What do you look at to tell the quality of a resource? I see people mentioning numbers like 700 and 900 for quality. Where do those come from?

Examine a resource that you sampled. Scroll down in the box and it will tell you the values and properties of the resource. I'm working on getting a database of the information but I've been slacking.

Example:
Imeic
Cold Resistance:800
Conductivity:930
Decay:674
Heat Resistance:597
Mallibility:979
Overall Quality:96
Shock Resistance:741
Unit Toughness:767

Does Resources stats effect anything that architects make? I'm a resource harvester and generally sell to architects (@2.5 - 3.5 cr / unit as a rule) and wondered if it was worth finding the better quality materials at the expense of finding the highest % resource density. I currently have about 85k of high quality, high mailliability, high shock resistance steel that I would hate to see used in making something that doesnt need stats at all.

Resource Qualitydoes not affect the end product at all but it seems that it effects your crits. When i use high OQ resources i almost never crit but if i use low OQ resources i do.

Ganson,

We're all about unit toughness and decay resist. On a very few materials we need overall quality, but that's just for furniture (there might be some items that i'm unaware of, but I generally pay pretty good attention.)

The quality of our resources matters most on the final combine of large structures if we're doing that by hand.

Without item decay for architects, I'm personally mostly concerned with failure rates. I made all of my parts in a factory with the lesser quality resources. Then save the good stuff (900+ toughness and decay resist) for the final combines. As far as I can tell, those resources are the only ones that contribute to the finished durability of the structure.

Hope that helps,

Thanks for the info. I feel a lot happier with my HQ materials being used in buildings now. I can see how crit fails are very demoralizing for architects.

It's my understanding that resource quality effects (or should effect) the experimental effiency to the degree of lowering maintence costs on houses, factories and harvesters.

I don't have much to test this on as Shadowfire hasn't had a resource shift and I've always used the highest quality materials I can find when making any product.

I do know that resource quality stats does effect the experimental effiency on crafting centers to increase the functionality rating.

can anyone give me a quick runthrough on what to look for to tell the quality level of a mineral? thanks

look at your schematic. look at the resource attributes that affect the outcome. look at the resources needed for it and you will have the information. there is no quick and easy run through because different things require different attributes (e.g., final ranged weapon assembly is cond+OQ, projectile barrels HR+SR)

is the quality of a resource based on that actual resource or the harvester?? because I can never seem to find any good quality resources to harvest myself

The quality of the resources that you are mining out of the ground has nothing to do with the quality of the harvester that you use.

THe harvester quality only affects the amount of material that you can harvest per hour.

The quality of the resources is just up to chance based on whatever is available that day /week for the particular planet for the server in question.

I'm sure this has been asked before but I couldn't find it so here goes :

How do you find the stats on a certain resource without actually having to hunt it down to a high enough percentage, sample it, then examine it ?

I have 6 medium harvs and do contract mining for people. Example : someone wants a good copper, so I have to spend an hour running all over Tatooine trying to find a spot to sample each of the 3 different current coppers. Is this just the way it is ?

I checked out SWGCraft.com but it only has stats that's been confirmed, so what about brand new resources ?
