Thread: Cover Is it practical for a BH to use?

I just tried to use cover as a poor mans cloak in a bid to stay hidden and sneak up on a Jedi Hiding in his house. I managed to crawl for about 300m without it breaking but alas a few Huurtons spawned on top of me with 150m to go and broke it, alerting him to my prescence.

Overall I think the idea was a good one and it would also mean that I could also use sniper shot as a first strike and catch him totally unawares, however is it practical? I was wondering if any other BH/Riflemen had tried this technique/tactic and what their thoughts and experiences were?

I dont see how it can be all that useful for any PVP really. One or two shots and they will know where you are and run close enough to break cover. I havent personally tried using it but it just doesnt seem like a good way to take on a Jedi... great for NPC missions tho.

It's useless unless you're really lucky. You need do drop into it at 512m. However it's so slow that in most cases the Jedi will have finished his lair and moved on by the time you get within 64m, Add to the the insane number of spawns in many places that will probably break it.

If it's going to be of any help the default crawl speed will have to be upped toat least 75% of walking speed.

"There was lots of reading, much too much, in the game. There was a lot of wandering around learning about different abilities. We really needed to give people the experience of being Han Solo or Luke Skywalker rather than being Uncle Owen, the moisture farmer. We wanted more instant gratification: kill, get treasure, repeat. We needed to give people more of an option to be part of what they have seen in the movies rather than something they had created themselves."

It's my understanding that terrain negotiation affects run speed up to 50, but everything past that point is crawl speed. AFAIK, the BH pre-req's gives us 40 TN.

Is there a TN food? Tapes can get you into the crawl-speed affecting range and with some food to help it along the way...

As an update to the above Iwent after tha same jedi again today after he had got away earlier. I covered at about 400m and slowly crawled toward his house.

Anyway after what seemed like hours I finally managed to get a good spot to open up from and waited for a bit. After about 2-3 minutes, a guildmate of mine drove past and managed to break my cover. The Jedi was subsequently alerted and I had no choice but to make like a tree and leave.

I'll not be doing it again. It breaks far too easily and takes absolutely ages to get into position. Next Time I'll wait 500m away and wait for them to move I think.

The best time is camping their house, they unknowingly come out and pull out their million dollar AV-21 then.. KABOOM...

try +25 terrain neg tapes +travel biscuits (+18 or so) - you crawl really fast, like 1-2m per second - you can also go beyond that into group terrain neg if u feel the need, and group with a droid

its more practical on pve missions. Use conceal shot twice. Followed by kneecap shot then sniper shot. Then just alot of shots to kill the mark. Gives ya 3 free shots.

i think its freaking great, lets u sit in wait watchinig them to take damge on a mision then conceal shot n sniper shot i drop about 250 m away u have to be aware of your surroundings for it to work really. but i think the best tip any bounty hunter can get is patiance n this lets us do it. try walking up 65 meters away n hiding, they will walk up to n say hey bh lets fight /duel /end duel

Umm,

My style is ride me bike as fast as poss, then jump at the last moment. figure out what is going on when i get there. usually you can see if they are at a lair or near their house when stomin in. Need to judgge all this in the last 20 secs.

I used to use cover, but so much time was wasted due to A)being discovered and having to reapproach. and B) so slow even with TN AA +15 . by the time i have got my aim ready, all the group hunting the lair had finnished and drive right over my head lol. I felt so stupid.

So, now I choose the brave option and take the risk of storming in. 1/4 of the time, I get lucky with the jedi in the middle of something,

I think, it is really down to your style of play. Cover dont work for me, but sneaking around might be great for someone else. You have just got to be well aware of your surroundings and you can do very well with it and surprise the hell out of him/her with a great Alpha attack.

Well cover only works under certain situations. I would love to see anyone able to get a successful cover on Dantooine in the 2k grinding group ring around the MO.

I loved to use it when I was SF. Camping outside rebel outposts waiting for overt rebs. Waiting to catch 1 by themselves. Worked like a charm.

Watching them freak out was awesome.

me and another rifleman/bh where advance scouts in teh defense of AH yesterday and we both went undercover on the hills outside. Alas the imp raiding party we were expection came up on their bikes and we were able to stay underover until they had ridden a bit past us before we opened fire destroying about 4 of thier bikes and totally disrupting thier attack. We were also able in this act to send word back to AH, and the imps were taken out. Besides this ive never found it too beneficial a skill in pvp. Especially with hunting jedi /shrug
