Thread: Best Carbine?

Ok, so aside from the nifty knockdown, carbines suck because the ham costs are way out of sync with the other weapons. But HAM costs aside, what is the best carbine to be using right now? Personally i've been looking for a nice fast carbine, since if you miss that first knockdown or it gets evaded, you can fire again before the mob gets to you and start getting chewed on.

What kind of carbines are people using and what kind of stats can we expect our weaponsmiths to turn out for us? Right now im using an EE3 carbine thats been sliced down to 2.5 speed with 49-120 damage. Im on Bloodfin and it was originally crafted by Enott.

OK, you said HAM costs aside or I would have told you a very good, sliced CDEF for PvE. I know the damage sucks, but at least it'll kill the mob faster than it'll kill you.

But, HAM costs aside, well... I can't personally top yours, actually. Nice weapon!

I have a 26-239 4.0 unsliced laser carbine. It seems to work great for me and the HAM costs on it aren't too bad.

The answer to this question is entirely dependent on the resources available on your server and the competency of the people making the weapons.

Your best bet is to find the master weaponsmiths on your server and ask them what the best htey can make is.

As an aside there was a post on the weaponsmiths or carbineer forum that they were looking at changing carbines to lower the ham costs significantly. Hopefully that happens sooner rather than later.

i agree with sirsri. i play on tarquinas, and there are NO good carbines available as of yet. the higher level carbines take an unbelieveable amount of the action pool, and after killing one creature and incorporating any speciall attacks, you have to sit and rest or camp until the action pool gets back up. i am currently using a CDEF carbine, with 2.1 attack speed and 30 - 68 damage. it might not be too powerful, but it is really quick.

I just tonight got myself an Elite Carbine. I had it sliced as well. Previous to that I was using a laser carbine. The laser carbine can do higher damage shots but the Elite Carbine does significanly more damage without special moves. I didn't write down the numbers but let me give an example

laser carbine 19-319

Elite carbine 107-297

The elite carbine over time is going to do a lot more damage because of the persistant dps. The laser carbine can do big hits but then you also get the 33, 62 thing happening. I'm getting to try a DXR5 tomorrow and maybe an EE3. I do believe an Elite Carbine has them all for sustainable dps tho. My action bar was always full,

attack, attack, attack, knockdown (impairing shot), attack, attack, attack, knockdown(impairing shot), attack ....

That being said there was a post for armor to get ..padded is what you want because no melee mob should ever get near you. It's only blasters that you need to worry about.

I have an elite carbine as well. Not that good but an elite carbine. On chilestra they have a HUGE range in quality. The one I have is like 91-151 speed 4.3 ish (sliced 18% dmg) HAM costs of uh... 29/48/12? can't remember mind cost (hey I'm a zabrak my mind pool goes up 2x as fast as the others so I don't care). I saw some that were like 60-120 ish with ham like 78/100/70 or something. Really really crappy.

And then people wonder why I don't wear armour...

It really depends on your servers materials and how good the people making the weapon are. The other thing to consider. I had a really good E-11 carbine. But it had a speed of like 3 on it. It wore out fast, not really really fast, but fast. Much less than 3 speed unless it's a CDEF could be a pain to replace in a pinch.

Weapons choice is all about finding an odd damage type or a high armor rating. The higher your armor rating, the better your modifier against armored opponents. If you ahve an armor mod of 0 and your opponent has a mod of 1, then you automatically do 1/2 damage to them before their armor starts to kick in. I'm not sure if it works the other way though- rating 2 versus a 0 rating say gun versus armor.
The laser carbine has an armor rating of 2 so it will hit hardest against all armor types. The DXR6 does acid damage though and has an armor rating of 1. So those two are probably your best bets. who do you know who has a really high acid armor rating? All acid resists are base armor resist, or nothing.

Then again if your mark or pvp opponent is wearing chitin, whip out your ee3. Their effectiveness against this stuff is zilch, as it is for ubese, padded impact and bone.

Composite is a 3 layer armor, padded is 2, tantel and ubese are layer 1. Pick your guns wisely, as the various weapons in your arsenal will give you an advantage over each type. Personally I carry a laser and ee3 now at all times, although I havent run any BH missions, I've used them to advantage (supposed) in a few duels.

I am going to be a master cabineer and I was wondering would I be better to use a ee3 carbine with less HAM and get its dmg sliced or get a elite carbine and get it sliced in either speed or dmg? whats your thoughts?

What is the best carbine in the game to use for the bounty hunter carbine skill tree.

I use a dxr6 carbine myself. I like the fairly high min dmg and the acid base is nice for marks. Though I tend to carry a few of the other dmg types in a backpack just in case i need them.
