Thread: So I shot up a Jetpack yesterday...

Yesterday I tracked my mark to Theed, out front of the starport. I tab around and find the mark about 100m away with a group of other jedi. Buff were running like mad, so I hoped that the Jedi would be dueling someone soon. Then outta nowhere, a guy on a jetpack comes flying in and meets up with my mark! Then my mark starts saying things like "My turn! My turn!"

The guy who had it says, "Ok, just don't get it blown up!"

I thought, "Awesome." And soon enough, my mark jumps up into the air on it. Well, I figured it was worth it to take out a jet pack. So I target it, Crit shot, and it's done! It goes flying off, my mark jumps out. The fight was pretty quick thanks to a poorly timed KD bug and some well timed lag. But, as I lay there incapped with Jedi slapping my face, I read in spatial as the Jedi proclaimed:

"Triple incap him!"

So as the incap timer wears down, I'm spamming my stims and bacta shot. I jump up, heal, KD, snare and burst run outta the scene! I made it onto my swoop and was able to retreat!

I went back later after the Tef had worn off but the Jedi was buffed, and then logged out. Never got to finish it, but it was a lot of fun taking out a jetpack, even if they can be fixed now.

Note to Jedi: If you have a chance to DB a BH, then do it.

Hehe, yeah. I love taking out expensive vehicles because even though they can be repaired, it's going to cost them ~500k to do it.

Well, Ahazi's economy is terrible, it's about 500k here.

Anyway, I don't think I would be considered a griefer, I'm just in it for the thrill of the hunt.

In this time period Jedi are nothing more than criminals, they shouldn't even be in towns let alone riding around in expensive vehicles in front of large amounts of people where some are there trying to kill them.

Grief my arse

Perfectly legal move..

Dumb for the jetpack owner to give his friend a chance right in the middle of a big city...

I am guessing he will not do that again

What is with kids these days and labeling ever single thing they don't like as 'griefing'??? Sorry, but not everything ingame ismade of gingerbread, cookies, and lemon drops. Not everything is going to be 100% fair. If you want that go play a FPS. This is an MMO and we are bounty hunters. I am going to use every tactic to my advantage when trying to kill my mark. I will blow up swoops, BARCs, and jetpacks. I will wait until you are at half health before I jump you. I will use everything in my arsenal to give a Jedi XP Loss. Absolutely NONE of this is griefing. These are actions we can do because the developers put them ingame. If you don't like it then I suggest you wear a helmet because things won't get any easier.

LOL...how is this griefing? I love how some people say having a bh follow them from planet to planet is griefing as well. If you are not ok with another playing being able to attack you, that is what the alt character on the same server is for. Logout your jedi...conduct your business.

To anybody who thinks that this wasn't griefing -- reread the original posters message a little more carefully.

Griefing is when the primary motivation is not to improve your own playing experience, but when you are intentionally trying to hurt another person's playing experience.

There's absolutely no problem with shooting a jedi's ride when it helps you complete your mission. They may not appreciate it, but the primary goal is to help yourself kill that jedi, and it is in no way griefing.

What came across as griefing to glarg, is the initial posters enthusiasm over doing so. Not a matter of fact of thing that he had to do in order to get his mark, but something he didn't need to do, but deliberately waited for specifically, independently from attacking the jedi. There is no advantage given to him for blowing the jetpack, he did it as stated, so the jedi would need to spend 500k repairing it. This is undisputably griefing, however you feel about jedi or bh. Anytime you go out of your way to cause harm to another player, without gaining anything for it yourself, you are griefing.

At the same time, the jedi was engaging in griefing if he was deliberately trying to triple incap the BH, when he had a chance to deathblow.

The biggest problem with Jedi/BH relations is when players on either side turn it froma war in which they are each driven by personal rewards, to a case in which they just want to cause damage to each other. This turns it from a possibly fun and interesting game dynamic into one laced with hate and spite, where it's hard to watch a single fight without seeing both sides try to grief each other as much as possible.

Griefing?

It's the Jedi's fault for jetting around in public when he's on the terminals.

No decay + uber loot = /spit on crafters

Fix the economy and give crafters their $$$ worth... give us real revamp.

Remember... to Cancel you have to go to Register Expansion in the Launchpad.

Kids? Give me a break, it's griefing when the only reason why he chose that time to attack him was to make him pay 500k to get the jetpack replaced. He knew he had little tono chance and he was even proud of being able to run away.

LOL So now we have to attack at certain times??? Is there a list of jedi 'approved' times?

Please show me a link....

Additionally in the first part of his post where he blew up the pack he did not say he knw he could not win....

Please post other times when jedis a not 'approved' for engagement?

I think you are griefing the BH...
