The above post is the reason. At least this person has the decency to call it what it is ... whoring.

This person is truly worthy of Jedi...NOT. I say good riddance, sir. Good luck with your next holo and the other 28 professions you will hopefully have to complete to unlock...

Yep...People like that should have to die. I was gonna say master all the professions a few times, but...yeah.

Anyone who would "whore himself out," in the process destroying (or at the very least, damaging) the market for other bio-engineers, lacks any kind of self-respect, decency, and intelligence. Such people are idiots, put simply

I bet his pets are wienies and his BSN are small...er, have a small bonus

That's rather frustrating and prompted me to add this to the Input for top 5 thread at the top:

I think that schematics, while an interesting concept, is not working as originally intended and now only serves as a means by which players who don't care about a crafting profession (sometimes hologrinders, sometimes pet makers who dont care about tissues) can allow others to exploit them to bypass the genuine crafters

So that's my biggie: stop schematics being tradeable

I think a lot of the current chef-BE tension would be defused if it weren't so easy to find a way to bypass the genuine crafters and I think that until the last revamp schematics didn't really serve much of a purpose anyway, or at least they allowed Armoursmiths and such to exploit Tailors and several classes to exploit master artisansin the way that a small minority of chefs look toexploit us

My guess is that the game design intention of schematics was to support a merchant/miner/manufacturer type but this is almost unheard of in practical play

More practically Nemthang, /addignore this person and /ban them from your shop. In a small petty way you'll be making their grind through Tailor, Chef or CH that extra bit harder. Personally I'd do that AND post in his thread explaining why but I'm not the nicest of people to cross

personally i'm glad when a lot of those people are gone off to other things.. I made a Second chara on a Different Server just to do anything else.. since i DIDN'T want to drop BE . BE is likely the ONLY reason i'm still playing this game. even back when BE's just 'weren't' kewl. so in my Holo grind on the other Chara .. I'd choose to do BE, hell I'd be happy as anything to have pulled it for a Holocron.

but sadly, many do not feel this way, and even more care about as much for thier profession they are in atm as nothing more than a drudgery that they can't wait to get through. Hologrinding has really messed a lot of things up in this game, and hopefully one day soon, it'll all settle down and people will go back to playing the game to actually enjoy doing something. not just 'grinding' thier way through just to get jedi, when they will likely be so burned out, that upon achieving it, play it a little then leave the game.

My prices are very resonable. Heres the catch, I'm not much of a harvesting nut so you will need to bring the materials for whatever you want made with you. If you want specific DNA samples for BE'd animals I will try and provide those for a price."

I guess you are going to have to ostrasize me and call me names too. I don't see the problem. Please explain how he is letting himself be exploited or how he is damaging the profession by selling his schematics or DNA?

I both enjoy and only have time to make pets. I can't stand resourcing. So, when chefs and tailors come to me asking for addatives and tissues, I tell them I don't make them, but would be happy to sell them the schematic they need at the going rate per crate minus the resource and 10% for their time and equipment. I would also be thrilled to buy (I have in the past) DNA from other BE's so I don't have to go out and collect it myself.

I guess I am ruining the game too.

Re-read my post. I never called for anyone's head over this. I merely made the observation that since I have been a frequent visitor/contributor to the BE forums, I've seen a lot of people come in, not read the FAQ at all, and proceed to post questions about grinding, post asking people to give them uber recipes for pets before they dump the profession, etc. I've seen how these people typically get treated by the Master BE's here. Usually it's a 1-star and a flame.

I don't know the posterpersonally. But, this person reinforcesmy personal position that if you're not willing to invest in learning how the profession works and put forth some effort, then I'm not going to go out of my way to help you beyond the basics.

Ask yourself how you would feel if this person had given you a tell asking for help and you gave them some tips, showed them some rare spawns or other tricks, and maybe even gave them a great pet recipe to help them start their business. Then, 1 day after they make master you see a post like this selling the fruit of that advice and guidance and hampering your ability to make a living.

Regarding your playstyle, I don'tbegrudge anyone their right to play their character and the BE profession as they see fit. I stand by my position that if you are giving schematics away for free/cheap to people who aren't your friends or guildies, you are allowing people to use you. It may not bother you, you may not care about that aspect of the game, but they are using you nonetheless - it's exactly the same asselling cheapFWG5 or composite armor schematics. And it's your right to allow yourself to be used.

If someone wants to hologrind up BE in a week and then earn as much money as they can in a few days by whoring their skills out and limiting the ability of legitimate Bio Engineers that are here to play the profession to make a living, it's their right to do so. Just like it's my right to not help them do it and wish them a speedy departure to their next holo profession.

I'd be happy to explain my position The relevant portion of my post was...

"Anyone who would "whore himself out," in the process destroying (or at the very least, damaging) the market for other bio-engineers, lacks any kind of self-respect, decency, and intelligence. Such people are idiots, put simply "

Consider, for a moment, what you would do if you were a bio-engineer attempting to sell food additives and tissues, as opposed to only pets. Would you not find it at least slightly annoying to find another BE selling the schematic for an item you worked so hard to produce yourself? That BE that's selling the schematic...he's essentially selling out every single other bio-engineer who's put forth the effort to master the profession, as producing a schematic removes part of the demand from the market. The big problem is, instead of pulling a small part of the market away, the chef or tailor or whoever bought the aforementioned schematic now has the ability to produce 1000 units at leisure. He's not gonna be buying from any other bio-engineer for a loooooong time, most likely, and that hurts the BEs who are working the tissues/food additives market. Aside from that, the chef/tailor/whatever now essentially has gotten all the benefits of a 63-skill-point-expenditure for the price of maybe 150K. Even being super-generous and saying you charged 500K to make the schematic, you've still given someone the ability to produce something that another bio-engineer spent 63 skill points (more, really, once you include the pre-reqs) to be able to make. This chef/tailor/whatever now has the ability to make what other bio-engineers worked their rears off to be able to make, and all he did was give you a measly 500K of Monopoly money. He didn't put forth the time to work through 4 trees of the bio-engineering profession. Personally, I see this as unfair. Admittedly, I use master doc components in my petstims, and those components are created by...yep, you guessed it: a schematic. I'm not in any way saying this is an example of a particular player ruining the game; I'm simply pointing out that it hurts the economic plight of the typical bio-engineer (and, in the case of doctors, it hurts the doc market for advanced med components, although I've yet to see them on a bazaar or vendor anywhere anyway).

As far as selling DNA...heck, I don't see how that's bad. I've been known to occasionally buy someone else's creation in order to extract DNA for a certain combination of specials. I've yet to overtly buy any DNA (I don't see why I would want to, really, unless it was mutant rancor DNA and saved me a trip out to the Breeding Ground), but I don't think that hurts bio-engineers. I say this because buying DNA still "keeps it all in the family," so to speak.

Personally, I feel that people like the person who's whoring himself out are damaging to our profession (for the aforementioned economic reasons). I also think that in doing so, he disrespects the hard work and effort put forth by every other person who's made the Mt-Everestesque climb to master. In selling himself short, he manages to devalue the skills of every bio-engineer who truly cares about his product, his reputation, and his profession.

Please explain how he is letting himself be exploited or how he is damaging the profession by selling his schematics or DNA?

OK BE #1 makes crates of additives for Chef #1. BE charges 50K a crate, chef goes through the more laborious process of turning it into Brandy then charges 300k a crate

Next day

Holomonkey offers free schematics - Chef #1 sees a chance to save 50K a crate and jumps for it, and has enough stockpiled resources to not need BE #1 for 3 months

Now you state that you're in this for the pets. That's cool. There are some of us who are in it for the tissues. Please don't compete with us by offering free or minimal price schematics since it allows the chefs to eliminate us from the production process. Would you like it if a BE on your server was giving away free pets to all comers which were just as good as yours?

Simplest solution, imo, is to stop the trade in schematics

People, get off your high horse and look past your knee jerk reaction to holo grinders.

This guy isNOT GIVING ANYTHING AWAY!

He is SELLING the schematic. Somthing I am also willing to do.

If I produce40 crates of BSN and sell them at the market price on my server, I will gross 2 million credits. However, in order to do this, I will have to go through the headache (to me) of gathering or buying the required resources.

If I sell my 1000 unit schematic I will gross/net 1.2 million credits and the Chef can go through the headache of gathering the resources on his/her own and leave me out of it.

Yes, it is obvious that giving away schematics is going to hurt other crafting. But, selling schematics is only shifting the work load.
