I quit SWG over 6 months ago before the CU. However my GF got hooked on it so I kept this account going so she can play it. For most of my SWG I was a BH and had about 4 diffrent BH all on different servers, however the lack of PvP and the general carebear attitude of SWG and the clear arrogance of SOE when it came to customer relations pushed me away.
In short I bought a little MMORPG called EVE, the only MMO I've experienced where I can actually be a bounty hunter that hunts player bountys. Where at the same time I can be a smuggler and actually smuggle! Best part is no templates, no XP grinding and absoloutely NO JEDI! PvP isn't a dirty word or something talked/boasted about without actually happening. You can attack anyone, anytime, anywhere (no need for accept duel BS), ofcourse there are areas for carebears to hide in but you can declare war on thier corporations ((guilds) without needing thier permission first!) and hunt them down like dogs.
Everything takes place on one server not 20 sharded ones (none of the,I'm the best BH on X sever BS). The drawbacks are that you actually can lose stuff if you lose your ship/get podded (killed). But there are no bugs and the DEVs are very helpfull and I have always recieved a reply within 1 day to any queries or problems encountered in game. Also NO BUGS, any bug I experienced was dealt with quickly and new patches are discussed then tested well in advance of going live.
In short the company that runs EVE (CCP) actually gives a monkeys backside about your subscription fees and doesn't use the crutch of Star Wars to lean on when cheating you out of money. Also all add-ons are free, no buy this or lose out on the game.
If you're leaving SWG soon (which my GF probably will be) my advice is to try EVE, in the end it even if you don't like it it can't be any worse than this poor excuse for space invaders can it?

I'm doing this. This game looks great and I have some friends of a friend who play this game. Thanks for the tip. BTW, what's ur IGN for eve-online so I can bum some help from you?

EVE is a nasty little place. Pirates at every jump gate in deep sea. Nasty nasty nasty!

Not if you're in a high-security sector. Besides, that makes it fun. If you're in a HS sector, there are Police. WOW! Imagine that! Police, in a GAME! Now why didn't SOE think of that?

And yes lots of nasty pirates in EVE but you can stay out of the kill zones thanks to an autopilot and the space police that will cover your behind as long as you don't get a bad criminal record that is

Eve is an awesome game with a very devout following of hardcore space pvpers. If you can get past the whole, your ship is your avatar, thing, you are good to go. What a fun game.

so, are you saying that there are jedi in that game that i can hunt, too?

All space combat. You don't have and avatar, you only see the ship you're piloting. You do have a character creation however where you can make a portrait and choose your race/bloodline and attributes. You learn skills by clicking on a book and selecting train skill. The skill will train while you're offline too but you can only train one skill at a time, so no grinding for skill points. your main worry will be learning how to make money, but plenty of ways to earn cash.

No, the way the system works is, Everyone has a security status (your standing with the police). Your sec status will drop if you're caught commiting criminal offences such as murder, drug/gun running or slave trading (there are many more). Once your sec status is below a certain level any player can place a bounty on your head, 2 players place a bounty of 1milllion each means your bounty goes up to 2 mil and so on.
If your sec status drops below -5 then you're considered kill on sight and the police will no longer protect you but also attack you in high security space. If you want to hunt this person for thier bounty you may get an agent in a space station to locate them for you (takes 3-8mins to get thier exact location). Then you may go find them and engage in combat, to collect the bounty you must destroy thier ship then thier pod and the bounty is yours. No need to get a mission or a contract, also anyone can attack anyone so if they have friends they might be able to help depending on the situation or you may bring help.

And...the fact that its REALLY, REALLY, deep in "Deep Space" is kind of interesting.
I have never been as far as the outer limits but that's mainly because I haven't had the time to jump gate to gate to get there lol... It really does have that deep space feeling.
