Thread: Mount Warning

BEs,

If you clone one of the non-CH mounts, please warn your customers that the deed needs to be tamed by a high-level CH.

Here's the issue. Until recently, you could trade a dewback through the trade window. This no longer works. Only non-CH pets can be traded. All others need to be transferred.

The problem is that once it's been tamed, you then have no way to get it to a high-level CH to have the transfer command trained. As such, the deed needs to be tamed and trained by a CH who can train the transfer command.

I found this out the hard way.

  • I tamed a mountain dewback and let it grow to its full CL. I couldn't trade it to a CH for mount training.

  • I tamed another mountain dewback and tried trading it as a baby. It wouldn't trade.

  • I cloned a dewback and tried trading it to a high-level CH as a baby. It wouldn't trade.

On the other hand, I've been able to successfully trade carrion spats, kaadu and plodding falumpasets. The trading restriction only applies to no-CH pets.

What's worse, a low-level CH must now rely upon a high-level CH for their mounts. A low-level CH can't tame their own dewback, as they don't have a means of trading it to a high-level CH for mount training.

For BEs, this means our customers must surrender their deed for taming, to a high-level CH. Only a CH with Management IV can tame Transfer, which is required up front for later mount training if it's a no-CH pet.

Yep. Everything about being a BE is broken, totally BROKEN. Now that they have removed the ability to add tissue to armor, we are even MORE wortless.

BE is broke, and the devs seem to be having a grand old time putting the screws to us even more.

ugh when did they do this?

I guess I won't be getting that humumba myself and then transfering it as baby for someone to train transfer.

I posted this in jest last night, butI actually did put this in the item description of an Eopie:
CL 7 when grown. Deed can be tamed by anyone, resulting pet in datapad must be trained by a Creature Handler. Pet deed can be traded without knowing the Transfer command. Not a mount. Illegal where prohibited, batteries not included. No assembly required, mount sold separately.

I put in descriptions on anything over CL15 that they have to be tamed and trained by a qualified Creature Handler, they cannot be traded after taming without the Transfer command, etc.

But since all that is underneath the creature's stats, I have my doubts that anyone ever reads it. Even though I had fun with the last bits. In a self-depricating way, of course.

hmmmm I guess its old news, but still annoying that I have to buy my pets from a higher level CH, considering I am a CH

According to an MCH in my guild, they did it a few weeks ago. I never saw anything about it, and had to learn about it the hard way. This morning I pulled all the mounts off my vendor and re-wrote their descriptions to explain it. Sigh. I hope it gets read.

This is misleading. Anyone can tame and trade a non-creature handler pet deed. Its the creature handler only deeds such as a dewback that require transfer. Its been that way since the last big patch (you'll remember the 100% aggro rate). I put in the description non-creature handler or creature handler only. Sometimes people read it sometimes they don't. I can only do so much. /shrug

This isn't new with the mount patch, it's came in some CH changes quite awhile ago, although I can't tell you when (how far back).

What they have fixed recently (again not in this patch) is the pets showing up in the trade window. However if you have a pet trained with the transfer command you can move them to another person this way (rather than having them out and issuing the command verbally - a /say or a /tellpet) and that seems to have confused quite a few people.

If the pet isn't trained with transfer and it's higher than CL15 (adult) then the secure trade window trade will fail giving you an error message telling you the pet hasn't been trained with the transfer command (I don't know if both sides get this message or only the CH).

And your eopie (CL7) CAN be moved in the secure trade window WITHOUT knowing the transfer command because it's a non-CH (below CL15) pet EVEN after it's tamed. I know this works now since I've had any number of people trade me their kaadus for mount training which have had no commands whatsoever trained. (should have read the whole thread before I posted since there's no edit)

Spazzers is RIGHT. The dewback could NOT be traded at all, never. It has always been none tradeable and has had to be transfered. The Dewbacks is after all CL18. Above the CL15.

To help with this problem I added to the vendor a small camp called *READ ME/PET AND MOUNT INFORMATION. In the description of the item I put a bunch of information about CH vs. Non-CH, procedure for making a mount, etc. Also add the level of each mountable creature.

If you put the * in front of the name it appears on top when people hit the All category.

I have a pair of emails I send anyone who has questions about pets (and anyone I sell a pet to). I haven't changed it yet to add in the pet info but I likely will.
