Bounty Hunter Archive
Thread: New Combat System/Class structure Confirmed! Live in 3 weeks!
First, let me start by saying that combat has become more fun and is a better change for the game. No longer will it be all about mashing specials and the best weapon. This is a new system and is not a rehash of the old or current system. With that im mind, please keep an open mind.
Now coming will be a drastic change in skills. There will be 9 classes as follows:
Smuggler, Bounty Hunter, Commando, Medic, Force Sensitive, Officer (think SL), Tradesman, Entertainer, Spy. Poli and Pilot will remain unchanged.
Most experience can no be either quest based or grinding. With skills will come abilities as well as rewards. Crafters will have 4 sub crafters. I will not get into the large scale of the changes. As there are others that are also having things to say about it.
Basic points, entertainers and crafters will no longer draw agro unless they pick a fight. There are drastic changes to the way that specials work. I will be writing up basic 0.1 guides when I get back home tonight. Those will be in more detail.
As for TC itself, please hear me before you go nuts on this.
TC will be put in stasis for a week or two to start out. These are drastic changes that need to be worked and tested from level 1. After that, TC will be brought up to test mid to high level as well as /respec. The detalis on this will be each person gets 10 respecs on which the 10th will be permanant. You cannot change your skills anymore, what you start is, is what you are. No surrendering and re-grinding.
AND ALSO THERE WILL BE NO BLUE FROGS SO DON'T EVEN THINK OF ASKING!!!!!!!!!!!
I know TC does not want another mothball. I did all I could, but the fact remains that we need low newbie testing. I did manage to get you all notice. Please use it to the fullest.
I will leave the rest of the details to other people who were here as well.

its more of me not understanding thier logic. This system isnt perfect but it works. I odnt understand why they dont get off thier a$$e$ and fix the current system instead of adding expansions to it. They had the Pre Cu decided we dont want to fix the problem so heres the CU .. oh wait we messed that up so lets not fix it .. heres this new thing ... what bugs me is thier inability to simply fix something. They fix something a few weeks ago and jabbas goes missing i mean come on. The new system might be all fine and dandy but when the bugs roll in on that are they gonna scrap it a change it again?
Ah yes, but what is going to happen to our SEAs and millions of credits invested in Armor and Weapons?
Let's face it, I've spent QUITE a lot of time and credits on my template to have "the best" available items. This will piss me off if similar changes like the CU item convesion happen.
What's with the no respecing? Does that mean that on the 10th respec you will lost the option to change templates via respec or forever? ie, no dropping skills to try something new out? The statement in the OP could be taken either way.
I'm with the majority of the response though: guarded curiosity. I will not get excited or upset until we get more information.
Though, I wonder why it was posted by a forum correspondant and not a developer.
That is what is stumping me atm. It makes this game unique and with all the nerfs all around. The need to change is evident.

i am currently ok with doing a class by class revamp like they did with SL supposed to do with ranger .. smugglers? i guess its a bit of frustration because as much as it pains me to say SOE did a fairly good job with mustafar except for the whole no slice no pup loot thing. i give it a b+ atm. But just when they do something right BAM!!! just fix whats in the game now .. the reason we play this game is because of the way it is now. It just needs some DEV's to love it a little. redo smuggler .. help out our crafters with new weapons. Make new CRAFTABLE weapons make new FACTION RANKS TO IMPROVE THE GCW. there are ways to keep the current system and improve upon it.

Thinking about this logically... if there are infact 9 classes and BH being one of them, I would expect there would be subclasses to each. For example BH master class, with specialization in perhaps rifle? Possbile dabbling may still exist within the sub classes for individual falvor?
I'm more interested in seeing how the combat classes hold up with individual healing vs damage output by the other combat classes....
Wonder if Jedi will be a starter profession now as rumored by everyone else?
