4 FRS Jedi may face battle with a combination of 5 regular players.
Remember that the power of the FRS will be approximately equal to that of 5 regular players.
The system is designed to be fair!
The payout of the mission will multiply equal to the number of regular players that may attack the jedi.
FRS Jedi who are killed by a BH combat will lose 1 FRS rank and FRS XP will be reset to 0.
Note also that only FRS rank may be lost, regular Jedi profession skills /xp can never be lost.
FRS Jedi who participate in a winning FRS arena battle will gain visibility.
FRS Jedi who participate in the successful death of a special Jedi mark will gain visibility.
A jedi will remain on the terms until their death.
EXPLOIT PREVENTION
Each character may only participate in 5 battles per day.
If your character has not participated in any matches in the last 24 hours, ur advancement will be paused.
A characters XP advancement timer will be paused whilst on the FRS planet, and whilst inside structures, in space, offline,
or any other area unaccessable to BH.
Implement a SABER TEF for FRS Jedi inside NPC cities. (Disabled on the FRS Planet)
The general design principles are based around allowing a regular PVE jedi to grind / be a jedi / do quests, encouraging participation of PVP FRS jedi through incentives, balancing the FRS system though balanced BH combat and without interfering with regular jedi. It gives some end game to Jedi, BH, and balance to the GCW.

BHwould beable to hunt the all the Jedi. Non-FRS Jedi would recieve no regular XP loss, and FRS Jedi lose rank (only down to rank 0 FRS Jedi). FRS Jedi can only be hunted on planets other than the FRS planet, however there is incentive not to AFK on this planet as the jedis FRS XP advancement would be paused. As the jedi gets more powerful, a BH may bring other BH or non BH friends to help in the attack. The other players do not require any BH skills, just be in the BH group. The group size would have a limit for the BH depending on his mark. The system is meant to be very dynamic and Jedi advancement would be fast. The truely masterful jedi should still be able to retain their high rank if theyre good enough. There will be a constant power battle between Dark and Light.

i like it all except that if we get a saber tef at rank 0 we should be a little better then 2 players, maybe put a saber tef at rank 2 or so
Regular Jedi would be numerous and they would be risking equipment decay by getting the saber out.
FRS Jedi have more power but also have more risk. So if they felt powerful enough at the time
they may risk being killed, but if they are they lose a FRS Rank, and if theyre Rank0, they face
only equipment decay as a non FRS jedi would.

The point of the Saber TEF in NPC cities would be to discourage saber use in NPC Cities

Personally, i dont see a reason for a TEF on force run, just glowsticks
Replying to this thread because I was asked...
But anyhow, it's been a long day and my eyes hurt from reading that font. Aside from being able to bring friends against FRS Jedi, what exactly are Bounty Hunters getting out of this?

That's what I was thinking also. It was well written but really why would I want to help Jedi move up on the FRS?
You'll probably say something like this: "Well. More Jedi would stay to fight you."
I know a lot of Jedi like to think they control the situation when they run. But in all honestly Jedi that run hardly makes a difference to the BH experience. Good BH always find a way around that and plan for it. As for more credits... not really interested in that either. The best BH's already have the best gear.
I'm not against giving the Jedi FRS, I dont care either way. But I fail to see why I would be concerned with it as a BH.
I probably have to re-read that, but it's just so long I had to skim most of it. Maybe if you recapped and highlight some key points pretaining to BH's, we can respond more concisely.
I think its a good proposal, but one thing as a bounty hunter I would like... when we kill our jedi amrks it would be awesome to loot a non working Lightsaber with the jedi's name on it that we can display in our house... I would LOVE to see that hehe
Malachy
Same here man I wish they didnt do that

I personally don't like the idea.... I love things how they are as everything is more balanced. Most of my friends are jedi and I want to be able to pvp with them without being the "weak link" and without having to go jedi. I don't want them having to spend a lot of their time on a planet that I can't even get to. Makes it boring for me and I would have no point in playing if I couldn't hang with my friends. I like what BH's get and I love how the system works (minus us not being able to see the name of the target on the temrs before hand).

lol actually, by comment i meant reply to me if you had any suggestions or spotted any potential problems, but now that ur here...
BH get:
PVE Jedi who dont complain about being hunted (no skill loss)
Jedi who dont try to get us nerfed to hell (theyre uber, we balance by bringing friends)
Jedi who are willing to fight (They dont lose regular jedi skills, only FRS skill, and can be rapidly regained)
Jedi who arent sitting in houses or other places where we cant attack them (no advancement on FRS planet or in structures, as well as the encouragement to be out and about gathering loot)

Ability to track jedi on Kashyyk (Regular Jedi can do all the quests they want without losing xp, it is possible they will be hunted, but higher payouts on harder targets discourage this)
Less emphasis on FOTM BH. (Everyone complains about FOTM BH, a lot of ppl come to BH because of its PVP, and able to hunt jedi, by allowing non-BH group members to assist in BH mission, profession numbers level out more.)
In the GCW, everyone gets Jedi who are balanced 1:1 with a regular prof
The whole thing is aimed at giving everyone what they want.
I dont want to hunt Jedi who PVE only, I dont want to hunt Jedi who whinge they got killed.
I want it to be fair and fun. Extends Risk vs Reward above the regular jedi.
Theyve already got glowsticks, and they are many, we're past the point of 'Jedi are meant to be rare'
Lets get on with the game.
No matter how hard anyone trys to unrelate the two professions, they are combined forever. What effects Jedi effects BH and vice versa.

I already have everything I want.... and taking away from that would be taking away something that I like. I enjoy killings padawans sometimes. I enjoy being able to face any jedi by myself and still stand a chance. I enjoy everything about the BH experience and would be very disappointed if it changed. Again, the only thing that would be cool would be if names came back on the terms. Other than that, It is my belief that SOE has BH right on!
Oh yeah, add smugglers to theterms![]()
