What do you think?

BravoL,
I am a bit new at this B.E. lark to have experienced this particular problem - although from reading this forum it does seem to be a contentious issue.
However, in answer to your question; yes, if B.E.s wanna sell their schematics they should be able to... its a free market economy after all!!! HOWEVERif you get abuse from someone because of your prices you should let them know why you value them so highly - maybe they don't understand the value of these things!!! If they still don't like it then you should (politely) tell them what they can do with their business!!!

/addignore <their name>
/say addignore <their name>
/taget <them>
/wave
resolves the issue pretty handily
Either they want to make the product and sell it themselves or they want to make the product themselves and use it in their crafting. Either way, you are doing nothing but loosing money in the long run no matter how much you charge for the schematic (well, ok, you could charge a 200K for the schematic)

My personal opinion is that i would never sell schematics at all regardless of sum offered simply on principal, unless it was to a guild member.
But i dont like to dictate what others do, id not think as much of someone who did sell schematics, But that is their choice, and i guess their short sightedness.
Most people online are not very receptive to constructive criticism i find, so maybe one sticked well thought out post explaining the reasons behind why selling schematics is not considered a sound judgement by the BE community could give the facts to the other BE and then let them then decide for themselves if they agree or disagree, then do or do not.

I have yet to be asked, however my price for schematics will be 7.5k per crate of 25, plus a few extra for factory schematics.
This is roughly my profit on a crate of nutrients and saves using my own resources or factory time. It is likely cheaper for a chef than paying for pre-made crates since they can gather their own resources. We both get what we want and I don't feel cheated.

I personally wouldn't make a schematic nor do I sell additives in their raw form. However people are free to do whatever they wish, ie make schematics and give them away for free or sell them for a mil. What they do with their time is thier choice.

I would sell a schematic (for a hefty fee like 250k, not something worthless like 10k) to a regular customer to make sure they don't go to another BE. Selling schematics may also be a necessity for poorer characters who need the money to invest in harvesters and such.

no - selling schematics undermines the entireconcept of a crafting profession. They shouldnt even have the ability to trade schematics, theres no plausible reason you'd use one that didnt involve undermining the server economy. If I find any BEs that do sell schematics at anything less than profit-per-unit I try to educate them as to what it does to their fellow BEs that are trying to make a living =)

I'll use a quote from my favorite tv show "the simpsons"

Sold a schematic today. 200k for a schematic limited to 150 BSNs. Chef was delighted and I made a little more money than I would have done if I'd bought the meat and flora, loaded up my factory, waited around for it to finish and then sold the crates.
This is a knowledge economy. Bio-engineers are the boffins of SWG. We don't do manual labour. We aren't heavy lifters who sweat on the factory floor. We are the contractors who charge hourly rates for our expertise and go fishing in the afternoon.
If that chef had turned round and said I was charging too much I would have said "fine" and been on my way. I don't need the money. I'll never be as rich as a chef but I have all the cash I need. Selling schematics is quick and easy as long as you remember that you are selling something much more valuable than any resources. You are selling the 121 skill points you put into the profession. You are selling all those constrictor cloths you levelled up with. You are selling the hours sampling yard trash outside Coronet. You are selling your knowledge. You gained it the hard way and you have earned the right to charge a fair price.

What do you think?
Would I ever sell a schematic?: no
Would I stop someone else doing so?: no
Would I /addignore anyone who wanted to hassle me about pricing, schematics or anything else? : yes - do it all the time

I have yet to sell one, and probably won't unless it is for a very hefty profit.

Well , i see the discussion was not so bad....The idea of limiting the number of units you can craft from a schem is not a bad idea.
But i see also that some of you have my same thoughts...i mean that we do not like to sell schems
Well this confort me a lot. I'm not a crazy hermit who do not like this kind of market
