Thread: Pub 20 will kill my playstyle, worth it?

I realize the devs must make aggregate decisions and I am probably an exception. I would just like the devs (and Jedi and BH's who desire Pub 20 changes) to be aware of the following:

My template is MBH, Master Carbineer, and some pistols. I do not go for FOTM (I had this template pre-cu). I am not interested in the best/easiest way to hunt. I just enjoy carbines. However, I cannnot go toe-to-toe with any Jeid over 150k worth his salt. I can't tell you how many times I have dueled Jedi after I had a successful mission on them and they worked me simply because they were prepared. I need to prepare for them, and not knowing my mark's name makes that neigh impossible. Not knowing their level prior also makes that very difficult. How one fights a 40k mark (with other prof skills), a 125k mark, or a 225k mark are all very different.

Furthermore, I only hunt /db a mark once. Once I have a successful mission, I do not hunt them again. If I got them at 25k (pre-cu) or even 250k, I will kill them once. I mark that in my friends list and do not take their mission again. If I don't know the name of my mark until I arrive, I will no longer hold back.

I am a casual player. I don't have the time to spend days hunting targets. I get an hour or two on average a couple of times a week. Imagine the frustration of being able to take only 2 -3 missions and not being able to differentiate between fully templated Jedi and the more challenging but still possible sub200k guys. Or worse, when you do find a fully templated guy begging for PvP at the MO, not being able to find his specifc mission to give him a shot.

Of course, my situation should only be considered among the 1000's of players. But please, devs and others, do at least consider it. If need be I will go make another BH on another server that is the FOTM combat medic, and push the buttons, but man I will miss the good fights and friends I have now.

Quitters never win, winners never quit, but those who never win AND never quit are idiots.

Hopefully Jedi names will be given at some stage of the hunt before pub 20 hits live.

definatly worth it......now, instead of allowing the mechanic to do the work for you, eliminating virtually all risk, you will have to expose yourself to a little taste of what your targets experience. sometimes you will be outclassed, sometimes they will be laughable...the mechanic will be more fun in that there is potential for excitement and enjoyment on both sides with pub 20. instead of you and everyone else targetting the same few people, all hunters will be facing targets from baby paddies all the way to full template, reducing the load on those who can't yet properly defend themselves and giving completed templates back the thrill of being hunted.

positives all around 100% worth it

No it don't. The element of surprise is gone. The very same advantage that Jedi claim to justify their 1.5x strength just went out the window.

Jedi will know before the BH who his opponent is in most scenarios. Someone suggested a flyby to identify the mark and attack at a better time. Guess what, we now have only three days to complete our mission.

Give us a name when we are at 1024m at least that will do.

"There was lots of reading, much too much, in the game. There was a lot of wandering around learning about different abilities. We really needed to give people the experience of being Han Solo or Luke Skywalker rather than being Uncle Owen, the moisture farmer. We wanted more instant gratification: kill, get treasure, repeat. We needed to give people more of an option to be part of what they have seen in the movies rather than something they had created themselves."

christ people your surprise is not gone. It's hardly any different than before, or are you saying this without even testing it yourself? You just don't know the name untill you click on the jedi (only thing that hinders you is if there are multiple jedi in the group) You can do your recon, your cover, and all just like before, trust me, I've been hunted on TC and it's quite possible to keep your surprise, it's just not as easy as it is now

This is hurting those that fly in with a /store swoop /target /stoppingshot macro... now recon is actually a necessary

yes...3 days...thats 72 hours to complete the mission....you dont need to attack on the first, the fifth or even the one hundred and seventh time you fly by....just do it, or drop the mission, you have 72 hours

Anyone who has jumped into a group of grinding paddies realizes that there are a lot of issues with this. Tabbing through targets is a joke. When you have mobs of creatures and paddies scattering across the countryside, you will be lucky to grab him before he is in a house. Second, if they get into a vehicle with their buddies before you figure out their name and target them, they will be gone and you still won't know who they are. Driving by is idiotic as well. If I hunt a deer, I don't walk up to the one I want in the pack to count it's points then go back up in the tree stand to get it. More than likely it will be spooked and gone. Without a name, Kashyyk is a completely free jedi grinding zone where they can't be traced and hunted. It's bad enough as it is trying to track one down on Kash with only a NAME (the only way we can find them right now.) With this patch, if they're on Kash you might as well get a new mission.

I have a Jedi and several BH's in different configurations for their temps. Jedi is way too easy too achieve as it is. It took me many, many months to grind it (my Jedi is pre-pub 9) where as I see some today that gofrom initiate to full template in less than a week. With that kind of time span, the devs should be making it easier to hunt Jedi, not harder.

being a "known" bh in your galaxy will have its drawbacks, like being spotted by a lookout before you even approach a target. We all know each jedi has its stooges...........and rightfully so, but now i'll have to show up and manually target away at the jedi or tab through until i find it.........that's if he didn't run away before i figured it out.........seems slightly assinine to lose surprise and negate first strike.

Jabba: Bobba i need you to kill someone.

Bobba:Cool, What's the name?

Jabba: Tee Hee, can't tell you that, but i can tell you that they are in the galaxy right now.

Bobba: Errr ok, what do i get paid..?

Jabba: Tee Hee, not telling you consider it a surprise.

first thing, bounty hunting and deer hunting arn't the same. Yes, BH's do survey their mark first. Drive by, act like your lagging, at least get the name. Your not in danger, they can't attack. At worst they are gonna go run off, but your not attacking yet anyway.

And also tab, you all do realize it goes by field of view? It doesn't tab around every creature around you, just whats in the direction your looking at, you can easily modify your view to only contain a small group...Less there's some option I'm unaware of

As I said, this kills the run-n-gun bounty hunters, now it actually takes some thought!

And TC has always ended up to be the live game, don't kid yourself..

But all that aside, even I agree you should be getting the name at some poine, for "logics" sake. Say with the seeker droids... /shrug
