It's always been like that.

Bug or not, get used to it and keep sampling. I got up to DNA IV in a couple days so it's not like it's really making itmuch harder to get the DNA. Sometimes I get DNA every try, sometimes I fail, sometimes I get high quality sometimes I get above average, average, or below average (though I haven't gotten below average much lately). Most of my samples are above average.

I will be glad when they finally get rid of that stupid bend over to sample DNA animation.

Same here. Did the grind to get DNA Sample IV before the nerf. Now I'm getting Average to High samples. Aggro is a crap shoot. Some lairs will aggro on every single sample. Others get sampled without a single aggro. I'm okay with that. Messing with the balance could make it worse.

I do agree with Vad though. The "bend over" sampling animation has got to go.

Perhaps more of a force grip animation?

if you're walking when you /sampledna there is no bend over animation - you can just walk around and follow the critter while you sample. as long as you're 16m or closer the sample won't fail because of distance.

Welcome to the wonderfully buggy world of BE. As it currently stands, chances for success do not greatly improve with increased skill level. The two things that do change are: increased quality of DNA samples and decreased chance of killing your target. However, the aggro-on-success rate remains about the same, so you'll get attacked more often as you increase in level. There are a lot of BEs who stay at DNA sampling I as it decreases their chances of dying.

This is one of the many things we've mentioned to the Devs and we are fairly certain will be changed when the Big BE Revolution Patch hits Live... whenever that is. As it stands, this profession requires an awful lot of patience.

Does DNA Sampling get any easier after Sampling I. I don't mind the low XP for crafting but it is a pain when it takes 3-4 times to even get a sample and then you have to wait for your mind to recharge.

If it doesn't get even remotely easier after the first level than I am not even going to bother with this profession.

Thanks in advance.

Yes sampling does improve whith level, by a lot.
Also, I would suggest improving your mind via stat migration, not just your Mind but the sub-catagories to lower the cost, and decrease the time it takes to "med". Doing this helped me emencly, my down time is marginal, gives me time to craft a few creatures for xp while I wait for my mind to come up.

ok, mawduke, if by 'improves alot' you mean 'at sampling 3 you will still fail on gnorts as often as you succeed' or 'you can sample a chuba with the same success as sampling a blurrg' then i agree with you. but if you are in some way trying to indicate that you get more successes, well, then you are just plain silly, as that is clearly not the case.

or did you mean 'you get better quality samples'? in any case, <grin>
