Yes you are doing very well actually, when you buy BE adds for brandy they usually rate between 84% and 87%. So when you use them your 234 brandy would be +437 with an 87% additive. Conversely, you can take those +400 or so brandys you see and divide them by 1.87 to see where they would be if the chef hadn't used a 87% additive.

The buff ranges depend on the type of food/drink and your experimentation in the "Nutrition" category.
Unenhanced Brandy has a range of around+150 to +240 M/F/W. The experimentation percentage determines the actual value like this:
Actual = min + (max - min) * Percentage / 100
So it looks you experimented the Nutrition category to about 94%, is that right?
The BE supplements add apercentage bonus to the base value. So a +85 Broad Spectrum Nutrient would take that same brandy and increase the buff size 185%, giving a +432 buff (234 * 1.85). Any brandy you see with buff size higher than 240 will have been enhanced.
You can see approximate ranges for the food stats on my revamp food chart:
http://home.comcast.net/~sciguyco/swg/FoodChart.htm
Those are extrapolated from various values of the experimentation percentage, but due to rounding they may be off a little.

Thanks guys...thought I was doing something wrong. Nice sight, sciguyCO, I bookmarked it. I looked there, guess I didn't look hard enough (I see it now).

Sorry to bother here, but I looked at the FAQ, went to the guides page, and I don't see where I am messing up. I made master last week (yay me!), had already started aquiring resources, had casks made up, 800+ grade OQ PE FL resources, and started making Brandy. Best I can get is 234, but I see folks here in the high 3-400's. I realize BE might be needed to get to 400+, but is what I'm getting now the best I can do without BE components? Or what might I be doing wrong?
Thanks for your time guys. Point me in the direction if this is a common question covered elsewhere!

Ok ive been a BE for about a week, and set a little mission for myself to make some usable low level mounts for my guildies (still novice so figured so low level kaadu's would be nice)
After throwing a picket and some random gene trash in to the template, i ended up with
Kaadu L9 3200/1600/1600
16% resists to kin/ene/heat/+couple of others, 90-110 damage, stunning strike
Suffice to say, for a novice i was very pleased with myself and managed to turn out a few similar level 9 and 10 kaadus of similar stats.
On using the first deed (for myself as a tester) it went straight to datapad, saying i didnt have sufficient skill - but it was level 9 right? I tried calling it again and got an interesting message saying the creature level was innappropriate - and asking me whether i wanted to alter the creature level or alter the stats.... Well not wanting to undo my hard work I hit creature level... do'h! The pesky critter suddenly turned into a L12 in my datapad!
If i had told it to restat instead, what would I have ended up with?
Its seems a little deceiving that a L9 mount isnt L9.....
Any comments are welcome, since I have an inventory full of similar critters I dont want to suffer the same fate....
Many Thanks

You did nothing wrong. I've had the same thing happen to me.
Every so often, it seems that the stats on a critter get borked during creation. A sanity check is performed on the CL when the creature is called from the datapad. Sometimes, this check doesn't catch the problem until thecreature has gone through a growth cycle or two...at least when it happened to me, thecritter had grown up past baby level.
If you had adjusted the stats, the critter would have been downgraded to a level 9.
You haven't been ripped off - you were never supposed to get a level 9 critter with the stats that you got.

I prefer the explanation that pet checks are FUBARed and have no rhyme or reason as to what is valid and what isn't. They should not be in the game in the first place and are just a stop gap meassure that got out of control.
That being said all you can do is not use the same combination in the future.

So, with the above things in mind, how many BE's have gotten complaints from customers about this - when the pet they purchased is downstatted or leveled up?
Are BE pets going to end up getting a contents disclaimer like containers and backpacks?

Well this is a long known issue so I assume most stick to known working combines at this time or at least test combines before putting on a vendor. Either that or they just don't make non ch pets at all(what is mostly affected by the pet checks).

This is nothing new. There have been more than one attempt to create a pet check by the devs. Instead of using a check during the creation of an animal to determine the appropriate level, the system allows you to make what is labeled a CL9 thenhave it declared invalid when you or your customer goes to tame it. That is the shear stupidity of the pet check from the get go. They can't or won't fix the creation process to assign the correct level in the first place. Again, its been an issue since the clone system was changed last December.
I used to make CL10 animals from scyk and cu pa DNA that had around 1K HAM. They're invalid. However, I can make CL10 animals from voritor dashers that have 5K HAM. They work just fine. How assinine is that?
