Thread: What makes a good Bounty Hunter?

Great posts above.

My play style is too stalk the mark and hit them when the situation is completely in my favor. I will, normally, take days to identify the marks habits, his houses, where he grinds, where he trains etc... Then when I've identified his most vulnerable behavior, I get to that location first and wait to strike. I get the usually mix of tells afterwards from "Great tactics" to "noob" Although, to be honest, most tells are positive. Maybe it's because...

If I can't find a mark above 100k that's not on Kash or not online, I will take a low-level Paddy. And, even though it's not necessary (low level Paddy's is like hunting fish in a barrel - poor guys) I follow the same tactics - the only differnce is that once I get the first incap I stop fighting and send them a tell letting them know that we're done. This keeps my skills sharp and their game enjoyable. I haven't had one continue fighting on me yet after the incap, although if they did I probably would DB them because it would be rude. (No Flames needed. I realize that BHs should kill all Jedi, regardless of level. Not killing low-level Paddy's is simply my choice)

I don't hunt same faction. (No Flames needed. I realize that BH's should hunt all Jedi - I don't want to damage my side in the GCW)

If a Jedi gets away from me after I engage him, I drop the mission and send him a tell saying 'great job'. (No Flames needed. BH's should persevere and 'get their man..uhh...being' - my play style relies heavily on the element of surprise and once they know who I am, I lose my advantage)

Anyways, as you can see from my post count, I don't post much. I just really liked what you said and thought I should add to it.

Polite???? There is nothing polite about being killed/caught by a bounty hunter in real or a game..

This is a game, and funnily enough it is possible to be polite you your mark. Remember - game, you are playing with other people so why not play nice?

what do you guys think makes a good bounty hunter? We as a prof are spose to be assasins, killers if you will.

Yet everytime i go after my jedi mark who is Grinding and low on force, or is pvping in theed and already being hit and has his health half down and i kill them, guess what?

I get tells on how i suck as a BH and they didnt have full force or wasnt prepared!

well ummmm, last time i checked we where spose to kill them not gather a crowd and fight them in a pit fight to the death .

Seriously would a sniper in wartime come out of hiding and say hey im going to attempt to snipe you get ready!

BUt yet it amases me that everytime i do my job right and be sneaky and crafter and kill my mark the way a BH should i get tells on how i suck .

and i have tested it i have told a jedi before attacking to prepare i had his misson, he did the duel thing and found it to be true so he popped foods ect ect and then i asked if he was ready.

He said yes so we found and naturely i was killed.

Guess what i got a tell saying, how i was such a good BH and all this kiss arse BS.

SO LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT

JEDI THINK .........

IF THEY ARE ASSASINED BECUASE OF THERE LACK OF FOCUS AND BECAUSE THE BH WAS ABLE TO STAY HIDDEN AND STRIKE AT THE RIGHT TIME WHEN HE KILLS HIS MARK HE THEN IS A NOOB.

BUT IF HE CHALLENGES HIS MARK LETS THE MARK KNOW HES GOT HIS MISSON AND THEN FIGHTS AND LOSES HES A GREAT BH.

LOL SIMPLEY RETARDED!

You hunted well. Last time a BH attacked me at just the right time while I was almost inundated, I congratulated him on a hunt well-executed. It's not his fault I wasn't watching my own back. He was patient, calculating, and got the win.

For non ebayed Jedi, one has to basically be inHigh School or younger to have as much time to grind the profession. So the Age bracket of most jedi will be in the 11 to 16 year old category.

So when you get flamed, called a noob etc. That means you have done your job well and have obviously pissed them off.

Take a screen shot of your best hate filled tells and go back and read them for laughs later.

Remember, Don't takehate spampersonally, picture that jedi knight who flamed you as a 130 pound 11 year old, snot nosed fat kid with Ice cream stains on his cheeks....

In real or in game?

In real, BH's are engaged to find people who have been accused of a crime got bailed, skipped on the bail bond, and did not go to court and answer for it, lending one to be pre-disposed to the mark being guilty.

In game, BHs are assigned to kill Jedi because the Emporer has offered sizable rewards. Jedi know this prior to choosing that path, and are making the proactive move of accepting the long and dangerous Jedi grind. BHs are reacting to the coice first made by the Jedi. BHs cannot hunt anyone who has not willfully chosed to be hunted first (there is no such thing as 'involuntary PVP')

In real, Bounty Hunters should be polite because we live in polite society - the mark, having already been accused of a crime, normally has no such compunction. However, that doesn't matter: THIS IS A GAME, and both Jedi and BHs should be polite because the game rules require it.

I'm sure that your post was intended to add some sort of value, I hope that my response helps you.

Indeed. We need them to hunt, if we just piss people off and act like jerks. Next time you come after a jedi he may just run away rather than have a fun fight with the BH. (talking about knights here).

I hate to say it, but this can be taken as largely true. I'm 31, with a wife and a rugrat, but it's taken quite some time to finally make jedi.

And if you hunt me, and you win, all you'll get from me is a congratulations. Fortunately, each time I"ve been killed, the BH had some class and didn't immediately exclaim, "I PWND J00, NUB!!!1111!!!one11fifteen!!"

Of course, I probably would have replied something to the effect of, "Hehe, you sure did, squirt. *pats head*"

I'll tell you what makes a good bh in todays game.

A bh who takes the time to study his/her mark, find out info on them from any source, even bribe people to tell you what skills they know they have.

the more you know about what they can and cant do, the better chance you have of getting your big fat wage packet

A good BH is one who knows how to use his template. Hada BH/Doc/Heavyswordsman come after me and pound me into FUBAR the other day. he did it twice to my dismay but the klrayt killed me first I have the typical Mdefender LS enhancer healer template so I was sopposedly not an easy kill. thats what i thought until he laid the armor break and got to work buffed to hell. I had no idea what I was dealing with and thats what cost me 450k exp. Learn your template asa BH, discover its weaknesses, and its strangths, then apply that strangth in battle while avoidng the pot holes that expose your weaknesses.

I died becauseI was facing a superier meleer, with minimal ranged abilities. Should have been exploiting that from the start with my roots, snares, and saber throw. He knew his template well and killed my prepared arse easliy. The only beef I had with this guy was him not giving me a rematch and being kind of an a$$ in his tells. But he did his job so the tells are a moot point. dont care what the jedi says, just kill um and be done with it. These are the qualities that make a good BH.

that's a matter of opinion, good could be nice or merciful or ruthless or able to kill tons of low level marks or able to kill tons of high level marks.
