Thread: Quitting
I quit too. I don't like a large number of the changes which have been made, and I see the coming imperial crackdown amplifying all the things I already don't like about the game. I know that many people like the changes that are coming, but they will make my already painfull gaming experience worse. So I am moving to DAoC. I have no real desire to play WoW. I guess I'm turned off by the arogance of blizzard fanboi types chanting that it is the best game ever when it is not even a beta yet. Also I played Warcraft III and I thought it was a poor progression from warcraft II.
I'm almost there...
Started FFXI this weekend and it's a hoot. Regardless of some things, I can't over how fast, beautiful and robust it is -- here's a company that clearly isn't letting bugs go public. And I LOVE the way there's 1) no lag in combat, and 2) no combat spamming.
Of course, it must be because there's no PvP
It really makes a difference in a game where's no one is trying to out-uber each other for ganking.
Note_to_SOE: less than 20% of your user base play PvP (I believe TH said 15% this week)?

If you think this is normal for a game to continue to radically change, it's not, or it shouldn't be. Case in point is WoW. Over 7 months now and it's still the same basic game and interface. Very easy to jump right back into it after a quarter of a year gone. Contrast that with SWG, where if you left for 3 months you'd be relearning your chosen template or switching, and investing in new equipment.
You do have a point but:
1. I think SWG is much more complex of an undertaking. There are 40+ professions and endless combos thereof. I cant even begin to think how one balances all those things out
2. The only major change that really altered the game has been the CU. Everything else is just tweaks. You dont have to be a riflemen or even a CM to beat Jedi! You could do something like MBH/MC and pick up medic 0-2-0-0 and Pistols 0-0-0-3. You get a root and w/ BE clothes and a med droid you can also enjoy some real good heals!
Like I said, you've got some good points but to enjoy the game you dont have to have a template that takes full advantage of the current system! It is very possible to just "tweak" what you got and still stay "in-the-game" so to speak.
Just my two cents

Every two patches it seems like you're playing a different game.
