Thread: Species effects of DNA sampling.
2. Tera Kasi Master
3. No way to test.
4. Master BE for about 3 months (second time mastering).
I think it's totally random. I was sampling Kima on Talus last night, sometimes they'd attack me after my first sample... sometimes I could sample until they died.
1. Twi'lek
2. TKM
3. Unlikely, but I'm willing to consider it.
4. Little over a year.
I think the sucess rate is random modified by the CL of the creature you're sampling from.
Something like
success if ((random 1-80 number) - CL) + (Sampling bonus/5) > 50
2. Teras Kasi Master
3. Assuming all species start with some better stats then others, i would assume some species are better at sampling. But I have not seen that mod before for any species.
4. BE for about 4 months

my ability to sample comes and goes, just like all the other random stuff in the game. Last week I got 6 samples off of a single BMBQ with almost no sampling failures, but I also have had times last week when I've failed 4 or 5 consecutive times on a huurton pup and drawn multiple aggros (which is real annoying). And I had that long streak that I posted about where I failed twenty some odd consecutive times I believe it was from a mutant rancor, but other times I've marched right up to them and extracted 3 samples before it poofed.
You'd need a lot of data to draw any conclusions.
I have had the same type of day-to-day variations. The only thing that seems more or less consistent is mutant rancors. I have mask-enhanced pants and shirt and always have buffs and jawa beer on board. I never--repeat NEVER--have been able to approach a group of mutant rancors without them breaking my scent. The only way I have any chance of maintaining a mask is if I single out one rancor away from the group.
My best success has come in estimating how far a rancor will follow a friend on a swoop, then masking and standing still next to a tree at that location. If only one rancor follows my friend, I have a chance of getting close enough to sample. If two follow, I am guaranteed mask breaking and being aggroed. Since I can't routinely take a MR alone, this often results in death--even with armor and buffs.
If I do get close enough, I would say my chances are 25/25/50, ie. 25% chance of being aggroed, 25% chance of getting a sample, and 50% chance of not being aggroed, but not getting a sample. When I do get a sample, they are almost always high quality or above.
Some folks above didn't comment on sampling success of high-level mobs.
It seems odd that Twi'leks are over-represented.

It sounds like the MR's have something personal against you. Were involved in some ancestor MR slight?
My success rate with anything under cl55 seems to be about the same around 70%. I get more samples out of the lower level stuff though. For BMBQ's and MH's I have about a 60% success rate. For MR's it's about 15%. I usually only get 1-3 samples out of any of those creatures.
If I had to do it over again I might make a human. It annoys me to no end to not be able to wear all the cool hats in the game. Although there was a bug a long time ago that let a twi'lek have their lekku removed by an ID. Was cool to walk around with no Lekku and green skin.

Hehe, most "random" functions aren't really that random. Most require a seed number and use the CPU time as this seed. If that's what is being done here, you could write a macro to only sample at a specific time to guarantee success!
True, but what if they seed from the .1 seconds instead of seconds?
