Thread: Organ Harvesting, or How to Be a Really Cold Greedy **edit**

OK, this is gonna be a bit longish but bear with me. Here is an idea that will help us with investigation without taking up skill slots, and would benefit other professions as well:

Suppose that humanoids dropped organs, the same way that creatures drop hide and bones. These organs would be worth a pretty penny on the black and grey markets.

Now, anyone could harvest organs, but organs from BH marks are worth the most because theycan be matched ina DNA database of people who have been "serviced" by a BH, and so their death is quasi-legitimate. Mark organs could be sold on the grey market making them more profitable and easier to sell, while organs from other NPCs could only be sold on the black market and would be risky and less profitable to sell (kinda like trying to pawn a watch that you can prove is yours vs. trying to pawn one that is obviously hot).

Now, BHs are able to do a crude harvesting of organs based on scout skills (other scouts can do it as well, although BHs have the advantage of having a supply of marks to harvest), but for the organs to remain viable they have to be processed and packed by a doctor--for a fee of course. Or perhaps the doctor would prefer to buy the organs outright.

There's one more problem for the organs though--they are condidered biohazard material and so are quarantined if you try to get them through a spaceport in the processed form (BHs would be able to get the raw organs through a spaceport to get them to a doctor, but to be acceptable to a medical center they must be packed in a container that transmits its contents). So they are sold to smugglers, who then can get them quickly to where they need to be and sell them for a profit to medical centers (and, of course, get smuggler xp by actually smuggling).

That's awesome, dude. We need more ideas like this =)

We can onlydream that this will get in though. The devs oddly add new game systems even when current ones are broken, and there's no rhymn or reason apparent (to me) as to which they choose tocode in and which ideas get sent to the Bit Bucket.

I also see LucasArts as perhaps having an issue with an idea this... gruesome? Grotesque as it may be (not all that bad, really), it would be cool. I can see Bio-Engineers enjoying the ability to work with it. A mark had resists to everything but cold? BAM, throw a kidney into a clothing enhancement and voila!, a Wookiee hide jerkin with resistances Ah... it is good to dream... Coming soon... in SWG2

Uggh..how gross, and utterly amusing. I still think harvesting bones predator-like would be amazing. I have always been a proponent for making a bh camp that simply came from humanoid bones and hide!I really want to make a jawa camp!

I always thought it was unfair that I couldn't make a tent out of human skin and bone. I do have just one question though. After you get the organs to a doctor and packaged, what exactly do they do?

I would just like to have the chance to harvest the skulls of cretures and opponents alike and have them displayed on a wall in my house. A trophy wall if you will.

Organs would have condition, or vitality, and if you didn't get them packed soon, they would lose some of their attributes.

That's what I imagine happening if you didn't get them packed soon, at least.

It's not completely macabre. The idea is that the organs would be used by med centers for transplants--though you need a doctor to package them and a smuggler to deliver them. This kind of organ harvesting goes in in the real world all the time in places like China and India, though it's illegal in the US.

...and that is when I awoke in a strange bathtub. I was surrounded by ice. It was cold, so very cold. There was an envelope on the floor. I opened it..."I have harvested your organs. The ice is keeping you from falling over dead. Call a Master Doctor. NOW! - Signed Your Friendly Neighborhood Bounty Hunter. P.S. Justice has been served. Have a Nice Day."

Yeah be careful when travelling. Someone might buy you a drink and before you know it you'll be sitting in a bathtub filled with ice

Ok.....thats just morbid.

Passerby: "Um, what are you doing?"

BH: "I just killed this mark. I need his liver. He is the perfect size. Its worth 20k on the market....my mortgage payment."

Passerby: "That's just gross. You've got his innards all over you."

BH: "Dammit!..I thought I only head shot him...this liver is ruined."

Passerby: "Good, what you are doing is just ghoulish."

BH: "Hmm, wha?.... Hey..........how much do you weigh?"

The second hurtle to a complete revamp, is that the game has been live for three years. To completely change an avatar that a player has spent three years crafting seem rather…unkind.
