Just wondered if it would be fun...

This template just got a HUGE boost in todays CU Patch notes.

Both your Scout and CH boxes will now give you extra Health and added Combat Level, which in turn can be used to wield a LOT of weapons. Weapons will no longer all be tied to a profession, so say you are a CL50 player - you can probly wield a decent 150-200dps or so gun (estimation), albeit you won't have many specials to choose from.

Your pets will become your primary weapons though, as they are basically nukers (in a group) in the CU and with this template they would also be your tanks when you solo.

I am both M CH and M BE.. and have been for close to a year now. IF you hunt and attack carefully you can take down most creatures with your pets.. with a healthy supply of Pet Stims. I have placed most of my extra sp into vendors... and I have been using a pre-nerf blaster with light armor piercing.. so a little unfair.... but I am looking forward to seeing how things continue to work with the CU....

Time to grind and test some more

something i'm curious about, and forgive if this has been addressed multiple times, but:

for those with this template: how much extra do you charge for pet training?

i'm nowhere near master as far as handling goes, but i tend to outfit all direct-sale pets with every command i know. it often occurs to me that i should charge a bit more for the service... but i've been lucky in that i mostly deal with likeable, friendly people who i don't mind cutting a break.

i'd love an idea of how much others factor in as far as a complete package goes. price buffers are our damage mitigation.

I got it, it leaves you with little combat though, as i still need to run at least 1 vendor, a lot of Learning points are spent on artisan and up to business 3, then theres exactly enough points left to get up to 3 in a novice combat profession, so pistols 3 or carbines 3 and so on.. I myself got pistols 3 as pistols are fast firing and accurate at closer distances. I only use krayt weapons, but i realize that that is not a possibility for everyone. My pets are used for tanking, and they spam specials continuously, although i do have a bugged level 0(1) blurrg which is kinda like unfair, though he fits perfectly with my light armored lev 33 and lev 36 48%kin 49% energy veermoks. In the end it is still possible to do some combat, but dont expect much of it, maybe post CU this template will be more viable. I'm using it mostly because i want to make pets, and i want to use them, and i don't have 2 accounts. If you have 2 accounts then its better to mix BE with an elite combat and CH with an elite combat.

I usually don't charge for the pet training.... especially if it is my own pet.

If I am selling a full grown/trained NOn CH pet I tack on an extra 5K for growth time

See i was planning on Master CH, Master Bio Engineer and Master Medic... which means no combat skills at all... but surely the ranged attacks of some pets and the tanking ability will put you in the same league as any uber template stacker... also once the CU kicks in - bacta spray and bacta toss will ensure all my pets stay alive even while i keep my distance...

Was just hoping to make the pets with the engineer and train them with the CH... hope it works that way

You've been reading my mind. That's what I was thinking of doing, post CU.

I am actually going for this Template after some serious considerations.

I will be a Master Bio-Engineer / Master Creature Handler....With a touch of Novice Rifleman so as my pets goes attack, I can shoot from a distance, or Sample DNA while they have some of the Lair pre-occupied.

So I am still moving up the trees at a slow pace, but that is what I am going to end up as

While it sounds like a perfect template in theory, I orignally droppedCH infavorof a vibro-knucklerbecause:

  • pets sometimes ungroup and vanish for no reason during a fight

  • pets sometimes do not do what you tell them

  • pets cannot be called out during combat and if you are attacked when you pet is not called you cannot defend yourself

  • pets cannot keep up with a swoop or travel in a ship so you have a delay everytime you travel in anyway, and if you are attacked when you stop the swoop/get off the shuttle, you cannot defend yourself

I think the question is more ... can you really do MCH without another combat profession?

Now this makes perfect sense....especially since i have been on my otehr toons a TKM since they were born (outside fo the usual grinding process)

Now that I am getting into CH...the list above does fall into play, but I have always wished to be a CH and really did not want to change my template to meet the needs of a CH, SO this is a risk I am willing to take, except that first point you made.....sometimes it has cost me my life when i am about to go into battle and the cat is off killing durnie's.....

I see what your saying... and its the type of response i was after to be honest.

The only problem is that there isnt enough skill points to go around and bio engineer is something i want - and the best thing to compliment that is MCH... i have pure combat templates on other servers and want something to offer people with this new character... So on another not do Bio Engineers and MCH make money?
