Thread: Why aren't BE's making a fortune supplying your tissues to Chefs and Tailors ??

I'm a master chef on Sunrunner, and I'm a terrible time trying to find a BE that will supply mewith crates of 80+ Broad-spectrum Nutrients. I'm paying 50K per crate of 25.I also know many tailors out there that are screaming for tissue to use in their clothing.

I used to be a MBE (holo) prior to patch 6 (so I didn't stock pile tissue for food), but I'm struggling to understand why you BE's aren't making a fortune and getting your tissue out there in quantity ? The margin is high, thedemand is certainly there, its easy money.

Thanks,

Beech

I've been wondering the same thing. I've been looking all day for BE Tissues for my clothing on Starsider. I've searched on 4 planets so far and have found 2 crates of tissue, and that's it. The primary use of BE's has changed since publish 6, but not many BE's seem to have caught on yet...the ones that have a very wealthy now.

Probably because it takes a lot of resources and good resources. Between all the chef stuff and the tailor stuff we can make, it is like every type of meat out there and tons of dif kinds of organics. My biggest problem is inventory space if you throw in pets and DNA.

I never have enough resources. When i do a run of tissues it takes like 4 dif kinds of meats for some, soemtimes eggs and mullusk and those are not easy to aquire.

Chef stuff is easier to make. There is such a high demand for it that when we make the stuff its gone that same day, so im sure that is why you are having a problem finding BE's to supply you.

I make most of my money off of petstims. /shrug

I guess you are probably right, and that's why so many chefs and such are asking for tissue schematics. Myself, I would rather support the BE profession by buying crafted crates of tissues for around 50k, however, when I can't get them, I know I'll settle for schematics.

And the resource demands are high. We need 20k stacks of meat to make one full run of Broad Spectrum Nutrients for chefs. That's a good days work for even a ranger, and when you're competing for the demands of the chefs and doctors, who also need this resource, it gets hard to find large stacks of it.

For the most part you have to con guildies into hunting, do it yourself, or offer large amounts of money to get a few runs in. Currently on Lowca we have an awesome quality Naboo reptile meat, but even offering 50 cpu it gets hard to find sellers - there's always someone else out there willing to pay more (and hence, you end up with the 50k, or more, crates).

It's always worth a laugh when I see some chef come on with a new pricing plan for BE's, that involve this magical and mysterious 5 cpu meat they seem to think exists in 100k stacks right next to the flora they're buying. We can make it in quantity, or we can make it cheap, but we can't do both until the devs add meat farms.

I am a master tailor/master BE and I can hardly gather enough resources to supply my own business, much less anyone else's. My husband is a master chef, so he keeps me busy doing that, too. The amount of meat to make just one run of anything is hard to get...so there is no way I could sell to anyone else. Plus, when you can make a pet that sells for 75K in about 10-20 minutes of sampling (or less if you get lucky), why sell a crate of tissues for 50K that takes 1-2 hours just to gather the resources?

Yes it is much more fun gathering DNA for pets then harvesting and buying resources. And pets sell at good prices..

I have been pretty discourages with the pet situation though, seems people are dropping CH, so the demand is getting thin, and the non ch pets being nerfed all the time isnt good.

I am thinking about either consentrating more on tissues. LIke the title says, you can still make good money doing that, just not as exciting =P

Its all about meat and the fact we cant just throw a harvester down to get it. I make good money selling bsn crates but I can sell them much faster than i can harvest meat

But we ARE making money.

My only problem is that I can't keep up with demand, and have started turning down orders that aren't at least from solid referrals. I have no stock on hand, and everything ordered must wait days for completion. My quality resources are depleted.

And I don't even make pets ona regular basis.

It's not because I don't want your business, it's because I've got a few customers keeping me VERY busy and I don't want to spend 24/7 buying meat and crafting components.

Typical conversation:
They - Yo.
Me - Yo?
They - Can you make me a pet/chef additives/clothing tissues?
Me - Love to man, but backed up on orders.
They - DAMMIT! I'll pay you twice your asking price!
Me - That's not the point, I don't have the stuff or the time.
They - I CAN'T FIND A SINGLE BE ON THE SERVER TO HELP ME!!!
Me - Sorry man.

And I'm not even searchable.

If Chefs on Farstar where willing to pay 50k /crate i would be making loads of money...

I just did a factory run making 1000 strength 87 Broad-Spec Nutrients and been asking chefs what they are willing to pay for a crate...

1 Chef said he would be willing to pay 30-35k for it the rest have been between 25 - 30k.... and to be honest that doesnt leave that much of a profit when you consider the resources cost for quality meat.

It's not monopoly, you don't win if you get the most money, maybe?

I got 250K in the bank. Not a lot by any stretch, but still more than I need for a while, a long while. So, I can buy 100k of resources, craft till I turn blue and end up with a few hundred K. And I'm further along how? Did I have fun?

Nah.

There are a number of reasons:
1) Not enough meat. Trying to keep up with demand is just impossible.
2) Making only components. As Marx pointed out, there is a certain satisfaction with making an item that isn't there when only making a component that will go into an item. Separation of labor.
3) CH/BE. Most BEs get into it to make their own creatures.
4) BE is just plain difficult. I know those that don't play it scoff at that notion, but there are tons of ex-BEs out there that will tell you it was too hard or just plain too boring.
