Thread: Quesiton: Is this an exploit?

Background: My guild is a bounty hunters guild. That's all we are, that's all we do.

One of my guildmates has a mission on Dant. I have a mission out there too. Our marks seem pretty close to one another. He gets to his first and engages. Mine hops a shuttle. So I go over to where he is and he is fighting a jedi and doing pretty well. The jedi keeps trying to run away. I assume that he has cloak and wants to use it to escape the fight. I /follow the jedi so he can't cloak.

Is following a jedi so that they can not use cloak, when you do not have their mission, considered an exploit?

I believe that its just good tactics, but let me know what you think.

No flames please. Just reasoned opinions.

Thanks.

I would like to hear this one. Is it that easy. I would say no. But im sure going to try it. Now the question is does it work on all servers? and can the guy fighting the Jedi /follow him also in the way you were?

I can stay on my bike and follow the jedi without peril (unless he runs through some high end mobs). Unlike my guildmate that is snared or rooted or KDed or whatever. Follow works on all server with all kinds of things from players, to mobs to NPCs.

It's not an exploit, but not many BH have Force Run. Even if you follow a Jedi on a swoop, as long as he gets away from the BH with his mission there's booga all you can do. So he cant cloak? If he's smart, he'll run when the BH is KD'd / Snared or rooted, pull out his bike and bail. Even with you following him, he wont care too much since he'll soon be in his house with his butt hanging out the window asking you to kiss it

You know I asked for reasoned responses, not this kind of trash. You could have said, its not an exploit and left it at that. I know all the rest of what you stated, do you really think you are telling me something special? Grow up.

I know the follow thing works with all mobs etc. But what i want to know is, if I ride up on a known cloaker in a group or something and have not attacked him yetand i do a /follow him will it prevent him from cloaking? Because the cloakers ive seen done it right in front of me right before i get my attack off and after that its like a big sale pitch to get them to uncloak.Sorry i should of explained a little more in detail of the info i was looking for.

Its my understanding that cloak requires something like 20 or 30 meters of seperation from another player for a jedi to initiate it. The /follow command keeps you within a few meters I believe.

no the jedi can still cloak...Also the follow is a bug right now....To Actually be able to follow some you are supposed to be grouped with them as far other players go...So in a way yes it is a exploit/bug no biggie tho lol

p.s. I dont have cloak (anymore)

That's kind of surprising because melee types (pre and post CU) have used follow extensively. I know many jedi that use /follow and /fr to stay close to the targets that they are fighting without having to use the mouse or keys.

Do you have any red comments about how follow is supposed to work that I can reference?

I saw it somewhere cant remeber where tho...either way no biggie...this is nothing but bug/exploits...all we can do is work with what we have and try to play fair....

p.s. that was a good idea following me tho..good tactics....made me lag real bad

It is an exploit as it is a practice that was not intended by the devolpers when the changes to cloak were made. This was listed in dev notes a few weeks back. Of course most other BH's will disagree, but the practice of BH vs Jedi was changed to be 1 vs 1 and not with being aided by outside sources... like what you did.
