Thread: Template Advice

so I know theres a million of these posts a day but:

teras kasi master
commando 0-0-4-0
smuggler 0-0-4-0
pistoleer 0-1-4-0
medic 0-0-0-0

I dabbled once in all 3 of these profs and enjoyed them all... mainly tka and commando...
just wondering if dabbling this far spread out is going to make me ineffective in all but tka. Oh well, tell me waht you think... thanks =)

I was Master TK and Master CH, droped TK temporarly to do holocron crap, but i'll be back.


When i do relevel TK im changing my template to this:



Teras Kasi: Master


Pistol: 4/0/4/0


Fencing: 1/4/4/0


Medic: 3/3/3/0

Pistoleer 0|4|0|4


The best pistol specials in the game, plus pistol accuracy and speed. The ranged KD (Lowblow) and delay shot (Panic Shot) are invaluable.

so would you say the pistoleer specals arent worth it and i should go with the marksmanship and melee special abilities?

I’m unsure of which direction to pursue, and am looking for some feedback. If my calculations are right, I can either:


Master CH


Supplemented w. Commando 0/04/0 or 0/0/3/1


Or


Master CH


Smuggler 0/04/0


Pistoleer 3/3/3/3 plus one fourth-tier box.




Which would make for a better general combat template?

I would go for the pistoleer/smuggler template... just for the ranged kd. Although i guess with pets its no biggie either way.

Like many before me, I am trying to figure out if I should forgo any combat skills in order to keep some of my Ranger abilities or if dropping Ranger abilities and becoming a 4/x/4/x Scout with only MS is a better option. Having MCH & MBE (which I'm working towards both) severely limits the amount of combat skills that I can acquire. In my template I'm looking at Pistoleer 0040 with MCH/MBE & Scout 4040. I was a Master Ranger and have slowly been dropping it as I acquire BE skills (currently at 2/0/3/1) and I've found having Ranger extremely helpful, however I'm not on higher level MoBs yet.


Any advice would be appreciated.

Thats the template my charater is (MBE/MCH/Pistol 0/0/4/0).


It works well for me, but then I don't PvP much.


Pretty well eveything you know skillwisecompliments everything else (Scout MS supports DNA Sample, Pistol supports BE with meat collecting, BE supports MCH with pets, Medic supports healing pets/you, etc).


The only change I've though about (beyond what Holo's have told me) is go Rifle instead of Pistol, but getting up close with Pistol seems to work better as then your within range to heal the pets...

Ok, Im basically deciding between a few options for my new template, which of these do you guys think I should go, reasons behind your decision help alot instead of just saying...'that one'


1. Master Pistoleer/Smuggler 0440/Commando 0040

2. Master Pistoleer/Bounty Hunter 0040

3. Master Pistoleer/Master Combat Medic


Any other suggestions involving Master Pistoleer/ ? are also appreciated, although I'd prefer we just stick to those 3.

I swore I'd drop master Brawler after Publish 7 (due to Warcry nerf)and sure enough I have been working on Unarmed and Pistoleer to rack up the exp for some of the free skill points I will have...But I have since realised I will miss Lunge2 more than I thought.


As a KD it is inferior to a Teras Kasi's but it's the only true one I have and that 20mtre range is just too useful. I had experimented with a weapon swap and attack macro to swap weapons to a VK, do unarmed KD and then swap back again. This is fine providing I am not on Dath, Dant or Lok where the Lag makes this macro useless (weapons swap out fine but the attack gets delayed so it never works) so this is unusable.


My current Template is;

Master Brawler

Master Fencer

TK 2,3,0,4

Pistoleer 0,0,4,0

Medic 2,0,0,0


This makes my Melee defense reach it's cap my range is about 5pnts shy and with TK, Fencer and Pistoleer state defenses stacked I'm not easily knocked down. I haven't stacked up dodge, it's 115 (10pnts over that over a fencer) and I don't really use pistols at all, except for pulling mobs and destroying a lair at range.


My idea was to go

Master Fencer

TK 4,4,0,4

Pistoleer 0,0,4,0

Smuggler 0,0,3,0

Medic 3,2,0,0


Giving me FD, some powerful pistol shots, Meditate 4 and UKD2

But the pistol was only there for the state defenses, my character is a melee character, so the powerful pistol shots won't really get used. plus I will lose intimidate2 and the improvements todefenses and CoB as well as Lunge2


Here's my new alternative;


Master Brawler

Master Fencer

TK 4,4,0,4

Pikeman 0,0,4,0

Swordsman 0,0,4,0

Medic 2,1,0,0


Only thing that is really hit is KD defense but as that is meant to cap at 90 then not having 120 is not really a problem. I lose any range attack but I don't use them in PvP anyway.

Any comments? Anyone else use a template similar to this one?
