Hi there,

I am a new novice B.E. and I am wondering if there are any helpful hints you pro's might have for me when it comes to sampling DNA. I am still DNA sampling 1, so this may be my problem, but I will go out on the easiest mobs, like Durni's, and fail 4-5 times before I get a sample. Then the durni will die and I have to try and find another one and repeat the process.....TAKES FOREVER to collect 5 DNA for crafting a pet. Is there a way to get more than one sample of DNA from a single creature? Is there a faster way to sample too?

I don't have any hard evidence but in my experience sampling from creatures conning white and higher had a higher success rate than sampling from creatures conning blue.

No, but that is a high failure rate with DNA Sampling-1. I had that kind of rate as a Novice but I average 1 sample per 2 tries with DNA Sampling-1.

I hope the devs are going to make this easier, but I think they are struggling with the can of worms they opened up by having DNA Sampling kill. Difficult issues, they have to give us a way to advance but they can't just let us kill everything off easily.

Smaller things seem to give me more DNA as well.

The sample rate is not broken; it's just not easy and presented on a silver platter. There are many of us that are very high up the BE tree which proves that sampling works fine. You simply need more sampling experinece. It's like mask scent at explore level 2, it's really hard to use and mostly fails. You just need to get explore 3 and 4 and then you have much more luck with it.

Ok. I know I'm most likely going to get flamed for this but I think it needs to be addressed. I am a freshly starting Bio-engineer. I seem to be the only one in my area so have had some requests to have items made already. I have done quite a bit of DNA Sampling to fill this large orders. The problem I have come across is I don't think it's really fair to have the creature die after a sample has been taken. I know it doesn't happen everytime. But the times it doesn't is very rare. In the case of lower lvl creatures it doesn't effect much. But when I can walk up to something that is marked as Red (Instant Death), do a DNA sample and kill him without being attacked by any other creature in the area. Now if I were to exploit this. I have seen several reds around a white younger of the species. If I attacked the white the reds would kill me (I've tried). So if I just DNA Sample the reds. I can then just kill the white without a problem. I'm not saying make the creatures attack you when you DNA Sample. But atleast don't let us kill them off like that. Of course we don't want to be able to leave it so you can DNA Sample from the same creature over and over. Leave it up to chance. Just like sometimes when you either fail or succeed the creature will attack. Let it so if you try more then once. It may come after you or it may not. Give it the same chance as you would regualary. If you use up all the chances for it DNA Sampling on a creature it will come after you just for making another attempt.

Heh. Wait until you get to DNA sampling 4. I rarely kill creatures on the first sample any more; it's far more likely for them to kill ME on the first sample, at least when I'm doing reds.

I think that there is a good balance in DNA sampling. There is the possibility of being successful, success with being attacked, failing altogether, or killing the mob. Think about it, you are driving a needle into the very fabric of the creature's being and extracting it's essence. As you go up in the DNA tree, you be able to sample a creature several more times without aggro or death. I personally hate having to find several creatures to sample in order to get one clone. I think sampling should remain where it is because that is what makes this class so different from the other crafters, because you have the threat of death over you from every clone you make rather than sitting in a comfy shop.

I agree that the fail rate should be kept as well as them agroing you from taking a sample. I don't really like the fact of them dieing from a sample. It's like going to the doctors having them take a blood sample of you then you dieing. I just don't think is realistic nor fair. Many people get upset when I do a DNA sample in a group due to the fact that now the mob cannot be killed by the party just becasue I wanted to get some DNA first.

I think they should move aggro to fail. But generally I don't havea problem with fail or aggro rate. It's listed on my site though since many do.

How do you sample DNA from creatures?

You need to make a macro command if you want to use hotkeys or you can type /sampledna every time you want to sample and animal. Yes, we know they haven't added the hotkey for this command automatically for novices, yes we've reported it, yes they decided to ignore us and fix the melons instead.

Hey,
I'm brand new to the BE profession and I've been going out trying to sample DNA from different creatures and I'm not having too much luck. On simple creatures like mound mites or eopie it takes 3-4 tries and on other things I can't get any DNA at all. Is there any special way to do it or does it just take this long?

Something must be wrong. You're supposed to start out with 100% success rate on everything.
