Thread: Jedi just come down to their saber damage.

Basically I've figured out that a Jedi can beat me if they have a certain amount of saber damage. Yeah they can escape if they use cloak etc but they'll win if they have a certain damage or more. I fought 7 jedi tonight killed 3, 3 ran after getting a severe beating and 1 killed me. I looked at all my combat logs and this guy just did far more damage. Pretty much double everyone else used the same moves on me and tried the same tactics. Yeah my damage absorbed 55% percent of damage from all the attackers but this jedi was doing about 700 per hit which he was doing every 1 or 2 seconds. The other guys attacked roughly as fast but did about 300 to 400 damage per hit. The 3 kills were all full templates (all 3 were 225k) I think all 7 fights were with full templates.

cant compare rifles and sabers without factoring in every other skills.

I am and unless you have pre cu pearls and great tunes your out of luck.

Thats what the Modified DPS number does. Everything else is tactics. MDPS factors in your most powerful hits and your modifiers to accuracy, etc. What you're referring to is tactics.

And if anything, the rifle should be less powerful than the sabere because 1) its faster and 2) you can kite with it from 65+ meters and you can use pistoleer specials (root) with it.

I Just fought someone with teh FOTM bh template, MBH, MCM, pistols 0004, and i had to run because i could not outdamage her heals. Bottom line. she did more damage than me and could heal just as well.

I'm MLS/4444 healer and some dables in enhancer and novice defender.

the only reason i was even able to live was because i could cure myself of the hardcore flame dots and heal myself after every 2k damage critical shot she hit me with while i had to watch my improved head and body hits basically bounce off donig 424 damage vs her AB sliced high energy resist armor.

you obviously dont understand how to play, and you probably have a bad build.

and I call bullsh it on 2k critical shot btw.....it's mathematically impossible.....post screenies of your combatlog before talking this nonsense....I can easily post screenies of getting het for over 900 a hit by sabers if you want...

The problem here though is if they reinstate the premium pearls like they were pre-cu, the sabers will be over-powered. They need to give you guys the pearls again... but they need to adjust the damage of the pre-cu sabers and the damage of the new pearls to align them with post-cu weapons.


I can see Jedi hitting for 600-700 a hit in PvP... not 1k a hit unless it is their power attack.

I believe if you were to go and change every saber it would have to not only match what a sliced/PU capped Rifle could do but devs would then have to go and give Jedi armor again.


Right now I can get my Rifle with a higher min damage than my Jedi's 700 damage saber. If you think that Jedi sabers will be overpowered and need to be adjusted, I know for a fact that regular weapons will then need to be adjusted as well. One might say not all regular professions have that capped rifle/gun, well that doesn't mean it's not possible to get. Much easier to get a capped Rifle than a saber at 700+ damage.

Yeah i like how the damage of that rifle is. But if they reinstate the pre cu pearls it would be near imposible to take out a jedi. unless you have enough buffs ect. But if would be ver very hard to take out a jedi whos hittin 1k every hit. that is like what a kryat hits you for. by the way. I love your gun

Because most of them plainly are.
Sabers are far too powerful compared to regular weapons, even post-cu sabers are. The high, HIGH elemental damage combined with the high minimum damage is far more important than the maximum damage. Who cares if my weapon hits for 1300 max and has 1200 dps if, against a full fledged mdef/mls it's cut down to meager 300-400 most of the time and against high level mobs (Clvl +10), I do 50%-60% damage, at best. In contrast to that, sabers will do higher damage to high level mobs and, since elemental damage is not .7'd during PvP, will also _always_ have an edge in PvP.

I've had extensive testing sessions with quite a few players and we found no evidence which would indicate that it is not like that (as someone else stated).


Simple truth: If a full template jedi loses to you, he does not know his template well enough /for PvP, that is) _or_ has a build which is not PvP oriented at all _or_ has a saber with stats so bad that I have never seen one..

Simple truth:


1) Elemental damage does not scale with damage modifiers, all it does is give a generic +200 damage (that is resisted by armor too). This is one reason why I hate that 30% of our damage comes from Elemental.


2) My Rifle with a damage PU/speed sliced is 645-1300+ with 1.4 modified speed. My Jedi's saber is 609-709 with 210 elemental damage with 1.3 modified speed (non-MLS it's 1.4 or around there with +25 mods ).


My BH is similar to my Jedi in PvP and in PvEthe BHcan outdamage him by 10%. Did I mention that the gun still has a 65m range and the Jedi saber has a 5m range? Yes there are sabers better than mine and no doubt those can not be matched by a regular weapon but I have both a Jedi with a highpowered saber and a BH/Rifleman with ahighpowered Rifle.....there is really no difference in damage output in PvP (slight edge probably goes to the saber but it's so small you don't even notice)
