Thread: When did it happen?
It's a common pattern in MMORPGs. A class is or is percieved as overpowered. All the FotMs flock to that class. Everyone else complain about the class. The class gets nerfed, usually too much and is now one of the weaker classes.
It is really simple. Sure we have great attacks, but if we can't hit what we shoot at it it makes no difference.
Here is what I think should happen, MBH should have a modifier only used once. It basically says if the MBH gets the first shot off, the targets defenses are 1/2'd. This of course would make little difference in combat stemming from doing things like raids where there are multiple combatants. During the first sequence though, the first shots per say, the MBH who fires first should be considered lethal.
In every portrayal of a BH of master status, they are lethal killers. Why should this be any different. Currently it makes no difference if you did all the planning in the world to ambush another player. The MBH shoots, the victim dodges, evades counter attacks or what ever, fires back and allot of times wins. It should be if the MBH ambushes the victim, they should be easy to hit, they are not expecting the first hit, or weren't yet ready. Hell Jedi will block shots if their saber is turned off automatically...lol.
We are supposed to be the kings of taking people out, its our job. A MBH should get a modifier that gives that edge, and only, during the first shot of the conflict. But it will never happen, so whats the use of even asking.
They pulled a switch on us, we were "The most important thing on their table" for 2 years, and sometime recently, we became not important enough to do anything more than a simple change to the slicing code. Let's not kid ourselves. Whether this new slicing system is better or not, 5 guys on Atari boxes could've come up with these changes in a week.
We've heard some grim rumors about the Smuggling system, and even the most recent IC smuggling system thread was lousy compared to the older ideas.
My best guess is the CU is when it happened. We were pretty distracted by the fact we could actually kill things... those of us who respec'd to MBH/Msmug were ESPECIALLY distracted...
The other guess is that we never were the most important thing on the table, and they've simply tired of coming up with new ways to try and convince us that we were.
Please note, this is not a SOE doesn't care post. This is all pretty tangible evidence.
I probably wouldn't have even posted this, but I just realized Space Trader 1.2 for my Palm is more a more enjoyable Smuggler Scifi experience than SWG. Hell, I think that's an open distribution, maybe they could just incorporate that into the SWG code as our smuggling system

When did the Devs say, "HEY! Look over there!" and we looked?
