Hu
I just returned from a long absence from the game and I am amazed at the meat prices atm, I see most BEs on my server selling crates of BSNs for in or around 40k, this is 1.4k per BSN and if you assume you have no other expences at all i.e. you have no house and have the free use of a factory and get all your other resources free and dont want to make a profit the highest price you can pay for your meat is 70cpu. Most of the good meat I have seen is running at between 50 and 100 cpu. SO my question is how are the rest of you getting your meat, with the best meat I've been able to get myself I get a 83 BSN, I know there is no great meat on the server atm but even when there is I will never be able to stockpile large enough of it to keep me going for long. The only thing I can think of is that you all have ranger alts.
One more thing why are we upping our prices? if chefs can afford to pay huge prices for meat then why aren't we charging them more for the tissues we sell them?
Please dont mistake this for a rant I'm simply looking at the math and cant figure it out.
Thanks

This is why we're not upping prices
The sitation with regard to resources is pretty dire. If can gather your own meat you could selling for more profit than you could the addatives a lot of the time. If you cant gather the meat yourself/get it cheaper than market prices then you'll struggle to make a profit on chef addatives.
Tailor tissues can yield a larger profit but the resource requirements are much harsher.

It's a big problem. A chef who has an alt BE (or can get free BE schematics, same thing) can afford to pay 50cpu or more for meat, because that is what they price bivoli at, and most of that is machine-harvestables.But theycertainly won't pay for an additive that is priced at that level (50cpu or whatever) so that means that a BE must find a way to get his meat more cheaply than the chef does. So there you go. Personally I just quit making chef additives for that reason.

That thread was disturbing Nancy.
Like arthur and many other B-Es, I usually don't bother making food additives anymore. Once in a while I'll use some B-grade meat and make a run of BSNs, then put them up on my vendor for a month or two. Basically, it's charity work.

I agree it was distrubing but I'm very thankful to those that took the time to reply, they were polite and brutally honest.

Only reason I can afford to make chef additives is I'm collecting my own meats with my Jedi.
I have a couple friends I supply with lower end additives since I get what meat there is rather than the good stuff.

Hello, I'm a recent BE convert...
I've been having an interesting time crunching the numbers on Tarquinas about meat and Chef Additives. My lastest endeavor is to create a BE Coalition or BE Union that will try to hold the prices of Additives to competitive values.
On my server the high volume Chefs will only pay 35k per crate for 87 BSNs, and most others will only pay the same amount. My profit margin is decent with a 1400credit BSN, however at 87 nutrition its difficult to get the meat... especially when Brandy sells for 200k+ per crate, using these same BSNs. Its only reasonable that the Chefs should pass on the profit margins to their BEs, they're making 5+ digit profits, while we're lucky to make 4 digit profits.
I've been doing the meat harvesting mostly myself... but I can't get enough stuff to make high runs. The prices are too expensive to buy it and charge 1400, or even 2500 per BSN. at 70cpu the meat drives the BSN to 1750, and in my opinion making 750 credits per BSN is NOT worth the effort.
Alas, I'm not established enough as a BE to Demand prices. However, I'm gonna be working with a guildmate soon, and hopefully he will share the profits with me...
Peace,
Elijah

To be honest I think the combat balance is only going to make things worse, the amount of meat on the market is going to drop like a stone once ppl cant solo the larger creatures like rancors, they wont be harvesting as much meat or getting the 37k payouts for the missions and the demand will still be there so prices will only go up. I hope the devs realise things like this before we all find outselves with no meat, hide or bones. On the plus side the combat rebalance might push up the number of CHs about the place.

On the flip side of the coin, buffs will no longer be *as* important, nor will they be used to solo 30k missions, therefore buff prices will drop and docs wont be able to afford to pay as much for meat.

I love "cause" and "effect" scenarios.
I won't do Chef additives because, theyneed full runs. That's alot of darn resources and I simply don't have the time or combat/scout ability to do it.The only way a BE has a chance at that market is if theyhave
However, I am more than willing to let a Chef supply me with their resources and credits to do a schematic for a nominal fee....depends on how nice they are to me.
