Let the flames begin!
Okay, now rancors are supposed to be the strongest pet a CH can use right? SO why did they remove medium armor? Now, a level 34 Graul Mauler can PWN a Rancor because of his resists PLUS armor. I know they won't bring back pets with Medium armor, but I think they should make an exception for Rancors. I mean, it's a RANCOR.
Anyone else agree/disagree?
There will be an entire rebalancing of creatures soon. Maybe with the next patch, maybe later. I'd expect the pecking order to change a bit then.
Are you sure? I could've sworn that 6 weeks ago when I started, I saw someone in Moenia with a rancor with medium armor.
Regardless, I think they should have medium armor.

the "rancor" you see people using is light armour, always has been. there are MANY meaner versions of the rancor which are not tameable, and those have medium, even heavy armour. the rancor list is as follows:
rancor youth - light armour, not tamable
gnarled rancor - light armour, tamable
rancor - light armour, tamable
bull rancor - medium armour, not tamable (if only)
mutant rancor - medium armour, not tamable
enraged rancor - medium armour, not tamable
enraged bull rancor - medium armour, not tamable
ancient bull rancor - heavy armour, not tamable
these are all the rancors I know of, I'm pretty sure that's all of them. they're listed in ascending order of level. the gnarled rancor is lvl 45, rancor 50, bull 60, mutant 70, not sure about enraged or enraged bull, ancient bull is 95.
enraged rancor is at level 75, enraged bull rancor at level 85..
+nightsister clan and singing mountain clan rancors, level 50 and same stats as a normal rancor, of course not tameable
the only two pets with medium armor that players can use are
webmasters
and bark mite burrower queens
both are extinct.
i have a webmaster at least...

Rancors are supposed to be big bada$$ creatures, but in their current form they are nothing more than a novelty item for the most part.
Well... if Rancors aren't supposed to be Bad... Then every Ch needs to stop at 2,3,1,1 then they can use a Graul mauler... No point in mastering or going up to 4,4,X,4 to get any better pets...

yo charvaks u left out those night sister rancors and i think rancors r ok... ther not the besttameble creature in the game. Probably the best creature in the game is extinct from when the game just came out and it was all buggy.

True...for now. Potentially as soon as next months big patch, the whole CH tree is getting re-worked, as well as the pet themselves are getting stat and CL changes.
The new CH tree will probably come out before the pet changes do though. In my opinion anyways. But the days of 2-3-0-0 to get one of the best PvE tanks in the game will be long gone in the future.
2-3-0-0 and just buying a Mauler from a CH is viable now, but once the tree changes, you're gonna need many more skills to control a powerful pet.
