Im looking to find out what a respectable price on milk is? I collected quite a bit over the past 2 weeks and was trying to sell the odd sized portions first to get an idea of what i could get (without being to greedy and yet i would like to get compensateed for my time) any answers appreciated.

Thanks

Since it is easier to collect and found in much larger portions from low level creatures than meat, I would expect no more than 5 - 8 C/U for it unless it has excellent stats.

As for you holo-grinders, this is a great source if you are not buying junk meats from guildmates for the "creature food" as it is exceptionally easy to collect 1500 units in an hour or so if you use a bike and travel areas with a large herbivore population, which translates into 10K of exp in a grind.

Plus you can milk the herbivore, then either sample it or kill it for meat. Iusually milk the critter, get one sample and then kill it for meat, but sometimes my sampling kills it. Darn rusty needles.

Milk is just as easy to gather as hide/bone/meat, the quantities are also just as high so theres no reason for them to cost more. I sell them to resource suppliers on the TC for the same amount as the other animal resources.

I disagree that it's just as easy to get as other hand harvested organics from creatures since if the target gets up and starts to walk off you have to (generally) remain within two or three meters or your harvesting stops and you have to close and start again. And since it's below the threshold of the /follow command you have to do it by hand. And if your mask scent breaks them you have to start over as well.

With larger, higher level creatures they don't tend to move so fast when they're not spooked or in combat but the smaller ones are pretty darned friskie.

While that does make it a bit harder than harvesting meat/bones/hides, I don't think it will jump the price more than 25 to 33% higher. And this is just MHO.

Yea, I actually find milk much easier to get now then any other creature resource. If you find a lair of pickets, that's generally 300-400 milk right there. If you find a wild lair of something like Cu-Pas (which are everywhere) or even Bagerasets, you can easily walk off with 500-600 milk from one lair (and at the same time hunt them a get other resources at the same time... bonus!).

As far as the creatures walking off, if you practice a bit you can actually keep stride with them and milk them while moving (/follow does not work for this however). What I do is try to stay at the "front" of the animal, kind of where its head is while its walking and milking works fine while doing this. I'd say I have at least a 75% success rate now even if the animal is moving pretty quickly.

As far as price? hmm, dunno. I've seen no rhyme or reason to the milk pricing on the bazars yet. No norms have been established. There isn't a great deal of it for sale though, at least on my server. I actually collected some really awful milk that it too poor for me to use. I'm going to try to sell it on the bazar tonight, lol, we'll see how it sells.

If anything, Milk is now the easiest creature resource to get. My server's got some prime wild milk on Dantooine right now. A picket plainswalker will give me, with 4/0/4/0 Scout, between 65-110 units of milk. That same picket will only net me, at best, 50 units of bone/hide/meat. Cmon. If anything, milk should be the cheapest of the creature resources now. It's all too easy to obtain in large quantities.

thanks for all the replies so far. What ive started to figure out is people seem to be selling and buying milk in the 5cpu to 20cpu depending on quality and some have offered more if i have a10k stack of milk (which i dont) they would pay 50cpu, im assuming they want good quality.

Im thinkin 7.5cpu for most of mine and maybe 13cpu for my 900+oc milk

thanks

Well, I put 3 stacks of 500+ milk, each stack listed at 6k. Truly awful milk, lol, all 3 stacks were sold within a half hour.

I don't think the bazaar is a good barometer to use for determining pricing. The last couple of weeks, as I approach master BE, I've been looking at meat every time I get near a bazaar terminal. My conclusions are that if a resource is reasonable prices (meaning that it's cpu is indicative of it's quality and not 10 or 20 cpu for junk) it sells quickly and so all that's left is things that people are hideously overpricing.

You do, of course, occasion upon things priced well but then you buy them and so they don't stay up long (next time I find 1k of good avian meat for 6k creds I'll have to see how long it's been up there).

(just my 2 creds)

Yep, hehe, get used to that. I stay pretty much glued to the bazar. I've had a fair amount of luck buying pretty much all the dath carnivore meat I can use at 10cr/u or less, but anything other than that is a crapshoot. Some days you get lucky and get something nice, most days you don't. And then there are always those that put stacks of 10 avian meat and try to sell them for 6k, rofl.
