Thread: Thinking of leaving the fold....

After last night's Friday Feature I'm considering leaving the profession and moving to a slightly less broken one.
As I see it the biggest problem with BE atm is that we've had our profession pass already - the devs have moved on and its someone else's turn now.
I'm not saying there arent professions with more problems than us but many of those can at least look forward to some attention at some point in the future.
We are low priority and that makes me very sad - the pet creation process is fantastic - it has sooo much potential and gives us so much freedom and creativity BUT because like all crafting in the game they failed to check their formula's through and simulate possible outcomes they have to then impose hard caps and restrict our creativity - with the 'validity checks' the way they are the only way to make pets is to use tried and tested formulas.
This is only a ponderance at the minute but if I do leave then it wont be forever, I love the profession and I will be back.

Sorry to hear it Nancy.

From my experience with other professions though, we're actually in great shape compared to some (most!) of the others.

For a real eye-opener/comparison, try CH...

Heh, indeed. Stupid me for going BE/CH!

I feel ya, Nancy. Based on current work capacity, it looks like SOE won't have a dev assigned to do BE work (note that I didn't say "assigned to BE") at least until Q4. Droid Engineers are still being fixed, then smugglers, then the all-important Jedi, and so on, and so on. More and more I'm convinced that this is partially a business decision as well. Random reinforcers tend to increase a behavior more than regular reinforcers, i.e. if you think you might get something but aren't exactly sure when, you're more likely to engage in a behavior in order to get that something. In this case, that behavior is sticking with the BE profession (perhaps with SWG entirely).

Personally, I've got a couple of custom orders to finish, then I plan on stockpiling some tissues and dropping BE. Might be heading to doctor or CM next. Somewhere in the middle of summer BEs might see the research data, but I think there's plenty of time to try out other professions before the devs get back around to finishing what they started with BE.

Heh yeah, was thinking of another crafting profession - probably Armoursmith as it will go ok with Tailor, sure there are only 3 types of armour that are in any way useful but at least I know when I sell it that the customer will be able to use it

Theres still a few things I want to do before I give it up, mostly some 'perfect pet' combines just for me and I dont care if they're valid

It took me about a week to feel I had done everything I'd wanted to do before I dropped BE last weekend. Made myself a nice stash of pets.

I really liked BE and may return one day, but I was frustrated and decided I really wanted to blow stuff up for a while. How satisfying it is to get revenge on those Webmasters for all those DB's at their mandibles. Bet they didn't expect that rocket where it ended up.

I have loved BE... Took it up as a holo-profession and have never left. But when my vendor poofed with ALL of my resources, DNA Samples, everything I have been collecting from day 1 and over 96k in maintenance... well thatwas enough for me. CSRs are useless when it comes to actual customer service. I get tired of getting the same answer that basically comes down to, "sucks to be you! Have a nice day and Thanks for playing SWG!"

Not only am I leaving BE, but I have finally given up my hopes and have cancelled my subscription. Good luck to all of you!

Variety is good, trying new things is good, but this is what keeps me a BE. Basically, it's just simply that I don't see anything better. I was actually all set to jump ship to DE when they got their revamp, but what they got quite frankly I don't think is compelling at all, even when you consider the upcoming stuff. And I still don't see any other crafting profession where there is any challenge beyond simply harvesting the best stuff and tossing it in your factory. So I dunno, I won't be a BE forever, but when I leave it will probably be from the game, not the profession. The grass on our side is kinda yellow, but it's better than the brown weeds on the other side of the fence.

I've been considering leaving BE too, but for other reasons in addition to the lack of documentation.

My guild has 3 tailors, 2 chefs, and 3 MCHs... then I also supply 2 tailors who are in other guilds in the city. To say I have a lot of orders is putting it lightly Being the only MBE in the guild of 80 some is just a tad stressful

In any case, I hope you enjoy whatever profession you embark upon next, NancyJ, your knowledge and expertise will be missed. Take care!

P.S. Tal-N, CONGRATS!!

What is it with threads being ressurected this week?

Well as you may have noticed, I havent given up BE - and even after saying I was giving it up on farstar I still never quite manged to drop it. I dropped tailor instead.

This is bizzare - the last post was 4/17, and the thread ended up on the top of the list when hitting the "message listing" after another post.

I would have thought possibly a new BE was looking back to see what was posted earlier and might have commented, but this one shows none of the same signs.

It does show just how long the BE Malaise has been around, though...
