Life is going to suck without at least basic medic skills. If you get hit with a good dot, you are going to die and there will be nothing at all you will be able to do about it.

how about this

smuggler 0,1,1,4

Mst rifleman

tka 4,0,0,4

Medic 4,3,3,1

if thats not good, just make a template that you think is, just as long as it has rifleman

Good template for what?

I'm a Master Rifle, Master Marksman, 4440 Medic, and I like it just fine. Gives me a good opportunity to heal wounds and such, and thus a more rewarded, rounded character to play.

If you're talking pure combat, defense stack like the rest of the dabblers.

This is my idea for a template:

Squad Leader 0-4-4-4

Master Teras Kasi

Fencer 4-0-0-0

With this, i can get 148 Ranged Defence and 150 Melee Defence(Because of caps stats)

Good to PVP with also for my group, will get most of them up to these stats also.

Does leave novice medic out though, damn these skill points

On a side note:

Do SL's get their bonuses as well as giving them to the group?

How close does the group have to be to receive these bonuses?

My answer depends on what you want to hear.

If you want to know wether this template is strong in PvP, my answer is yes, it is, kinda, but it is ultimately flawed. Encounter a group of people that know what to do and you are toast. I killed people with 210 ranged defense and CoB. I would have no problems to hit you either.

If you want to know wether this is a successful SL template, my answer is No! You simply are no Squad Leader. Your whole built is about "how do i get harder to hit" instead of "How could i benefit my team the most". It is a horrible build. You completely lack ranged combat. You lack any support skills other than those from SL.

So, in short: A mediocre PvP template, strong against newbies, useless against vets, and a horrible SL template.

Does that answer satisfy your curiosity?

Besides all that defence stacking is capped at 125 now...

ya defense is capped at 125, but TH said you the SL bonus adds to that, so a possible total of 155 to both.

Not a bad template, i'm dabbling with a template that includes squad leader too and i really like it, the template I use is kind of crowed control.

The template I made is

Master Smuggler

Pistoleer 0-2-4-2

Squad Leader 0-0-4-4

Leviticus

The cap also does not take skill attachments into account, so the theoretical max jumps to 180 for ranged/melee defense.

I am pretty sure it affects ranged and melee defense as well.

But it is possible they changed it. Will do some testing on this...
