How much exp % wise would a droid or a pet take from you?

Whats the highest level droid or pet one can get if they do not have the skills for either of those professions?

Does a droid or pet take same amount of exp from you?

I don't do it, so I don't know too much about it, but some people recommend grouping with a pet or droid because it provides an XP bonus(around 10%?). Sure, it will take XP for the damage it does, but I think if this bonus works as I am led to believe, it will certainly more than make up forany loss.

So, would calling a pet/droid be different than grouping with same pet/ droid?

Most of the time it's just 'group' or 'g'. It depends on what command it was taught to recognize though. It can be almost anything. It should have a list of its known commands(it has to be taught to group by a CH before anything else) in you datapad or when you examine it. I'm not too big on pets(that I actually use in combat ), but the command list is somewhere....

Get a droid. They are much easier to deal with. You can program the commands for them. When they are called click on them and look at the radial. You should see one that says 'Program'. When you click on it a drop down menu appears of commands. You click on the command you want to program it and you will see a '?' over the droid. Then type in whatever you want for that command to be. For example if you want the group command to be join you would type join in your text box. Once the droid is programmed for that command you will see a '!' over the droid. That means it has learned that command.

Generally I teach my droids the follow commands : store, group, follow, stay, and attack. If you look at the droid in the datapad it will show what the commands are and the words for them. Just remember that the commands are case sensative.

Make sure you are grouped with the droid/pet when you go into combat. The XP bonus is in the 15-20% range. Also the reason people suggest the LE droid is not only because it has the most HAM, but it also does the least damage. So it doesn't take as much XP from you.

Also if you harvest from creatures. If you have a pet out you will only get the 60% as if you were grouped. Even if the droid/pet isn't grouped. So make sure you group with it so you will at least get the XP bonus.

Don't forget to get a case or two of batteries. Droids go thru them quickly. Especially those the self repair units. You can also get some droid repair kits (basically droid stim packs) if you want.

Anyone can use a driod. I've recently been useing an Advance R3 with 5 repair & 1 combat and it does work relatively well. It's HAM is about 4100 and if i read things right its got 40% on resists or something. I've been useing the little guy in Yavin recently killing Klicknicks and stuff and it holds up pretty well. On the downside even with the 5 repair mods and a repair rating of about 100 (honestly driod stats confuse me) it heals pretty darn slowly. From what i figure it heals 100 every 10 sec. (could be wrong, it might work another way) but anyway trying to heal 4k stats at that rate is slow. Well for me anyway since I'm also a combat medic who just dropped Creature Handler to clear up points for rilfeman/combat medic. Another issue I have with the R3 is that even if I toggle off the range attack it still uses it and sometimes I find the little trash can running away from the critter to get in optimal range to use its range attack. The LE Repair driod may be better since it only has melee attacks but with only 1 repair mod I can only imagine what its repair rate is. You could always get repair kits but I never used one before so I can't commenton that.

I have no idea how good BE pets can be if you don't have any CH skills. Can they even be used in attacks if you don't have Novice Creature Handler?

Waste good post here but i quoted you to point out 1 mistake in it.

the devs removed the penalty for having pets in your group dropping the harvest rate to 60 percent. if you are alone and only have pets in your group, you will continue to harvest at 100 percent. only if you are grouped with other players will it then drop to 60 percent. just wanted to point that out.

I have an LE Repair Droid....it has 5800 ham, 1 combat module, 2 auto-repair modules and a level 6 armor module. It has 40% resists to everything, which is alot better than any non-ch pet you will find.

My droid also has a droid_stupid personality chip installed, and he says randomly funny things when in combat....like "ow, I don't like dents" and "you trying to get me killed"

Only drawback is I tend to go through the droid repair kits rather quickly.

Is there a way to tell what modules a droid has? I purchased a LE Repair droid, but it doesnt seem like he is repairing himself. Is this automatic or is there a command?

It should say either on deed or when you look at the droid in the datapad. I'm thinking it was on the deed though.

Also check the power level of the droid. If it is out of battery power it won't repair itself.

There is a radial command on the droid allowing you to turn on/off auto repair. If you don't see this, check the power level to make sure the droid has power. If the droid has power and you don't see this, more than likely your droid isn't equipped with an auto-repair module.

Also, when viewing your datapad, when you click on the droid, in the stats window on the left, there should be a stat for repair, or something like that.

Hope this helps.

Lots of comments on droids. The good thing is that they're relatively cheap and easy to find.

A high quality non-CH pet is far superior however. You might have trouble finding a BE who makes one, and even if you do there might be a bit of a waiting period. Depending on your server's economy and the BEs involved, you could end up paying upwards of 500k for a good pet. On the other hand, you might find them as low as 80-100k, it really all depends on the BE.

A good non-CH pet will have a health of around 10-11k, action and mind could be anywhere between 3k and 7k, depending on the quality of DNA samples and the experimentation. I'd say that when I was a BE, my average non-CH tank pet came out to around 10k/6k/5k with 60% kinetic resistance (light armor is not possible on a non-CH, that instantly bumps it up to CL20). Specials are up to the BE,but common ones I used were Strong poison/strong disease andcripple/intim, both with ranged attack. Damage isn't really important, but on average it's 120-130 with the highest being around 170-180, any higher and it's too hard to keep the other stats and keep it a non-CH. Great thing about pets is that you can get doc buffs and use regular stims on them (and of course pets can instantly heal their mind pool). The general opinion is that these will be nerfed eventually, but they seem to be pretty low priority with all the other stuff going on.
