I've got a few sps to burn (perhaps 11) that I'm thinking of putting into CH.

My question is this: Is there anytning I could get that would make the dabble worth it, versus a straight CL10?

Specifically, I'm looking for a tanking pet that would draw fire so I can break out the powerhammer. It won't have to last long, but it mightget beat on by some nasties. I'd like kinetic resists, and dont' care a whit about damage the pet can do. In fact, it's my hope that damage is such a factor in CL that having practically none will let me have more ham or resists.

Is this a feasilbe hope? Would those 11 points be better spent elsewhere?

What's a good non-CH pet or droid to use as a tank? I need something to hold aggro while I use flushing shot 2 on the lair. Thanks.

A BE made pet with high Heath and Action and as high Kinetic Resistance as possible.

or droid to use as a tank?

An LE Repair droid with one slot for a combat module and the remaining for auto repair. The LE has the highest HAM of the Droid Line. -or-

An Advanced R3 with again 1 slot for combat and the remaining 5 for auto repair modules. Plus a lot of batteries.

Do you need to have droid training to use a droid? Or for a pet?

It seems a Pet might be a better option once they mature.

Personally I'd suggest going for a droid. The LE repair got me through most of the grind using it to attack piket plains walker lairs so I could spam flushing shot 2. I tried an advanced R3 but I found the extra HAM on the LE was more useful (6k and 4.5k max theoretical HAMS respectively). While the auto-repair feature is a bonus you really need a crate of good droid repair kits which anyone can use. So look out for some good D's. The ones I had were about 1500 repair and were only average kits as I've read better can be made, but I lacked some of the resources for the advanced components. I'd use a few of these after each wave of mobs to bring the bot back to full health.

As far as pets, you could go for a non CH pet (I haven't checked whats legitimately available now from BE's) but the last time I looked they didn't have as much HAM. I have seen some pets that have 10k HAM non CH, but I'm not sure if these are 'legal', and the price they were for sale made me think again. They were up at between 350-500k (on Tarquinas) and you can pick up a LE droid for a fraction of that cost.

if you can get a couple friends to pull their droids and friend them to you (does that work yet?) or make them follow your droid (and pray they don't get stuck on rocks or zone lines), all the droids with repair modules will heal each other and last a lot longer.

droids have much better resists than the current non-CH pets which are limited to something like 4k HAM with no armor and 30% resist to important things; droids have about the same HAM but light armor andbetter resists. you will need lots of good droid stim things unless you like sitting around forfive minutes after each fight while it slowly self-heals.

i used a rock beetle and petstims on pikets before they broke all the non-CH pets. igot sniping 4 and abilities 3 from that, so i was able to finish the rest in a couple days of prone headshotting quenkers at 64m which i think was actually faster than pikets cos it seemed like i spent half the time running back and forth to heal the stupidbeetle, or chasing after it spamming /tellpet follow when it randomly decided to run away, or running in circles spamming /tellpet attack when something switched aggro to me.

i died a lot lessto quenkers because i didn't have to rely on a buggy AI that would run away, ignore commands, and not hold aggro. i did it all unarmored with only mind buffs so i died pretty fast to all those pikets when the pet screwed up or i couldn't heal it fast enough or when my petstim got bugged and stopped working and i couldn't uncrate a new one because i was stuck in combat mode.

Droids no longer have armor, they are at ar0. They also got hit retroactively. They turn out displaying 40% resistswith the highest droid armor module installed.

what, did they nerf them again? i could have sworn they had AR1 after one of those droid patches.

It was one of those patches that reduced them from medium armor to zero. Basically we got the extra HAM at the expense of the armor. Last time I checked my droids (yesterday) they had no armor just resists.

How much exp % wise would a droid or a pet take from you?

Whats the highest level droid or pet one can get if they do not have the skills for either of those professions?

Does a droid or pet take same amount of exp from you?

I have no idea on the pets but I'll tackle the droids. There aren't really levels as such for droids (although they show a CL of 19) and anyone can use droids.

You've basically got 3 types of worthwhile combat droid, the LE repair, Advanced R3 and Advanced Probots. With the LE coming in at the highest ham lowest damage, probot highest damage lowest HAM and R3 in the middle. They can be configured with only one combat module (or none for the probot as it has an inate ability to shoot for 1 damage) to do very little damage. I can't remember how much damage exactly with only one module but its small enough not to worry about for xp loss (maybe like 40 damage or thereabouts).
