Gaining Pistol XP. I have a problem, i know what to kill the problem is how. I trying to take on a MOB but it kills me. I try hunting tortu but they always kill me. I know there is a tactic using warning shot but it either doesnt work of the animal turns around then turns back and kills me. How would you take down NPCs like Nym. How do you kill the big game, what are your tactics. If you want o keep your ways a secret i understand but all i want is a little bit of help. Oh, by the way i am only a novice pistoleer. Any advice would be great!

distance is the key, when the mob charges after u reapply warning shot, until he turns one he turns chase it and shot it, then when he turns towards u run away reapplying warning shot, rinse repeat. easiest way to kill a creature.

you kinda have to struggle till you can get Intermediate Pistol Special Abilities (a.k.a. pistolwhip), then you can beat the hell out of anything cept the noble jedis

i LOVED warning shot vs torturs.

Suppression fire might work well too (but I skipped that to get pistolwhip sooner)

thanks for the replys i guess i just have to keep using warning shot but i always run out of action pool. what can i do? I also heard this tactic of using maskscent and treaten shot, does anyone even use threaten shot? when ever i use warning shot against a tortur it either doesnt work or the tortur turns around then just turns back and kills me do i have to hit peace so it stops attacking?

how do u kill a monster who has like 5k-10k health, even if u hav pistol whip. Pistol whip costs like 80-200 ham (depending on which gun u hav) and if u do like 6-7 whips u run out of action ham which isn't enough to do like 10k dmg. So how do u kill em?

warning shot doesn't work because after you applly it you have to /peace . Right when you start attacking it again, it'll come at you. I replaced my Warning Shot icon with a /warningshot; /peace macro and it works wonders.. just wait till their far away and then start attaacking them till they get closer then repeat it... or just do pistol whip and run away farther while shooting them... but KD is more expensive now unless you get a cdef pistol and macro it to reapply it..

one person shouldnt be able to kill stuff like that to begin with.

If im not using a creature, which is more often now with the goofy regen rate. I usually make sure I am at about 60m, then fire a macro that does healthshot2, then healthshot1, then I'll do doubletap a few times, or on larger creatures I normally use Bodyshot2 because big stuff is hard to kill with doubletap. When the creature gets too close I typically use pistolwhip to get away then fire a warning shot as soon as it stands back up. Then I can continue my body shot assualt. Sure I take damage, and spend a lot of action, but I don't wear armor and I beefed up my secondaries through migration so I regen pretty fast.

Not to get off track, but it always bugs me when someone says "one person should not be able to kill that stuff by themselves." Why not? Even in a group, if someone gets pulled into a battle by the denizens of the lair they have to be able to at least hold out till the rest of their team recognize the situation and get their to help. Its not all about zerging.

The best way to learn tactics and not zerging is by yourself so that you can actually help a group instead of standing on the sidelines.

Anyway, everything in the game that can be killed will most likely be able to be killed by a skilled tactician at some point. There is nothing wrong with that either in my opinion. I'll take tactics and someone who has taken the time to learn them over someone who believes in point and shoot everytime.

The above comments were made in reference to my ingame experience and only in my ingame experience. Others may have had a different experience.

While hunting on lok the other day I had a very successful run against a hard target (10k ham NPC w/ med armor) and I figure I'd share w/ the rest of you to see if it helps and maybe pick up some tips from your experiences as well.

(This attack progression includes me using my TKM skills so disregard at the point I switch over)

The NPC was by himself so adding was not a problem here (that would completely change this). The first thing I did was find any weakness he might have that would fit with a heavy weapon of mine. If no vulnerabilities line up then I'll just go with either the HPC or RL since they hit with heavy armor peircing. Once this is decided my initial shot is a healthshot1 from my launcher pistol to get a bleed dot on them. GENERALLY this does not cause them to aggro you since you haven't actually caused any damage yet. This gives you time to get in position for the heavy weapon shot (RL and HPC are the easiest since the ranges are further out). After the hw shot, hopefully a hit (might mix in an /aim just to be safe), switch to your flame thrower and start closing the gap to your target(unless heat is ineffective then launcher pistol, etc..). Once within range, take off a flamesingle2 shot. With medium armor, the flame shot itself won't be doing much damage but the dot does the DOT does the work for you so pile on a second with flamecone2 (1 if not master yet). This gives you 3 dots working on just his health bar so he should be at least under 50% at this point. This is also when I throw on my VK's and rush the target. For you TKM's out there KD2 would be they way to go with little else needed at this point to finish him off. This whole progression (depending how many flame specials used) lasts about 20-30 seconds tops.

For multiple subjects, the initial DOT attack w/ LP will cause adds so you need to quickly switch to the other target(s) and put a bleed on them as well. More often than not in these cases one or more will rush you for melee range and of course flaming them is the way to go. IF POSSIBLE I always try to position myself so that all attackers are in front of me (even if they're still running at me) so that I can cone2 them to get another DOT on them while I work them over 1 by 1. When making sure my targets are clumped I've managed to do over 20k damage in one shot and I think much more is possible depending the # of targets.

Anyway, gimme some of your attacks/ideas as well..
