Thread: Rancor DNA Trick
just make sure you have your speeder close to you
The only tip I can offer you is Patience. In the end it will pay off. I sampled bull rancors for about 3 hours last night and went home with 50 samples of AA-VHQ qualities. Now my vendor is stocked with powerful pets.

I am master be and my tricks are to wear a couple mask scent/ camo stat clothing and some armor that will protect you a little.. this way you can sneak up on them. Walk slowly to them, and dont walk up to them head on. Seems like if you do they will detect you. i always try to go toward their back or sideways. It helps if you whistle innocently too *wink* haha
I like to take a CH friend that has a good tank incase they aggro we can run (lol). Having your bikes about 100 meters helps. If you get too close on your bikes they will detect you, so i stop around 100 meters and walk. If i am by myself i will burst to the bike and take off if they agro.
Those are my tips. Hope they help 
There are two mask scent "barriers" at 64m and 40m. In a group of Rancors, count the Rancors fist then RUN from 80m to 64m to break mask scent once for each of the Rancors in the group. They are less likely to break mask scent if they have done so once already (or so it seems to me). Then WALK to 41m, go prone, and CRAWL down to 10m. Once you are within 15m you can run around without mask scent breaking as you have already passed the check for it to break. As another poster mentioned, in a group of Rancors do not keep re-sampling the same one. If you can, switch targets every sample to a different Rancor to give them time to forget those annoying needle pricks.
This method assumes a lot of theory and conjecture but it seems to work pretty well for me.

Speeder out to cave - find a mutant rancor - sample - fail sample fail sample fail die. Repeat till you get 1 sample from mutant and watch it keel over robbing you of extra attempts - /cheer
LOL Hey I know that trick well.
As for someone saying that they detect you on your bike I beg to differ, I mask scent ride slowly up to em they detect me Iturn around or wait there if they havn't aggor'd mask scent again then slowly cruise up to em. When I get close enough I jump off my bike sample and target my bike, wait for them to aggro and jump on my bike and split hopeing they don't kill me in one hit. But the moral of the story is ride in slow and softly and keep your bike close for the super fast getaway. I don't wear armor so they usualy nail me in 2 hits.
Mask scent, go prone, crawl, and I mean crawl slowly. Try to position yourself somewhere in the middle of the group so you can sample from more than one. Wait 1.5 min before sampling the same rancor again. One night I did this and was never aggro'd once, got about 5 samples from each rancor and then they died. Some nights I've noticed the rancors seem more sensitive to my presence, but burst running and running towards a hill seems to get them to lose interest in me.

Yeah sometimes it does, if you really want that particular DNA. This is why myself and other BE's are asking our customers and friends to be patient while we experiment and spend lots of time collecting DNA. Being patient is actually faster and yields more DNA samples than running around getting aggro'd all the time, not to mention dying and decay less.

i havent really tried to get anything good as far as dna goes. i just grinding thru sampling 1 thru 4 in abotu 6 hours. if anyone needs to grind thru sampling go to dathomir.
