Correction The Peko Peko Albatross are level 155 not 125

Can this be repeated?
Can the DNA be crafted with?
Can the new pet be resampled?
Has anyone else sampled anything over Lv75?

I find it a little hard to believe that someone actually got that sample. First and formost because as i understand it we can not sample Creatures Higher level than a Mutant Rancor. Well that would certainly qualify??

If i am mistaken please let me know. But I am inclind not to believe this was a real sample.

heh I think it's interesting how the examined DNA sample convientiantly covers up where it is (I am assuming) in his inventory.

Here's my take:

He probably had one from long ago when they could be sampled. I myself had a set of real kimogila DNA that was given to me by a retiring MBE who was nice enough to give them away.

Those were collected back before the CL 75 cap, they worked under the new system, but they didn't really help me make an excellent creature because the medium armor didn't stick (of course) and the resists were just similar to a mutant rancor. It basically functioned like 2 mutant rancor samples in one.

At any rate, you will also note in his screenshot the amount of XP he gained from the supposed DNA sample... only 136. If that was from the albatross, then something is dearly wrong with his game. I earned a couple hundred per sample from weaker things on Dantooine, I would assume that something with the CL of an albatross would be 1000+ XP.

Therefore, my only conclusion is this:

It is a legitimate sample, it really exists.
However, it was harvested long ago, pre-patch, and saved this long.
It was not a new sample. This cannot be done, they cannot be sampled at this time.

The real question is which DNA Template slot would you use it it.... I think I would have to drop it Agression. The chances of any combination of DNA giving medium armour and being under CL70 are pretty much 0, but it would make light armour a sure thing, and I am willing to bet this thing could dish 800 points of damage, if not more.

I would be willing to bet that there is no hard limit as to how high a creature you can sample. Its just that the odds of succeeding become so small that its nearly impossible.

hmmm well I will give that a try... Going to make a Lv76 pet and will sample it... Will just carry it around and sample it for days... Worth a try!

I took a few months off from SWG and came back a short while ago and finished off my master in BE.

I really don't know about the CL125 or 155 sample. But, when they first changed the system for dna sample.. It was to the effect that sampling "over" your level had a higher chance of failure and/or aggression from the mob. At that time I don't recall there being a hard cap on any chance to sample. But that was before I left and I haven't paid much attention to the devs statements since I came back.

You used to be able to go out at novice BE and sample mobs that gave 500+ dna per sample as well as I can sample those same mobs at Master now. When I very first tried BE and didn't know enough about it to advance (game release). I had half of my 4th tier of dna sample and was having a horrible time with the other trees (just how fast dna could be) and I didn't know about crafting through the other tiers.

Anyway the thing that caught my eye was the 'real' kimo sample statement. I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "real' ...

But back when half our pets were "extinct"... they had some pretty crazy hams. The Kimo was listed at 20k ham or so and was around 1000 dmg.

You could go outside a town and sample "newbie" mobs make a Kimo... that at that time could only be dropped as a floor decoration ... but... you then sampled the Kimo out of your backpack... you ended up with about as real kimo dna as you could get.

Was possilbe to make nicer "low" level pets with it but ... didn't get around to it much. I just know when i was grinding dna on my current character I would make blurgs then sample them out of my back pack to just get the most use of everything while in the "field".

Anyway I have a nice ramble here and nothing useful... but I like to ramble.
