Thread: Does the trash DNA farming still work with the new clone system?

OK. I'm not sure if this has been asked but I'll post it up just in case it hasn't

At the moment, we can pop a muon gold and spend a fair time collecting trash DNA from the local critters nearby towns. After collecting heaps we can then use these to make rancors/blurgs. From these trash clones we could then sample them to give ourselves reasonable level DNA for making mid level pets.

My questions is with the new cloning system will this be posible? If the clone CL we make is based on the sampled DNA used,if we use gnort DNA to make a rancor, will we end up with a gnort level rancor? Will this make this kind of DNA farming obsolete?

Does not work with the new system. If you make a Blurrg with Gnort DNA, you get a Gnort level Blurrg.

I'm not on test server, but think we could raise the level slightly through experimentation. Perhaps if you do several generations of better and better Blurrgs, you may get a high level sample. To me this just wouldn't be worth it.

I used to recycle my DNA as well. The other day I went to Endor and filled up on level 55 DNA very quickly. Try it. Its not so bad. Just go naked or with stuff you don't mind decaying.

As a truly insane person keeping Master Bio-Engineer (to see if it's worth it after the changes) and heading for Master Musician...I just wanted to point out that getting a Musician buff to your Focus/Willpower would probably be better than popping the Muon Gold. No downer, lasts a couple hours...and if you get a Dancer's buff to your Mind pool, you would have some insane blue stats. Just a recommendation.

Also...will we even be able to use gnort DNA for a rancor? I mean, if the base level of an engineered Kimogila is going to be, say, never lower than 30, we could still get yard trash DNA, make 'special needs' kimogila, sample those and use the resulting DNA samples to make lower-to-mid-level pets. Or will we not be able to use DNA too far below the lowest level possible for the skin type? Just wondering....

If I am reading all of the two-Tal's posts right you will actually hurt the CL of the creature by generationing it. First generation is based on the CL of the creatures you sample from and the quality. So you cap your CL there by using whatever to create your creature the first time. Experiment does not increase CL. You sample off that creature in your inv, again, your next generation pet is based off the CL of the creature in your inv and the quality. So the highest it could ever be is equal to the CL of the original creature. And I don't know about you but I rarely get allvery highquality DNA from sampling one thing. So next generation of creature could be lower level...and so on and so forth degrading the CL of your pet each generation.

So, would it be safe to assume that prior to the live implementation of the new system, we will be in a DNA Clone farming frenzy?

Hmm, I wonder then how that's gonna work. With 5 dna slots, does it cap at the lowest CL of the 5? Obviously there is no requirement that all 5 samples come from the same critter correct? Also, right now, the fierceness and phychology (or whatever they're called) dna slots are completely CL level independet. I've always thought that was kinda cool actually, and makes some sense. I mean, to make the ultimate animal you would think would require you to mix dna from say, some big dumb lumbering powerful creature, with some creature that has say some extraordinary aspects (special attacks, armor, etc.), with say a smaller, more nible, perhaps more intelligent creature. If it just becomes a matter of how many high level CL samples you can insert that kinda takes something away from the process.

I disagree...

Under the new system it will be possible that you can try to push the stats too high up and end up with a higher level creature than you desired, that is a risk you will have to take if you are trying to get the absolute best creature of a specific level.

In other words, experimenting with the stats can indeed add to the level of the clone.

KkoasReinz hit the point I was trying to remember. They did say we could possibly push the stats too high and make something untamabale. This leads me to believe that we will indeed be able to increase the level over the DNA used.

In reguards to the minimum caps on the critters it says iun the designer notes that these CL caps are artificial and seperate from the actual stats themselves. Thus you could have a Rancor with 200 HAM or one with 1000 and still find that the CL rating is the same, only when you exceed that minimum does the system work as normal.

As for samping clones, there is the possibility that it can be filtered since increasing the stats should increase the stats for the dna as well. However you will find it being a hell of alot tougher than it is at the moment since you'll no longer stick CL10 dna into a clone and produce CL50 samples.

Here is my 2 credits on this...

I figure that each generic DNA template we create is going to have a set (maybe hidden from us) modifier to the creature we make out of it. For instance, I make a DNA template out of 5 gnort samples. The modifiers on it may be -5/+5 or some such thing. Then the creature we make could be experimented (at the very most) to five levels below/above its average level. Anyone agree with this?

It's possible, however in Keldarins comparason he picked out the Jax and the Gurreck as prime examples of two species which currently are always strong or always weak. He said this would be changing. Therefore if a Jax can end up being strong in comparason to a Gurreck then you have to assume that the CL ratings can change by alot more than just 5 ratings. Indeed I'd say the only thing we can do now is once again sit and wait for this system to be repaired and working as intended.

I don't agree. I think what he was referring too here is the fact that you can make a cl 50 template and put it in a jax skin or a cl 10 template and put it in a gurreck skin. (Since cowardly gurreck are cl 15 currently I'm assuming there's no low level limit on this. I could be wrong.)

I've been assuming the cl adjustment will be independant of the stats, otherwise there wouldn't be much point. I would guess the possible adjustment isn't very large. An adjustment of 10 cl doesn't seem like much at cl 50, but at lower levels it's a lot.

I was referring to the fact that you can get a wide range of CLs for each body Talth, not just a case where a Jax body is limited to a range of CL5 to CL15. It could very well be possible to get a CL60 Jax.
