Much as I hate it, as it stands on TC3, your Combat level has an enormous effect on how survivable your template is out in the wild
For those who've not been on TC3, damage done and damage taken are directly affected by the difference in combat levels between yourself and your opponent
Now as we all know, BE pretty much has to be a solitary profession. Sampling MRs in a group just isnt feasable. So...which combinations of professions (incluidng MBE) give the highest CL?
the best Ive found so far is CL 62 (MBE + MCH + 1 tree in BH ) or (MBE + MBH + 1 tree in CH)
my current template (TKM/MBE) is a CL 57/58 (cant remember), even though I I put the excess boxes into brawler.
the difference between the 2 options is that in the first 2, there are more elite combat boxes filled, in the TK one (whilst there is a lot of Brawler filled) there is only 1 full elite combat tree
Anyone else tried any other combinations out?
Edited - Master Scout / MCH/MBE and 3 boxes of Ranger gives level 61. Slightly below the ebst Ive found, but this seems the most enjoyable template Ive found so far. the Master Scout mask scent bonus really helps.
p.s of course the above options dont include any vendors.

If memory serves, scout/ranger add to level, so perhaps mbe/mch/0030 ranger would be good?

wow is that possible? here I was thinking I'd have to trash most of my current template and rethink everything ! currently mbe/mch / pistoleer 0/0/4/0 (fanshot) gonna hate to give up my nifty pistols and AoE special but hell if I can keep my mad scientist skills AND be remotely useful from the critter skills and pick up a bit of ranger to gather resources to boot I might just put that credit card number back in rofl.. thank you for a small ray peeking through the clouds, I definitely needed it

You can be a MBE + MBH and some CH? If this is true well I think I'll be making this template once cu goes live. I thought I tried this with a cu char builder and wouldn't work out. They must have changed the skill points or something on test center.

I am relieved to hear that Scout/Ranger count towards CL level. I was certain I'd ahve to drop most, if not all of ranger to keep things equitable. As it stands I am MBE, Master Scout, some TKA, CH & Ranger.

mch + mbe + 0030 ranger came out cl 61
I was able to sample rancors and mutants and run away when aggro'd without dieing
I wore padded which helped mitagate damage alot.
lots of the new weapons only require a certain combat level so that allowed having decent fighting skill.

Well the CU is the end of dabbling for many, including me. On Bria-TC I have to respec everything: -28 skill points!
Was: CL47: MBE/Smuggler 0130/TK 0113/Pistoleer 0040
I could base slice 2 terms; have some defense in PvP;trade aggros on vicous DNA sampling with feign death.
Now: Not sure either, I heard MBE/Master Carbines was decent.

I've finally read through all this CL stuff and there's no way that I can keep BE after CURB. ... WHICH REALLY REALLY REALLY SUCKS.
So from what I understand a Master BE has a CL of around 17? My other skill points are invested into Armorsmith and Merchant. So, I'll only be able to sample critters CL 17 or less...
What if I join a solo group? Does that increase my CL?
This is seriously the most idiotic thing I've ever heard of.... basically you absolutely positively HAVE TO be a combat Bioengineer. How much nonsense is that?
Forget about Combat Bioengineer..... YOU HAVE TO BE A COMBAT CRAFTER! Joe Schmo weaponsmith/merchant/artisan decides to go check factory.... OOPS 1 hit killed by a huurton baby!!!!
GAH THIS blows

TKM/MBE with scout 4040 and medic 0304 came out cl57
it seems to me that the combat/crafter toons are in for some hard times ahead.
The tailor i supplied quit and after testing CU they are not coming back and chefs (imo) are too greedy, so as tissues go for me, no money
I do enjoy making pets, but with only 1 CH in my guild of 50, i only make nonCH anyway
I dont have enough pts for a vendor, but I never was into BE just for the money, that was a bonus, but after testing CU for several hrs, I dont see how I can keep BE, with the new addition of all the meds, and the resourses needed, ill wont be able to hunt the way i could before, so for money ...its either duty missons in space or go pure combat and ground missions and sellin of loot
thats if I dont cancel my account..im paid thru june so Ill find out than

Can you actually kill stuff being MBE +Mranger?
Probably not. I frogged up to it to see what it would be but figured it was more an option for someone with a permanent side-kick - not something I'd like to do. Dropped it and got MTK but I don't think there is any more testing that I can do now. Our testing team has pretty much systematically done the BEST testing of our profession and - gratz and thank you on that.
