I don't know about the rest of you, but i did not become a BE so i can sit around and make something i cannot use.
I WANT to use my own....."test subject"..../grins
I'm not saying give us creature handler skills.

Here is my fix to BE
Allow us to use one pet at a time, give us 4 commands, attack, release, follow, and trick one. That would allow us to name our pets and they would be of some use to us without threating the Creature handlers.
Personally i think our pets should be less loyal and less willing to die for us than a CH pet, for that they have rasied thier pet and bonded to it. all we do is make one. We put far less of an investment into a pet than either CH or Driod engy. For the lack of time and or credit investment what do we give up? the complete albillty to use or sell anything we make??? At this point no creatue handler would buy a BE pet, since it lowers their pet number to 2.

Ok, with that out of the way I would like to say that i love this proff and will play it through thick and thin...mostly thin it seems.

To recap: I think most BE would be happy with 1 pet at a time and enough commands to name it and make it of some use to us.

Come on all Bio-Engineers.... Stand proud, let's get our class patched up.

and if i turn out to be wrong on this im going to make a bearded jax and let it kill and eat me ......very slowly.

Well if you really want to use your own creation as a Pet of your own, then you should have to learn Creature Handler skills. There's plenty of Skill Points that you can learn both. Heck probably Master both and have a few left.

I almost agree. I think it still cheapens the CH a little too much though.

I think we should be able to make mini versions of some creatures to sell as pets. They would be baby size when full grown, would have extremely limited HAM bars, would only have the first tier commands butwouldn't follow a command attack, and could be used by anyone.

I know many people that would rather have a little pet dewback than an MSE. I could laugh for days just watching little baby banthas chasing each other around Mos Eisley starport.

I plan on Mastering both Bio Engineer and Creature Handler. I even have enough points left over to get some decent pistol skills.

I think we should have limited abilities with our pets. The only thing that I think we should be able to do with our pets is teach them to follow, stay, and one trick. That would be "showing off our wares" to others.

I also think that once they are trained in those three, that anyone we sell them to ought to be able to use those same commands. This would not interfere with CH, because they can train their pets to do much more, including attack. A good comparison would be a police dog (CH pet) vs a kids pet (limited commands and abilities).

This would also increase the market for BE pets. Then anyone could have one just as a novelty. It would not give them an advantage in the game, and wouldnt interfere with CH.

You would need to limit which pets you could do it with. If everyone ran around with a domesticated rancor, it would be immersion breaking. I can see letting BEs make and sell the novice pets to the public.

Giving BE's CH skills wouldn't be right (in my opinion).

Why? Because you can master both Bio-Engineer AND Creature Handler, and still have 50 skill points left to jack around with.

So, my friend, you CAN use your own pets. You just gotta get the proper skills first.

Oh, and make sure you use this: http://swgcb.yogn.net/swg-cb.php?rs=269&t=0

This is off the issue. The issue here is not weither or not i can work it around to be able to use my own pets, the issue is that at this point BE's are useless and have no role in this game.

We are unable to use or benifit from ANYTHING made with Bio-Engineer skill.
Also, as it stands there is a Bio-pet bug, so that any CH that has one is limited to 2 pets, no matter how many they are supposed to have.

Lets go over what a BE can make
A: a very limited number of creatues no one but a CH can use, and why would they want to?
B: Constricker Cloth, ok here is our only real source of income, but how lng can you expect to supply the tailors, before they get a schematic made for a factory?
C: Micronutrient supplement.....oh there is a hot seller, i'll be making all 2 of the chefs out there happy.

There are plenty of other professions. Pick one you like.

Well first of all, I don't want to be a BE just so I can make tons of imaginary money...I want to be a BE as well as a CH so I can take my creations onto the battlefield along side my PA.

If people don't see the BE as being any fun or don't have an interest in it, then by all means, look for something more suitable to your tastes.

If you want to be able to use your own creations as pets, that's exactly what the CH profession is for. If we get free but limited skills to control our own creations, then shouldn't the CH get some free but limited skills to engineer his own pet?

The only thing I can see as fair to give the BE is just to have it follow you around. Kind of like advertising, but that's it.

If you really want to control your creation, learn some CH skills.

I'm curious.

I'm a complete newbie at this game, just started yesterday.

I liked the idea of being able to make the pets via being a Bio-Engineer, and I also really like the way Creature Handling sounds.

My questions are -

A) What profession should I start out with, Scout or Medic?

B) Once I start one of those profressions, should I branch out into Creature Handler first, or should I try to get Bio-Engineer first?

C) How do you get skills for a Medic if you start as a Scout? Couldn't seem to figure that out, and haven't read a really clear explanation yet (steep learning curve to this game, or I'm just tarded, either way...)

Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated! Sooner I find things out, the quicker I can go back to spend large sums of time incapacitated!

A) I started out as scout and immediately picked up medic and marksman. (you need to kill things in order to harvest from them) As long as you migrate your stats before picking a planet, it doesn't really matter. I'd start with either medic or scout though, so you get the crafting tool.

B) The way my guy is progressing I will hit BE first, but I'll only be Exploring III and Exploring IV away from CH as well. It really depends on what you want more from the scout tree, exploration or hunting.

C) Just go to a trainer for whatever profession you want to add. If you start as scout, go to a medic trainer and they will train you as a medic too. Each new starter profession costs 100c.

For advertising, I seem to recall a beta thread where someone was able to drop thier pets on the ground and it would just stand there and do the idle animation. I'm not sure how they did the "dropping" though. Thier idea was to make a house, have the animals all lined up like a zoo and use that as the showroom for selling them.
