Ding-dong the BE's dead.

So they've upped the limit of the number of creatures a CH can hold, lowered the number of combat pets they can have out at once to 1 and make it so the meat shield effect doesn't work. All to "discourage the dabbler" who will still be allowed to have a graul. Non-ch's are now going to be lowered to only having one pet (faction/droid/creature) out at a time and if its a creature the CL limit on the creature is 10. So in one fell swoop they've made it so we're in direct competition with DE, our primary customer base has been shifted further toward CH and that CH's are now our primary competition. (They really never were before this) The CH's will now have a hard time acting as a combat effective class. They are being pushed hard towrd doing the trainer/tamer to make money thing. They are being given the tools to do this. They will now get 4 to 6 extra creature slots. Since they can no longer do creature combinations they stop needing about 12 to 14 dedicated slots for combat creature and now only need 4. Lowered combat means less oppurtunity for stim/vitality pack sales. Given the ease of finding level 10 creatures most CH's will just wonder outside and grab the critters on the side walk. So something like 75% of our class will be made useless in 1 fell swoop. I also find CH's to be my best source of meat. So I not only lose the two best items out of my remaining tree but the price of meat is going to go through the roof.

Yup, I just saw the end of the BE. Its rediculous. I was really hoping they were going to put some thought into this. While trying to balance the CH, they completely screwed us, and I mean screwed us hard. Who do you think is going to be buying pet mounts. CH can just go and tame them. Kaadus are insanely easy to find and babies even more especially so. They continue to leave mounts in out novice skill box which is going to cause a brief surge in BE's and a steep crash in BE population once the market is saturated. Given the choices what would you do?

1) Tame mounts and train them as you find them. Then sell the babaies just as quick?

2) Take novice BE and be your own supplier.

3) Find a BE and have him supply you.

I can only wonder.

Then they are going to release more types of tameable creatures to the world. I dont know about you guys, but even if they give us the supposed double the current pets we have, I imagine that tameable pets is going to be nearly double-triple the number of craftable pets. Wheres the balance from the supply side?

ARGGHHHH. Im just so frustrated right now.

As a MCH/MBE I find this a welcome set of changes to the CH profession and by no means an end to the BE profession. In addition to making mountable creatures for CH the future cloning changes will provide us the ability to make more unique CH pets. Its only going to get better I think.

Everyone will have to choose between mounts and pets? Noooo!!!!! I'm not making a million kaadu!!! I won't do it! I won't! I won't! I won't!!!

Any creature handler who is not a master will have to walk everywhere they go? NonCH have to choose between a mount, a droid, a faction petand a sickly lvl10 creature pet? What's next? Making players choose between carrying a weapon and wearing armor? Even with the changes comming, is it even possible to bring a dewback down to lvl 10?

So, CH's will soon be known as pedestrians, DE's get more competition, like they need it, BE's market gets limited to a novice item, and anyone participating in the GCW may decide to have a single trooper for the sake of conversation out in the wild.

For the third time this month I have to stand back and wonder: What the hell were they thinking????

Thanks for the heads up, there are some interesting changes there. For the most part I like how it looks - only time will tell though (given their track record ).

The change and how it effects the bio engineer.

They are adding more babies for critter handlers and we still have out broken pets

Unless a bio engineer is a full critter handler then we can not see my pets.

I will now have 3 dewbacks in my inventory that are useless

To my knowledge the mountable critters lowest creature level is 14

Our tissues are being limited again (and I just spent way too much money on the vary rare milk resource)

I will be dropping all bio and my limited critter to be a dancer. I would like to see them try and nerf dancers

a few good things about the patch:

CH are beingdramatically limited in what CL they can use, no longer the possibility for combinations... so:

--BE will have to create creatures at EVERY level... a CH may even come back to a BE several times to create an "older" (larger and stronger) version of theirfavoritepets (once everything cools down and we settle into the changes)

--BE creatures will be desired for the significantly higher stats than other animals at their CL.

CH are being given the abilities to use the special attacks of their creatures on command!!! ..so:

--BE will be saught out for the perfect combinations of attacks to suit each CH's needs (knockdown and disease, AoE poison and intimidate, ect).

theres a lot to besceptical about, but theres still a lot to be excited about. the cloning changes are gonna totally change the way BE's are laughed.. er.. lookedat

Most CHs, especially high level ones are so resentful of non-CHs now, that they don't want any of them to have pets of any kind, not even CL 10. I don't think you are going to see hords of CH out taming herds of level 10 creatures for the unwashed masses to use as pets.

The problem is going to be finding CHs willing to tame even the pets you do make. The DE fix is probably 2 or 3 months down the road, at least. It sounds like their fix is going to be at least as hard to code as yours is, and you know how long you have been waiting.

Mirrl you should realy make up your mind and check your skilltree(in case you didnt just dabble in BE )

there are some boxes called "tissue engineering"

if you try to make THOSE, you will sell far more of them then you ever sold pets

especialy petstims...

im master BE since one week, and made ONE creature during that time, TONS of petstim bs (which realy arent THAT hard to get resources for) and ALOT tissues ...

you should try to find some fun in the game instead on the boards beating the dead horse....

I ofcourse cant speak for all master creature handlers but from what I can tell it looks like both our professsions are in danger of being pointless.

I was hoping that BE would improve the CH profession by allowing me to purchase many differnt types of pets to use in different types of combinations. There is even debate weather a master will be able to use 2 pets at all because the change stated that +1 was only for the purpose of a mount. However this nerf will make useing any 2 pet combination worthless.

The MCH that I know, do not want to sell pets but rather play with and use their pets. There will always be some who will sell but to be honest most that I know dont. Unfortunitly the people who would have been your best and loyal customers are those who have creature handleing as their main profession. Pets are their life blood and you guys were going to be the source.

Even now many of the professional creature handlers are droping their skills or canceling their accounts but most are waiting to see what changes will actully take effect. I for one didnt work to become master, only to be a mount trainer for the combat classes.

If CH is turned into just another support class what will that do to BE ? Our two professions would have worked well together. I have to admit you guys had one hard time of it being so broken and told empty promises of fixes only to see your professionl partner nerfed out of the game. At least us creature handlers, for a short time were actully able to play with our profession. I hope things work out but from where Im standing, I dont see the developers changing thier position. It looks like both our professions are about to be flushed down the drain.

Idea's like this, that the devs post, just go farther to convince me that they are morons...

Normally I wouldn't say that on the forums, but since I'm fairly sure they never read anything in the BE forum, this is probably a great place to say this.

First, they believe that many "other professions" are CH dabblers in just 2 lines to get a really good pet (DUH!), was it someone who had no ability to actually read and comprehend how the skill tree's worked, that decided how thebonuses were to be placed on the last CH nerf? If they are upset that THEY blew it, when they put the bonuses to the CH skills mostly in two tree's, fine, move them around, I don't have a problem with that, even though it SHOULD HAVE BEEN SEEN FROM THE START.

Secondly, this NERF kills the already close to useless Droid Engineer as a profession (and I have that skill too, so I know what I'm talking about). There is now a grand total of ONE droid worth having, and that is a Advanced Probot with med rating, and a crafting station. Even then, it will be close to useless as a Non CH tank pet, since it's damage is sooo low, that it doesn't hold agro, and even worse YOU CAN'T HEAL IT. Even a level 10 living pet is better, since with high powered stims it can still tank, where as a Pobot can be used for ONE battle as a tank, then needs an hours rest to be useful again (healing on datapad). As to what is fairly "normal" now, a person having a med bot, out at the same time as a low level live pet, with this change, that will no longer be possible, and let's face it, which would you choose? A weak live pet, that will at least do some tanking, or a Droid ? How do they expect people to sell Droids, when your choice is have a minor tank, or have a Droid, since they are not going to let you have both.

This patch does very little for the BE in the long term. Sure, we may get more sales right after the patch, replacing all the Kahmurra's we sold withlower pets, but after that is done, we are again back to haveing little that anyone want's to buy.

Now back to my original theory the the Devs are MORONS...

The reason pets are so very popular, surely isn't because they responds so well to commands, never get stuck, and never hop back into the datapad when you really need them, it's because PLAYERS CAN'T TANK. Players put out massive amounts of damage in a short time, but can't tank for squat, not with healers, not with anything this game offers. If players COULD TANK, everyone wouldn't be running around with as many pets as they do, since pets are a royal pain, but are NEEDED, because of the fact no player in the game can tank. How the Dev's failed to notice this obvious fact is beyond me, but even in a LARGE group, you MUST have a tank if your going to take on the high level content in this game, and they have removed the possibility for Players to fill this role, and then complain when everyone uses a pet to do it. Am I the only one who see's it this way? If there is some excellent tank profession in this game, I certainly have never seen it played, can someone enlighten me here?
