Thread: 35k health mob...the saga continues :)

okay...i've taken some advice from my fellow bounty hunters on how to take out these 35k health mobs.

i'm a mbh/m-pistoleer, and was having a really hard time with these guys. since i've implemented a few changes in my template and my fighting style, i've had some success against these mobs. however, i still haven't perfected it.

before i started asking for advice, in addition to my combat skills (above) i also had the hunting line in scout, together with artisan 003/2 for the surveying and vendors. i was advised to pick up some medic skills. i'd like to keep the hunting line in scout. so, i'm going to shoot for medic 0430 which give me +20 medical efficiency, a bactashot, a bactatoss, and a bactaspray. currently though, i'm at medic 0010...i need to do a little work with it.

i've also implemented two different macros that i never used before. one was the duelist stance loop - which i find helps primarily because i'd always forget to hit it on my own when in ran out during combat. the second macro i use is the 30 second knockdown reminder after i use /underhandshot.

i also droped my +4 pistol speed belt and picked up a crate of 2000+ energy PSGs.

i threw eyeshot back up on my toolbar as well, and have been starting off with a knockdown, critshot, torsoshot, itimidate, eyeshot, stun/dizzy attack.

finally, i bought a combat droid to deal out a little extra damage and/or to temporarily pick up the agro if i need to root and bolt.

since the changes, i've only gotten 2 35k health boss mobs. i killed the first one. i think he was using energy damage, and the PSG reall y helped out a lot. the combat droid got blown up in like 3 hits - so, i dont' know how effective those things really are. i did find that even with novice medic 0010, the extra heals (on top of the stimDs) were helpful - i used +healing efficiency foods to help out there.

the 2nd fight didn't go nearly as well. it killed me 3 times! i think it may have been using kinetic damage because my7k energy/5k armor + PSGseemed to do nothing and i got shredded. also, i forgot to eat the healing effiency foods - which seemed to contribute to my demise as well. i got the thing to 1/3 health on the final attempt - but i just couldn't heal good enough or fast enough to keep up with the damage i was taking.

so, i'm 50% since the template changes - and i've found that the extra healing (as little as it may be right now) does seem to help.

if anyone has any other suggestions - i'd be happy to hear em.

thanks.

Combat droids are not a standard item two level 2 armour sections and a combat module add up to a lvl 30 combat droid as does two level 6 armour sections and 5 combat modules. best to get them custom crafted and expect to pay a premium for top quality droids. Also worthwhile is taking alon a fed droid repair D's to heal them as you go along.

Also worth looking for is a +25 healing efficiency Bio Engineered clothing set. Should be doable cheap enough.

You say +healing efficiency foods would that include ruby bliel to double your stim rate?

This is just a general suggestion on skill point use. Drop Artisan 0002 and spend the 5 points on something more useful, buy Chefs survey enhancing food (chanad pretty sure this is spelled wrong but it is close).

i did drop artisan completely to pick up the medical skills.

i do use foods - typically i eat synthsteak, blob candies, vercuipti, and i keep my stomach empty for rubyBs. i was currently using a +15 ranged/melee defense shirt - think i should trade it in for +medical effiency? i'll try it out.

my droid is top notch - no need to worry about that one. it's made by probably one of the best droid engineers in any galaxy - Straker. don't believe me? ask anyone on the DE forums

i never thought about healing my droid during battle.

any other suggestions?

What i tend to do. is equip a good advanced laser rifle, then from 65m hit the mark with a root followed by a bleed then critical hits till the root wears off, then trade shots until i can root again, using bacta shot as necessary, if half get below 50% i hit a stim-D.

Use blocking terrain as well to regain action and bacta shot yourself back to full health. My template is similar to what you are at now MP/MBH/carbs0400/medic0010 and i take these guys out withvery little trouble just wish they'd drop some nice loot for me.

If you've dropped artisan and intend to go up the ranged healing line of medic, it might be worth going the CM4000 route: each of the cm boxes give you +10 healing efficiency except for the third and fourth boxes which give you +15 plus each of the boxes give increases to melee or ranged defence. Might be a better use of Skill Points than putting them into medic.

Another thing worth looking at is getting some Healing Efficiency mods, they make a big difference. You don't have to give up your melee/ranged defence BE shirt, the BE Healing Efficiency tissues fit into anything that takes a Reinforced Fibre Panel so you could get a BE enhanced bandolier to get another +18 (or whatever is the norm on your server) thenadd a +7 HE AA or CA to make up the +25 from mods. Only issue is you can't wear a pack (bandolier takes its place) but I haven't found that to be a problem so far.

One other thought. I guess you're wearing recon armour atm, might be worth considering switching to a decent set of assault for the better kinetic protection and use your psg to bump up the energy resists. I'm no expert on armour crafting but I think assault uses the old "layer method" which means a decent 'smith should be able to craft you some kinetic armour with good all round resists: I have a BH armour suit that's only about 500 less protection on all damage typesthan my "uber" set of battle armour!! Find a decent armoursmith and have a chat about your needs and he should be able to sort you out with better all reound protection.

Best of luck!

The droid thing was just a suggestion, some droids are better than others if you have a good one that is great. ( I have a DE character that turns out 20k combat droids for newbs all lvl 30 absolutely perfect for a low level character and worryingly hard to tell the difference between that and a 350k super droid )

Your shirt according to tailors at the moment is doing you no good at all the only combatant BE clothes actually working allegedly are Terrain negotiationand Healing Efficiency. The mods for everything else show but dont seem to be working.

alrighty...looks like i'll be giving up my hunting line in scout for the skill points to pump into combat medic (like 99% of the other bher's out there).

my current bandoleer is +17 pistol speed/+15 tracking speed...i need to find a different piece of equipment to wear the +medical eff BE'd clothing.

i guess my next question is - what's the best way to get medical experience?

You probably got beat by the 2nd one due to him using a Kinetic weapon. I find they like to use FWG5's. That is the only time I have problems, and is the reason I carry some Composite Armor with me. Switch armor if he uses kinetic and it will change everything. I don't even use food anymore, just a doc buff. Well I do use Ruby since I have no healing skills, but I don't need them...

i'll talk to my favorite armorsmith about getting some 5k energy/7k composite armor and, then, with a PSG, i'll have 7k/7k protection...something i never considered.

i think the 2nd guy was using a kineticFWG5 (like me) because it was a pistol.

it's for guys like that i wish i had a good rifle.

once again, thanks for the tips!

The ones that are less than about level 78 are very easy to kill usually.. They have the same HAM average, they hit you for less damage and you hit them for more damage. They also drop the exact same loot as far as I can tell. In fact the 3 or 4 CAs I have got all came from marks under level 75..
